  • There are so many ways to house your Coturnix quail! We personally prefer to raise our quail on the ground in a natural environment, but the possibilities are endless.
    As long as your birds each have at least 1 square foot, shelter from the elements, protection from predators and 24/7 access to fresh food and water - they will be happy as pie!

    I also saw putting a cage on top of a raised bed and allow them to help fertilize the bed for a while. Kinda like a tractor setup. I want to try that next

    I have all my quail in cages with normal wire floor but they have a big sand bath and where they can get off of the wire and in the winter I put them in a aviary 😂

    i use a rabbit hutch, cats are a problem with most cages even 1/4 inch wire.

    Thx for sharing. Have you ever had your quail jump up when startled and hurt themselves? Because of this, I have heard no more than 12 inch high ceilings or no less than 5 foot high.

    • @AliBell13109
      @AliBell13109  Год назад +2

      It’s a valid concern! They do jump! Our smaller enclosures are more than 12 in, but out of the hundreds of birds I’ve raised this summer, I only had 1 jump and hit it’s head to the point it resulted in a neurological issue and had to be put down. Something that helps, like with our rectangle coop or totes - is having something as the roof that has “give” to it. Both the hardware cloth top and the corrugated plastic top have bit of give/bounce to it which helped if the birds jump up.

    when you walkin in time 9:14 is a home chicken ( chiken coops ) ??
    yeah im totally agree, when you said it a the quail didnt need a lot space.

      I find our quail are plenty happy with just 1 sq ft/bird, but they do love more space too if it’s a viable housing option! Chickens certainly need a lot more
