MommyReporter Hopefully she'll leave. At 19, I doubt it a little but at least she has doubts and called in to Dave for that extra push so hopefully she got the strength to do it. I'd be more concerned if she was 35 tho.
It is kind of sad and she will learn from this. One day she will come to her senses and realize that thirty flew past and the bad boys won't give her a second look because she has already had fifty of them and the partying has made her look twenty years older than she is. Then she will go looking for a nice guy to help her with the kids of a few Mr neck tattoo's. At least that seems to be a common life track for young women these days.

Ty Maloney True, we don't know but unfortunately, asking your 19 year old GF of a little over a year to pay your mother's rent among other things when she herself only makes 20k is nonsense.
Holding him down would simply be keeping herself available and waiting for him to get out of jail right, not funding his and his families' lifestyle. Holding him down is encouraging him to do better or not complaining about riding the bus when he doesn't have a car. Date night at home because he doesn't have the money, helping him solve dilemmas with her sound advice, reviewing interview questions with him, studying with him, etc.
She called in because she is clearly torn, probably tired of being used and not confident in him and needed a little guidance in her own confidence department. She's being taken advantage of and she can feel it.

Women don't settle for losers, they cut down a forest of good men in order to throw themselves at bad boy losers. Women will cut their best friend's throat to take a loser away from her if he has the slightest bit of charm. Women will throw out a man who is willing to kill and die for her in order to get used by a drug dealer and then she will laugh about it. Why do they do it? They're women.
That is pretty sexist but in my experience, I have made similar observations. When I was young, I was smitten by a young lady that picked a drug dealer with a long criminal record over me. An employed, responsible man with no criminal record. I know that she regretted her decision. She kind of lucked out because her choice died from heart failure at the ripe old age of 32.

If she were actually close to her father, like she says, she would've had this conversation with her father. I'm certain it's a pattern that continues until the woman gets her head on straight about her father and is ready to move on

SMH! Was in a very similar situation last year, I was 20 dating a 29 year old who never had enough money. Started small: phone bill, water bill, groceries... by the time I wizened up I was paying for his rent and his court costs, lending him my car and he asked me to buy him a motorcycle😫 wasted over a year and over $2,000. Don't be like me.

My father was a banker. He taught me that a real man never asks a women for a dime while they are dating. If he does, he is scamming her and as soon as the money stops he will disappear. and Vice Versa for men. If someone you are dating has a sad story and wants money. Tell them you do not give away money to people who can earn their own. Then run.

Dave asked the right questions. She should have spoken to her father and/or brothers. My Dad told me never to fund nothing for no man. He needs to work and contribute and that applies when we are married. Dating period should be about having fun not doing married couple business.

If a man is money dependent, that is a huge reflection on who he is as a person. My husband works hard and puts supporting his family as the priority of his life because he knows that that is what a real man does. I knew a guy who was dating a girl and when he became disabled and unable to work he broke up with his girlfriend and told her to go to college even though she wanted to stay to support him. That was how he kept his honor in tact. He took care of himself and got himself to a point where he could support himself despite the disability. To me that guy is a real man, not this girl's boyfriend.
