Hi Gaz, if (god forbid) you ever have a wobble, open your phone and look at the picture of yourself the morning after your fall….. you’re never going back there….. proud of you xx❤xx
Mate, you are incredibly courageous for making public your struggles with booze. My mother was an alcoholic and I have lost girlfriends, jobs and have sustained multiple injuries due to alcohol. I started drinking at 20, and at 55 last year could glug down a bottle of Whiskey and still want more, I gave up alcohol two months ago. Every day is a struggle but your videos help me out, and stay on the right path. God bless you, and all over lads and lasses who are trying to keep sober
Well done you keep your chin up and stay on the straight and narrow. Unfortunately my brother just couldn’t give it up, he got countless help on various occasions but to no avail and was unfortunately found behind his front door when they came to evict him. Sadly people don’t realise how easy this can happen to them as they think it’s always someone else, stay strong dig in it’s not an easy road your on but you made the most important move and that was taking the first step. Keep us informed of how you are doing 🙏
Well dont Gareth keep up the good work my brother was alcohol dependent I have see him have 2 cardiac arrest due to his drinking..my brother supported him come what may as we loved him unconditionally he didnt make it he died a couple of years ago at 59 but that's life..its only up and up for you well done ❤❤ xx
My son died 9 years ago today due to his alcoholism he was only 34 years old, you are brilliant for what you are doing, alcohol didn't just take my son's life, it took mine as well all the best x
I'm a 52 year old alcoholic who has been sober for around 21 months now. I focused my addictive personality onto exercise instead. Huge respect to you for making the decision to stop, and I send you all the best.
I'm a 35 year old alcoholic and so proud for you for opening up . Your videos help me a lot with cooking ideas and tskeing my mind off a drink . Thank you mate

Yes in the later years of my drinking i woke up a couple of times with broken bones - without remembering how it had happened. Glad that's not happening any more! 14 years & 11 months sober now - well worth it. Keep going Gareth 👍🏼
"I've got my husband back". That's your lottery win right there plus your kids will say their dad is back. Plus all the mates you now have on this channel.👍
Wish my wife would have had the courage to stop drinking, it wrecked my marriage (split 10 years ago) and now it is ruining her life with her bloke and her child.
That's true ''the beer bus'' it's hard to know which stop to get off. 3 stops really every now and again. They say after 3 months 100 days, the liver is really healing its self. Keep going!
Hi there Colin 😊 I'm piping up uninvited as usual, but I wanted to say that 30 days is a huge milestone. A whole month! Perhaps 6 months ago, for example, you may not have been able to envisage such an achievement for yourself. All this to say that we must celebrate the milestones and, hopefully, they give you the push to see it through to the next one. Good luck, buddy 😊👍🏽

Couple thoughts as I watched An alcoholic is a person who cant control their drinking. The issue is with the lack of control not the quantity or the timing (daily, hourly, monthly, annual etc). Not everyone needs AA but it can be a resource if it is needed. If I may suggest to at least be aware of a local meeting schedule/location just incase you find yourself in crisis you could attend. If not AA at least have an option for help if needed. I am so proud of you. You might consider saving all the money your not spending and taking the family on a vacation like Disneyland, some trip to make amazing memories. Addictive behavior shows itself in so many ways not just drugs and drink….buying 14 purses and 23 pairs of shoes in one day, spending 18 hours a day online and blowing up the motherboard of a computer, my list could go on. Keep up the good work. Love the vlogging.
It's the substance which is highly addictive, which can in time, lead to a huge increase in the quantity someone drinks. (Tolerance) It's not the person who has lack of control. Please read Annie Grace's This Naked Mind. It explains how alcohol effects the brain. We need to take the shame out of alcohol dependence.
Aw that so nice of you wife you can tell she love you loads and she as stuck bye you and you have got two lovely girls you all enjoy your self together and the life you have got you have done well 100 days x❤🎉
This was so heartfelt Gareth. I wish my dad had been half the man you are. His drinking destroyed his marriage & the family we once were. Life is no dress rehearsal. You're so courageous to make these videos & help others. You look & sound like a weight is lifted from your shoulders. You must stand proud as you're doing amazing. Reading all your comments just shows how much love & respect we have for you. Thank you for being you 😊👍
I’m also 50, with nine year old twins. I’ve been off the drink for most of the last year. No AA, either . I just can’t go more than a few months before having a binge of a day or two. Good luck!
Such honesty, you are doing great. I feel it's not going to help associating anything to do with quitting alcohol, like a jar to put money in to remind yourself of those days or buying yourself a something on anniversaries of giving up, it's probably best to leave those days behind and reward the new life experiences with family and friends what you are doing now. Best of luck mate, love your channel.
A huge well done Gareth, ive watched you all the way it isn't easy for anyone with any kind of addiction is it. I smoked 30 plus a day 27 years ago not easy..... but i did it. You have done so well, one day at a time they say! Your wife obviously thinks you are worth it, you are a lovely person keep going. Good luck to you and your family and to everyone else on here who is struggling well done so far.xx

You are such a nice guy Gareth….wishing you and your family all the very best 😘 Your videos are so honest and engaging no matter what the subject and that’s all credit to you. Keep on keeping on 🌞
Sounds like your good lady Mrs Gareth really cares. The biggest sign of someone caring is when they are willing to say what you do, and don't, want to hear. Doing so takes as much courage as making changes. Keep going 💪
Well done on getting this far its an amazing achievement. Your story rings true for me, i was about to turn 40 and my daughter was 5 and i couldn't drink without getting smashed, and was terrified of her seeing me drunk, so i quit on my 40th, and have not looked back. Alcohol free living is good!!
I found your channel with that first video. You are strong and brave and putting yourself out here for all to see. Take the advice that resonates for you on your path, and leave the rest for those that need it for their path. Congratulations!
Congratulations on your 100 sober days! It’s a huge achievement and shows your strength of character and will power. Keep going Gareth! You’ve absolutely got this!. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You are doing amazing Gareth, keep it up. You are a great man and now you have more time for your family, use the money you have saved and take them all on holiday somewhere nice , all the very best xxx

Great video we all enjoy you and video, well done proud of you, and our love and thoughts are with you and lovely wife (bless her)plus family. Please start to be proud of yourself
My dad just died on Thursday last week after years of alcoholism. Very happy for you that you have managed to change for your children, something my dad wasn't able to.
That’s great idea about you and your wife interview…it’s give a woman the effects of living with someone who is going thru the same .well done Gareth ..you must have a very strong wife and one that loves you..keep strong.
Nice one my friend, you could be writing about me. 3 years on from my last drink & feel i am a better person for it. I am so happy for you & look forward to more of your enjoyable videos. PS i have drink in the fridge which doesn't bother me & sit in my nephews pub with a cup of tea or pop because as you have figured out its all in the mind.
Congratulations. Well done for talking about it so honestly. I'm sure you have inspired others. Anyone struggling to give up alcohol can watch your video and know they are not alone. Well done.
Sometimes binge drinking can be worse as you can get yourself into some bother due to the state you get into in such a short space of time. What happened to you was bad enough but at least it was stuff that could heal - could have been so much worse. Think it was the best thing to happen though and the fright you needed to change things. You’ve done really well and do what works for you - if you don’t need aa meetings then you don’t need them. It’s your journey and no one else’s. Well done mate and all the best. Enjoy your family life now. 👍
It must be lovely for your wife to be validated by you telling us all, she is your rock 🪨. It’s heartwarming following you’re journey, I’ve known so many good souls like yourself who did not have or take the chance to be sober before it was to late for them. That fall was indeed the wake up opportunity for you to take and to your credit you did, that takes guts and strength and a lot of facing yourself without a filter and that’s not easy. You’ve accepted a gift, a gift of the chance to be truly you, happier, healthier and live a fulfilling life with your loving family. You’ve got this Gareth, I’m sure, be well.😊
I heard a guy say he was spending a tenner a day on average on cans etc.. did it for years. He stopped drinking and put the tenner away where he couldnt readily see it, cant remember if it was a jar, i think it was a seperate savings account with different bank. After doing this for a while less than a year he looked at the money.. He had £2400! Him and his misses took a trip to New York. Both had never been abroad, both loved it and wanted to do it again. I remember him saying...A trip to New York.. from money he wasted on his living room sofa on nothing.. Him and his missus go exploring, keen travellers now, building memories and photos each year. I think i heard it on a podcast somewhere. Dont know if its true but always loved that story. Your a brave guy putting it all out there.. fair play to you👍
@@Baldfoodieguylifestyle yeh i thought it was a good incentive. If i remember where i heard it I'll put the link here😃 trouble is... i cant remember who said it😂😂
It might’ve been the best fall you ever had. You don’t need to be labelled to say you can’t keep drinking, you know you were on a bad road and you took yourself of it by turning the corner. It’s lovely for your wife to have you back I’m sure she is more than happy. So best wishes keep going a day at a time❤
Well done. After 100 days you are still very passionate about not drinking and still very much aware of why you stopped, what you were about to lose and what you’ve gained. This tells me that you certainly don’t need the help of AA or anyone else at this point. You’ve made up your mind, I wish you all the luck sticking to it. Thanks for making this public for people in a similar position, brave man.
If you've got the willpiwer to stop on your own, I'd say you don't need an external support group to lean on. Heck, that might just be too depressing to be around people in a bad situation, some of whom may not have your sense of purpose, cyclically falling off rhe wagon. Never feel pressure or guilt to join AA as long as you stay the course! Your inspiration and motivation is your family. Which beats any group of struggling strangers, I'd say. 😊
I’m so pleased you have done so well. You have a wonderful family who love you dearly . Treasure them as they treasure you . Keep doing what your doing . 😍🤩❤️🙏🏼
Great work Gaz, keep it up it will get easier, you have great support from your wife and two lovely kids, they are the most important thing, proud of you my friend. 👏👏👍
Ive been watching your reviews for awhile and ive seen you getting stronger. As the army was an important job your family are yours now to take care of and to love. Like you said your children are not fools. Thanks for your effort in doing what you do. Its only drink find something else to drink instead.
The stresses and strains of the 20th century have had a dramatic affect on all of us.... Sometimes we turn to something that after a while is not doing us any good at all, but making the situation worse!! Lots of people are unable to recognise this and sadly end up with nothing and no-one. You made the right decision and have a loving family to encourage you every step of the way! We all falter at some stage in our life but you recognised it as a problem and chose your family over drink and I applaud you for it 👏And of course hearing from other people that have had similar experiences should only make you realise that you are only human and that you can and WILL succeed 🤩
You are doing well Gareth. Time flies, another 100 days from now it will be Christmas. Just keep doing what you are doing. If you put your mind to it, i am sure you are strong enough without having to go to any meetings, just as some people can manage to lose weight without going to weight watchers. If you find you are struggling then maybe consider joining a group.
You've done really well. Clearly the success of your channel has been a tonic. An addictive personality isn't necessarily bad if you channel that energy at something productive.
Well done brother you’re doing incredible! I’m glad you’re making loved ones happy, but more so that you’re doing it for yourself. Lots of us did it our own way, and the fact you’re beating it, means you’re way is the right way for you. Keep counting the days and enjoying those sunrises. Peace and love, Neil (6 years 8 months and 2 days).
Well done Gav.. it’ll be good to hear your wife.. like I’ve said in the past . I lost both of mine through my alcohol issues.. my contrasting personality and deceit caused them too much to cope with. Hang in to yours. You can do it.. we need as much honesty about this devastating illness that affects society. Mark.🤗👍👍🙏
Hi Gareth, I don’t drink I never have BUT I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY I AM 110% SUPPORTING YOU ALL THE WAY WHY BECAUSE GARETH YOU ARE ONE VERY DECENT FAMILY MAN & as you said your accident was meant to be a good wake up call so very well done 👍 keep it going all the best Lin 👍🙂🤗
You’re making great progress, just remember all it takes is one drink which usually leads to another and then Groundhog Day starts. I know you have a fight on your hands but you are winning 👍well done!
You may want to watch Julie, the Hospice Nurse’s YT video on high functioning alcoholism which is what she was. It may sound an odd recommendation, but she is very good on the subject as well, of course, her role as a hospice nurse! Well done, not only for giving up alcohol, but for telling us your story. Thank you ❤
Mate ! Well done proud of you ! my situation almost mirrors yours ! 40 years of binge drinking, getting into scrapes on and off all my life, all the trouble I've had in my adult life is down to drink ! my Mrs has stuck by me although 3 weeks ago I came home completely drunk and had a massive row with her and my eldest daughter, I'm ashamed mate and it was my rock bottom moment and I'm not going back. Forget AA mate, we ain't in that league, we are problem drinkers and not dependent, they'll label us dry drunks and more ! whatever gets you through mate, do that as long as you keep off alcohol. I've found some decent alcohol free beers, helps me loafs and keeps me off the real stuff. Glad I found your video. Keep it up ! 😊
Keep it going and well done for admitting you had a problem I had a problem 17 years + sober for me and I drank every day the best thing I ever did was stopping drinking your doing amazing mate 👍👍👍👍
So happy to see this for you. You have done so well you should be proud of yourself. Take it one day, one hour, one minute or one second at a time if necessary. I understand with the AA meetings, they are not for everybody but just know that they are there should you need them, as are the samaritains, they will listen if you ever feel the need to talk to someone. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks about you, what matters is what you think.
Congratulations Gareth, it takes a big man to admit that he is an alcoholic.. if you remember the first post you put out after your decision to quit you were not ready to admit that much. I even went so far as to say you were an alcoholic..I was pretty blunt, and I know it bothered you, but sometimes the truth is harder to admit.. anyway, I have to say that indeed it does take willpower, but I also believe it also takes the ability to recognise the "triggers" and to identify them so as not to fall into the same traps that cause people to restart drinking again after quitting.. I'd like to also congratulate your wife, she is the hero here..for putting up with you during those dark times...and a congratulations to your daughters..they have a father who can be a real inspiration and influence on thier lives.
It takes a lot of courage to face up to your demons, whatever they may be, so well done, stick at it, and think of all that lovely lolly you'll be able to save and enjoy in other more fun / useful ways.
Brilliant video Gareth!! Keep it going!! You are doing brilliantly!! Everyone deals with different situations and scenarios differently. Take care of yourself
Well done for keeping strong and your 100 days.ignore the fuckwits who say can't you just have one drink they no perfectly well that one drink will be your down fall..and your not a dry drunk your one step infront of the keyboard drunks just ignore bad comments..
I stopped drinking 12 years ago, I worked in the pub scene for most of my adult life, best thing I'd done in a long time, I feel so much better, no one needed to help me and I've never felt like I was missing something, you do it your way mate, if it works for you do it. 💚
Gareth you are a legend !! You dont need to go to AA ,you are honest and open on here ! You’re doing so well, keep it up. You will get there, I promise. By the sounds of it you already have. Take care and enjoy your family.
Fantastic stuff. You are helping so many people.
That’s great idea about you and your wife interview…it’s give a woman the effects of living with someone who is going thru the same .well done Gareth ..you must have a very strong wife and one that loves you..keep strong.
Well done Gareth, over 100 Days no alcohol. Take care Debra xxx
Totally respect your willingness to share, truthfully on this channel. Gareth. Thankyou 😊
Keep it up. All the best 👌 👍
Good for you, and your family hang in there it’s worth it for all of you,you are helping so many people I’m sure
BRAVO 👏👏👏👍
Respect to you Gareth and I’m pretty sure this will be helping others and yourself too👊🏼👊🏼
Don’t be hard on yourself, definitely be proud of yourself and I’m sure your family will be proud of you too.
You’ve got this Gareth, I’m sure, be well.😊
100 days brilliant Gareth your family must be so proud of you .
Your a brave guy putting it all out there.. fair play to you👍
Brilliant mate isn't it.
So best wishes keep going a day at a time❤
Actually admitting you are an 'Alcoholic', is the 'Next Big' step in your recovery, again, well done.( I have been waiting for this one.)
Great one mate can't believe its been that long. 8m really struggling but digging deep and carrying on 😊
You are Spot On, it’s about the mind and controlling it, you talk a lot of common sense, good vlog 👏🏻
Cheers Mark 👌
Well done lad. That's how I found your channel. Loved it ever since. Was meant to be. All the love man xxx❤
Great work Gaz, keep it up it will get easier, you have great support from your wife and two lovely kids, they are the most important thing, proud of you my friend. 👏👏👍
Thanks 👍
Well done Gareth me and my son David love your videos especially the ones where you go out
Ive been watching your reviews for awhile and ive seen you getting stronger.
Cheers 👌
Well done, you look really well, Keep it up one day at a time buddy
Mark.🤗👍👍🙏
Keep it up mate you're doing great. I'm going through the same struggle.
My man, congrats on 100 days!!!!! All the best to you bud, thanks again for sharing your story 👍
You’re making great progress, just remember all it takes is one drink which usually leads to another and then Groundhog Day starts. I know you have a fight on your hands but you are winning 👍well done!
SO proud of you!! Following...and really feeling your journey. Massive congratulations! Woohoo from Newfoindland, Canada!
You're welcome 😊
You may want to watch Julie, the Hospice Nurse’s YT video on high functioning alcoholism which is what she was. It may sound an odd recommendation, but she is very good on the subject as well, of course, her role as a hospice nurse! Well done, not only for giving up alcohol, but for telling us your story. Thank you ❤
You have done brilliant Gareth. Inspirational.👍
Cheers Ian. Have a good one mate 👍
Thank you, you're welcome 😊
Keep it going and well done for admitting you had a problem I had a problem 17 years + sober for me and I drank every day the best thing I ever did was stopping drinking your doing amazing mate 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for brilliant video giving hope to lots of people on the same trip.
Proud of you mate.... you have come so far and your looking really healthy..... RESPECT!!!!
Thank you! Will do!
We all admire you Gareth , it’s been a hard road and will always be . But you have strength and wisdom . God bless you and family . Be happy . 😊😊😊
Gareth you are a legend !! You dont need to go to AA ,you are honest and open on here !
I am 7 months dry which my family are extremely proud about and i never want tk drink again ,to the point of panicking about going out to a posh (lol) restaurant and having a course that has a red wine reduction with it 😅....
Keep up the brilliant work you are smashing it 🎉
