The difference is you stage 2 TCU puts a smile on your face you didnt think was possible. The trans tune IMHO is essential to get the full experience. And what amazed me is I went from a 10mpg average to 17mpg average on e85 after doing the tcu tune. But I NEVER take it out of sport mode dynamic unless i got a car with a light bar on the roof behind me. If anyone is on the fence, hop over and just do it. You wont regret it. My brother tunes demons, hellcats and all the modern domestic power houses in well known shop in the chicago land area. He has driven things and owned things with twice the power of my car. And he still says my s5 is a beast and rips. If it sucked, he would tell me. But he is truly amazed with what your able to do with your tunes. And with people lining up to only have my brother tune their cars and him having a backlog? Id say thats one hell of a compliment. TCU2 is life. The ONLY thing I would change and its not even a big deal is I wish it would down shift into first before coming to a full stop. But thats miniscule compared to what I got for the money. Thank you guys for really caring about your customers and doing all you do.
Do any of the TCU tunes affect the Torque Converter lockup? I'm pretty happy with the car in stock form, don't really need any more power but I don't like the way that the torque converter takes forever to lock up when taking off from intersections. It should lock up in 1st gear in my mind but it waits until you are half way through 2nd before it locks up and it means the car just moans along before finally locking up. I had a B8 S4 before this and the Dual Clutch transmission was a million times better IMO.
The torque converter on a ZF8 does not stay locked through 1st and 2nd gear. What you're experiencing is a normal function of the ZF8 shifting behavior where the torque converter smoothly rows through the gears for smooth drivability. If you were to floor the car from a stop, you would feel the torque converter fully lock and the car putting down all of the power.
@@034MotorsportUncut Yeah I know what you mean. When I take off quickly the torque converter locks up very quickly but when I am just driving normally, it moans its way through 1st and 2nd before finally locking up. It sounds terrible (kinda like a CVT) and I hate it. There are a lot of big speed bumps around where I work too and every time I have to slow down to go over one and then speed up the car just moans away in 2nd gear. It's horrible. After owning a dual clutch and now going back to an automatic, I will never buy another automatic transmission unless they sort this out. Chances are my next car will be electric anyway.
Stage 2 TCU is definitely worth the upgrade; switched from APR stage 1 ecu to stage 1 034(93). Not sure what APR did to address TCU but I went for the stage 2 TCU with 034 and it transformed the car. Shifts under full throttle literally kick you in the back; not sure what it’s done for 1/4 mile or 0-60 but it’s a lot more fun to drive🤩
Everyone this post is accurate. I had 034 S1 ECU 93 and feel this S2 TCU completed the package. I’m also fully 034 chassis upgrade plus intercooler and notice better throttle to wheel feel. I’m uncertain what this did for my performance times yet the ride feels more responsive and fun.
Have you ever done any comparos between the same vehicle setup but just flipping from a stage 1 to stage 2 TCU tune? I've always wondered how much difference the TCU stage 2 tune actually makes for different metrics (1/4, 1/8, 0-60 launch control, 0-60 no launch control, 5-60, 60-130, etc.). Is stage 2 TCU intended to get better objective performance out of the vehicle or is it just meant to give it a more sporty "feel" or improve driveability but not necessarily improve hard numbers?
Our Stage 2 TCU software is intended to get you the best performance out of the stock turbo by providing optimized shift points that keep you in the powerband, AMAX shifting to 6th gear (crucial in the 1/4 mile), and the fastest shift speeds. You will see an improvement in acceleration times with this upgrade.

Looks like the way to go for me with the current setup I have. Can you elaborate more on Kickdown Mode removed in manual? I drive with the Stage 1 ECU/TCU tune mostly in S and use the paddles quite a bit during my drive. I do like the current setup if I inadvertently downshift with the RPM too high it stays in the current gear. Is this affected by the mode removal?
Kickdown is referring to the small "button" at the end of the gas pedal travel that clicks when you fully depress the throttle. From the factory, this tells the TCU to kick down to the lowest possible gear regardless of if you are in drive, sport, or manual shifting mode. With our software, we keep the kickdown function working in D and S, but disable it in manual mode to ensure you do not accidentally downshift when fully depressing the throttle.
You could use your flashing device on both vehicles, but one purchase of a tune is for one VIN. Once it is flashed to that VIN, it is locked to it. You would need to purchase the tune again to flash another vehicle.
On the Pump fuel files, the shift points at WOT remain at 6500 as that is the fastest. On the E85 TCU files, they are lowered to match the different torque curve of the E85 file. If you are running pump fuel (91 or 93 octane) and the 91/93 TCU file, then your car is behaving normally.
Also can’t wait for the Stage 2 TCU tune for B9.5 S5. Any ideas how far away? The 034 Stage 1 98 tune transformed my S5. ZF8 a bit lazy though since coming from tuned A4 Avant with DSG. I’m hoping the new TCU tune will finally take the S5 to where it should have been from factory.
There are no required upgrades for our Stage 1 software. You can always add an upgraded intake and intercooler if you desire and if you're looking to get a bit more out of our E85 files, you can always add on our high pressure fuel pump upgrade. All of this and more can be found on our product page: www.034motorsport.com/b9-b9-5-audi-s4-s5-sq5-3-0-ea839-performance-software.html
Is there any TCU stage that will allow me to manually skip gears? I want to shift from 4 to 6 or vice versa, but the transmission will still touch 5 on the way there instead of skipping it.

Stage 2 TCU for B9.5 S4. Im dying without it.
Currently in development!
Are all of the safety features in S1 TCU still available in S2 TCU
Yep! All OEM safety features are retained on Stage 2 TCU too

If I have two b8.5 S5’s can I flash both of them or would I need to buy the tune again?

Is the stage 2 tcu available for b9.5 s4 yet?
It is not. We're still working on unlocking TCUs for late 2022+ models

Hopefully soon :)

Can I use Stage 2 ECU with stage 2 TCU? I don’t want to break anything expensive 😂😅
Absolutely! Our calibrations retain all factory safeties to ensure reliability isn't compromised.
is it bad to run stage 1 ecu but stage 2 tcu? can you even do that?
Not at all! You can run Stage 1 ECU with Stage 2 TCU!
Will a stage 1+ (intake and intercooler) ECU tune work better with a Stage 1 or a Stage 2 TCU tune.
It will certainly perform better with the Stage 2 TCU tune, though you can utilize either the Stage 1 or 2 TCU tune.
@@034MotorsportUncut great! Will do that while my downpipe arrives. Follow up! Do I need the upgraded HPFP for the E85 tune?
Is there any TCU stage that will allow me to manually skip gears? I want to shift from 4 to 6 or vice versa, but the transmission will still touch 5 on the way there instead of skipping it.
There is not. You can skip gears while downshifting (kickdown switch or holding down paddle), but not upshifting.
