Footidy Moon Anime openings usually have events that are later in the series. At 9:50 there’s a moon. I don’t know where the story is actually going. I was just “yes and”ing in this comment thread.
That's pretty common in openings - to not show characters fully which haven't been introduced yet. Watch the first Naruto Shippuden opening of different episodes - we don't see Deidara and Sasori properly in the beginning. Only after they've been shown in the episodes. (Also with the 4th opening of Naruto, GO!).
Gotta keep the support up for Geoff! These videos really helped me develop my love for anime, which transitioned in helping me build a new connection with my dad (Who is now making a slow transition to Otaku with how much anime he's seen). So here's a comment saying you're brilliant and we hope you stick around!
good touch on the green pause symbol. really helps differentiate the current scene being analyzed as opposed to the stock frames strengthening whatever it is your saying in that point. works well
MEDIUM LEVEL MANGA SPOILER Literally finished the manga yesterday, just realized Genya is pictured in a sunset lit area because he eats demon parts and has been undergoing demonization - he’s between Kanae, a demon slayer in the sun, and Tamayo and her assistant, a demon of the night.
@@partialblackout no, but I hope it finishes soon. I just can't wait to see Gonpachiro make Michael Jackson pay for the slaughter of a lot of the good and sweet guys from the manga.
More Demon Slayer content, yeah! Love the new stylistic changes to What's in an OP too. And, I appreciate your commitment to getting Kamaboko Kentaro's name wrong at every opportunity.
Okay, amazing video as always. But I need to say two things: The editing style in this one was SOOOOO good. And watching this made me realize how good and efficient of a music Gurenge is.
I disagree. Kimetsu no Yaiba has no emotional impact, nor good songs. Blend characters and same type of storylines that we have seen thousands of times. The only thing that is good in this anime is the animation.
@@michaelkim4691 the manga gets more emotional with not only demons with a sad backstory, but also some friends of Tanjiro that have a really bad time. Also, in the manga we stop seeing Tanjiro getting sad for every demon. And there are much better fights coming (yet in the movie, the first half of it won't be as good asthe finale. But it's cool). I think Demon Slayer gets a lot better as it continues. I don't know why everyone is already saying that 'KnY is the best anime Shonen ever!' if what we have right now is not that impressive. My one problem is that there are some things that I struggle to understand in the manga at a few times (some breath stuff and crap), but is interesting.
1. Amazing video as usual, just started watching demon slayer a couple days ago and I’m already halfway through it. 2. Commenting to help boost the video for the algorithm, your videos deserve it
No lie, when it showed the end of that whole “cutting of the boulder” arc to the demon Tanjiro fights for the final selection- I was so moved by it. I love how this anime/manga doesn’t paint things just black and white. You can tell the writer put a lot of thought, detail, and love into this work
"He (Urokodaki) cares for the boy. He knows what horrors he'll face as a demon slayer" ... Yeah agreed. Sure. But it was two maids in a house Tanjiro barely knows that teaches him how to properly use the breathing technique.
The "What's in an OP" series of videos is sooo good. You put so much effort to go really deep in what the images symbolize. Big thank you for your work!!
I feel like the Moon is just representing the Demon Moons and that last shot of Tanjiro and Nezuko looking to the Moon is just a representation of how it will be an uphill battle to win. Lol let's hope it's not telling us that they are going to space
pops in- *Inosuke is one of the best boys* slips out- ALSO, I really hope you overcome this boundary you're going through because this really is a great channel and I can see you clearly work hard.
I pressed like right from the start of the video, because I was waiting for this one. Then I laughed so hard at "you did it Inosuke" that I literally tried to press like button second time. Took me some time to process it. Geoff, buddy, you just made my evening!
I would like to point out in that every episode when a new Hashira is introduced, in the following intro their silhouette against the moon is very clear. So in the last couple of episodes all the hashiras lack a silhouette in that shot in the intro.
I always watch your what’s in an OP video just to kick myself for not noticing the small details. Everything usually moves so fast that I tend to take openings as just a sequence of cool looking animations that vaguely spoil the season. But it really does have a lot of subtle storytelling, and I love that about anime. I hope your channel continues on and RUclips stops being so unfair.
The moon could be a reference to one of the most powerful demons in the series, while I won't spoil it. He is heavily associated with the moon, just lie Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer's are associated with the sun, which will extinguish the demons.
your videos have been a great source of enjoyment for me for years. i hope that youtube gets their act together and backs off sooner rather than later.
Great video, Geoff. The Moon motif is interesting because it appears with the heroes, but the villain's are also linked with it, the Full Moons and Half Moons. Also, my compliments to the editor, the editing was really tight. Not only the zoom effects were great, but they chose perfect images to follow what you were talking about. This video felt really alive because of that.
I always assumed the first shot was Tanjiro's father. The camera cuts to Tanjiro symbolising how he inherited his father's breathing technique, earrings and with Nezuko the fight against Muzan. Or something like that, at least that is my interpretation. It would make the odd camera angles and lack of Nezuko/Box/sword make sense.
(minor spoilers for Genya's powers) Could the Tamayo, Yushiro, Genya and Kanao scenes be representing their powers? Tamayo and Yushiro are seen at night as they're demons, Kanao is seen in day as she's a demon slayer and Genya is seen in dusk (SPOILERS) because of his eating demons shenanigans, gaining demonic properties, while still being a demon slayer.
One thing worth noting is that Tanjirou's actions in the chorus sequence of him fighting the demons flows into each other. He jumps into the air and swings his sword down towards the ground. This cuts into the shot of the 2 demons and him on the ground, where he lands offscreen and then jumps, dodging incoming attacks and goes in to strike Before he finally "lands" into the drum demon's fight, on the ground.
Whether he had this lined up just in case the views and likes were in dangered, I DON'T CARE! I LOVES IT! BRING ALL THE OP ANALYSIS THAT MADE ME FIRST LOVE ESSENTIALLY ALL THE STUFF GEOFF'S TO SAY!!!
you didnt mention that the first time tanjiro appeared alone and the first time nezuko appeared alone the song said (I must become stronger) both have to became stronger to protect each other. they are both the main character. you can say the Demon and the Slayer
@@neilholden2071 They're ghoul vampires. The reason I call them ghouls? Demon Slayers = CCG, and they don't drink blood specifically so not vampires
You rock Jeff, and I hope this video stays up as it's another example of your excellent work. Also, I am now super excited for the Space Exploration Arc of Demon Slayer.
That's debatable. The anime definitely improved the arcs that it covered but as for where the manga is currently I'd say it's just as entertaining as the anime.
I totally agree. I wasn't that into the manga when I read it, and usually I'm a person who much prefers manga over anime, but I started appreciating the story much more after watching the anime. I didn't really like the art in the manga (it's been awhile since I read it so I could be wrong but I remembered the art using the derpy gag style over the serious style way too much), and I couldn't really appreciate the fights. Also I had a really hard time telling characters apart, especially Kanae, Kayano and Shinobu.
When I first saw the shot of Nezuko's hair falling down, it was legit breathtaking. I don't know why, but I was simply in awe at the beauty and subtly of that one image.
I’d love to see a What’s in an OP for the second Opening of Vinland Saga, purely cause I want to hear you talk about how much history they crammed into the first few seconds.
The point you made about characters facing left or right is also to some extent applicable on the supporting characters in the still shots: First time we see Kano (who is facing right) interact with the main characters she beats down Tanjiro and tries to kill Nezuko; Genya (who is facing right) is shown to be kind of an asshole; Lady Tamayo and Yushiro (both facing left) are shown to be really kind. Really nice details!
You know I can never get enough of you talking Geoff, even for serious subjects. It reminds us all that you're human, relatable & not a cold soulless robot. 💜 That being said I actually haven't finished the first season of Demon Slayer so thanks for all the spoilers you fuck!😊 But also I couldn't wait to watch this, as soon as I saw the OP I was excited for your analysis! I played myself.
This vid came up on my home tab ang thought "why not? I love Demon Slayer" so here I am and impressed at what I saw. You just got yourself a new subber MB! 👋
Thank you, Jeff. Very insightful. The left facing, right facing, part in particular was very interesting to me and something I doubt I ever would have noticed had you not pointed it out.
I didn't know your channel was going through a tough time right now, and I'm sorry for it and hope you bounce back even stronger soon. Your channel is easily one of my all-time favorites on RUclips overall and on Anime RUclips for sure. The way you're able to not only analyze and bring your own interpretation of anime, but also express that all the things these anime make you feel is incredible. Every time I watch your videos, I hope that one day i'll be able to express myself as clearly as you do and even better one day (I want to write a novels, not full time but still, and also I just want to express myself better generally). I've always fantasized of being an anime analyzer-person, at least on a few topics (I will one day write an essay on how stupid Itachi's plan was, and the crime that was the way Sakura was handled by Kishimoto and how much potential Sasuke had to be better, but I digress), and while I don't think that'll ever really happy, this satisfies that urge because I see you do it for me so well. Your reviews help me think harder on anime I've watched, teach me a bit more about animation, and also give me recs for new anime to watch. I love watching your videos and don't want to see you stop until and unless you're ready to. So thanks for the work and heart you've put into this channel, and I hope to see some more later.

@@00ammy00 Yes! I didn't notice it until my second time watching the show lol
Gotta keep the support up for Geoff! These videos really helped me develop my love for anime, which transitioned in helping me build a new connection with my dad (Who is now making a slow transition to Otaku with how much anime he's seen). So here's a comment saying you're brilliant and we hope you stick around!
I just noticed that when Zenitsu uses thunderclap and flash near the end his eyes aren't visible
good touch on the green pause symbol. really helps differentiate the current scene being analyzed as opposed to the stock frames strengthening whatever it is your saying in that point. works well
Who else is pumped for Demon Slayer 2: Zenitsu in space?
just got into demon slayer and KNEW you had some amazing videos for me to watch. Thank you!
MEDIUM LEVEL MANGA SPOILER
Literally finished the manga yesterday, just realized Genya is pictured in a sunset lit area because he eats demon parts and has been undergoing demonization - he’s between Kanae, a demon slayer in the sun, and Tamayo and her assistant, a demon of the night.
Wow that kinda explains that shot, specially since he brings nothing during the first season other than loli abuse
WHOA. He's in between.
The manga hasn’t finished yet though?
@@partialblackout no, but I hope it finishes soon. I just can't wait to see Gonpachiro make Michael Jackson pay for the slaughter of a lot of the good and sweet guys from the manga.
More Demon Slayer content, yeah! Love the new stylistic changes to What's in an OP too. And, I appreciate your commitment to getting Kamaboko Kentaro's name wrong at every opportunity.
You have got to admit that the hashiras' shot infront of the goldenish moon is seriously the most badass shots in this OP
Okay, amazing video as always. But I need to say two things: The editing style in this one was SOOOOO good. And watching this made me realize how good and efficient of a music Gurenge is.
your videos are always so detailed, interesting and well-scripted i'm honestly impressed
keep it up!! :)
Totally agree!!!!!
Love the overlay when pointing out specific details. Very nice touch.

Yup... Demon Slayer has it all
I disagree. Kimetsu no Yaiba has no emotional impact, nor good songs. Blend characters and same type of storylines that we have seen thousands of times. The only thing that is good in this anime is the animation.
Michael Kim very unpopular opinion, but aight
@@michaelkim4691 oof you just posted cringe
Michael Kim I’ve command you to stfu
You can tell the writer put a lot of thought, detail, and love into this work
That right to left thing is insane, I would never notice that but you explained it so well - well done MB 👏
"He (Urokodaki) cares for the boy. He knows what horrors he'll face as a demon slayer" ... Yeah agreed. Sure. But it was two maids in a house Tanjiro barely knows that teaches him how to properly use the breathing technique.
Three little girls that reminded him
The "What's in an OP" series of videos is sooo good.
If they go to space I'm rooting for Muzan lmao
read the manga, it's not a big/important point of the story but it's kinda neat
pops in-
*Inosuke is one of the best boys*
slips out-
ALSO, I really hope you overcome this boundary you're going through because this really is a great channel and I can see you clearly work hard.
I hope there isn't another copyright infringement in the distance.
That's what that shot of the moon represents, because harassing anitubers for giving these things free publicity is lunacy.
Love the pauses and zoom ins. That was great details and effects!
I love 'what's in an OP' series and hope we get more soon.

Dr. Stone: *NERVOUS SWEATING*
Mother's basement: *uploads new op video about demon slayer*
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Golden wind op 2: am i a joke to you?
Never knew even just the way people are facing could mean so much. Thanks for allowing me to enjoy every OP you disect even more than I already did!
(minor spoilers for Genya's powers)
Could the Tamayo, Yushiro, Genya and Kanao scenes be representing their powers? Tamayo and Yushiro are seen at night as they're demons, Kanao is seen in day as she's a demon slayer and Genya is seen in dusk (SPOILERS) because of his eating demons shenanigans, gaining demonic properties, while still being a demon slayer.
One thing worth noting is that Tanjirou's actions in the chorus sequence of him fighting the demons flows into each other.
He jumps into the air and swings his sword down towards the ground.
This cuts into the shot of the 2 demons and him on the ground, where he lands offscreen and then jumps, dodging incoming attacks and goes in to strike
Before he finally "lands" into the drum demon's fight, on the ground.
Ah shit the moon represents
(spoilers)
Moon Breathing Style why didn’t I see it
Because it isn’t obvious in any way, don’t worry.
Last arc
Everything I press play on your videos I'm happy thanks bro
Whether he had this lined up just in case the views and likes were in dangered, I DON'T CARE! I LOVES IT! BRING ALL THE OP ANALYSIS THAT MADE ME FIRST LOVE ESSENTIALLY ALL THE STUFF GEOFF'S TO SAY!!!
We love you Jeff! Please don't let this get you down, I look forward to your videos so much
you didnt mention that the first time tanjiro appeared alone and the first time nezuko appeared alone the song said (I must become stronger) both have to became stronger to protect each other. they are both the main character. you can say the Demon and the Slayer
Amazing video dude! made me appreciate the OP WAAAY more. I love this series (your "What's in an OP?" series)
My money is on them going to space, watch the demons actually be aliens.
And they are here for our water.
Xenomorph slayer
Demons are more zombies than aliens, but fun anyways
@@dayronsanchezarias2157 they are more like vampires to me
@@neilholden2071 They're ghoul vampires. Eat human flesh to survive, instantly die in the sun, ridiculous regeneration, can be killed by decapitation (as opposed to vampires getting stabbed through the heart), have a thing with the effect garlic has on vampires (that purple plant I can't recall the name of) and so on.
Demon Slayer's anime is probably one the few that's better than the manga
This anime, Attack on Titan, and Mob Psycho 100 are a few off the top of my head.
OPM S1 (for the main story at least, bonus chapters were not adapted).
@@Rikorage Hunter x Hunter is another one.
The editing of these videos are great. I always enjoy your "What's in an OP" videos
Quick, everyone throw your dignity upon the algorithm's fury.
The point you made about characters facing left or right is also to some extent applicable on the supporting characters in the still shots: First time we see Kano (who is facing right) interact with the main characters she beats down Tanjiro and tries to kill Nezuko;
Genya (who is facing right) is shown to be kind of an asshole;
Lady Tamayo and Yushiro (both facing left) are shown to be really kind.
Really nice details!
I'm absolutely living for Demon Slayer videos!
You know I can never get enough of you talking Geoff, even for serious subjects. It reminds us all that you're human, relatable & not a cold soulless robot. 💜
That being said I actually haven't finished the first season of Demon Slayer so thanks for all the spoilers you fuck!😊
But also I couldn't wait to watch this, as soon as I saw the OP I was excited for your analysis! I played myself.
I'm still waiting "What is an op? : Golden Wind"

not much
@@mirrorzone5224 you will be surprised how many details Fighting Gold has

This vid came up on my home tab ang thought "why not? I love Demon Slayer" so here I am and impressed at what I saw. You just got yourself a new subber MB! 👋
When you write a resume of a book that is longer than the book itself 😂😂😂👍
Thank you, Jeff. Very insightful. The left facing, right facing, part in particular was very interesting to me and something I doubt I ever would have noticed had you not pointed it out.
Muzan is going to space to use his most powerfull ability: MOONWALKING.
