Picked up The Lemon Twigs in Napa at Right On records on a recent trip. That album was playing while I was shopping and I immediately added it to the stack. Great album.
Ducks Ltd. released an album called "Harm's Way" that was really good - R.E.M.ish. I thought Rosali's "Bite Down" was good too - sort of like Aimee Mann.

@@curly_wyn Q: when you say "for incels", you mean "incels like this" or "it's making fun of incels". Cuz its satire pretty much leans RIDICULOUSLY HEAVY on the latter.
Late to the party because I didn't listen to ANY albums released in 2024, so I decided to give myself a homework assignment of sorts over the last few days and listen to the ones that piqued my interest and come up with a ranking. Most of these I had in mind to listen to anyway, just haven't come around to listening to any of them until now. Needed a little incentive, I guess. Thanks, guys. Ha. So, here goes: I actually have an album that fits perfectly in the category Tommy came up with: "I wish I could, but I can't". And that (dis?)honor goes to - Hit Me Hard And Soft by Billie Eilish. I liked her When We All Fall Asleep album, but I'm just not interested in hearing anything else she's done, including her latest one. I did hear the song she did for Barbie, mainly because I saw the movie Barbie, but other than that, yeah. Sorry, Billie. Could change though, but for now, that's how it is. Now, for the ranking: 7. Evolution - Sheryl Crow (Funny enough, the one real downside about this album is the title track in which she seems to be a taking a stand against A.I., which is fine, but then all of a sudden in the chorus, her voice is sounding like Madonna's voice and then there's a guitar solo from none other than Tom Morello. Other than that, the album is good, though certainly not one of her best in my view.) 6. All Born Screaming - St. Vincent (What a tease she is. The first two tracks had me thinking maybe this album won't be for me and was considering shutting it off. Eilish would've had some company in that "I wish I could, but I can't" category. Then track three comes on and it was as if Annie herself popped up and grabbed my hand and said, "Don't you dare!" Contrary to the title, not everyone is born screaming. According to my mother, I didn't start doing that until the nurse started cleaning me. Then again, maybe that's not what Annie meant.) 5. Nobody Loves You More - Kim Deal (Kim's solo debut. How the album cover looks is basically how the album sounds. Beautifully quirky and I mean that in the best possible way. Sort of describes Kim herself, actually. St. Vincent/Annie Clark too.) 4. No Obligation -The Linda Lindas (Thank you Tommy for reminding me of this band. I remember seeing them on the Daily Show not too long ago and being really impressed, and this album only enhanced my being impressed by them. Also, I'm sure Paul would be interested to learn that in the Linda Lindas episode of What's In My Bag from Amoeba that the bassist picked up a copy of an anniversary edition of Redd Kross' Neurotica album and seemed very excited about it. Ha. Hopefully they'll be around longer than Care Bears On Fire were. Never heard of Care Bears On Fire? Exactly. Unfortunately too, but let's move on.) 3. Saviors - Green Day (Considering he pretty much studied Green Day's music for the tribute show, I trust Tommy in his evaluation that this album sounds like Dookie and American Idiot, but for me, it just sounds like Green Day being Green Day for the first time since Revolution Radio, and as someone who thought Uno Dos Tre were good and compared Warning followed by American Idiot to Rubber Soul AND Revolver being followed by Sgt. Pepper, safe to say, I approve!) 2. Prelude To Ecstasy - The Last Dinner Party (Going through the comments for the songs on this album, I saw people comparing the music to ABBA, Lana Del Rey, Florence + The Machine, Sparks, Meat Loaf, even Bowie. At one point, I figured maybe the Slits meets Kate Bush. If any of those comparisons pique your interest, check it out. And possibly find out how wrong all those comparisons are. Or at least some of them. Most likely mine. Ha. To me, it's quite a special and unique album and a rewarding listen.) A Dream Is All We Know - The Lemon Twigs (Well, as I pointed out in a comment in a previous video, I do like the Friends theme. Ha. I friggin' LOVED their previous album Everything Harmony, and yep, they blew me away again with this one. I wouldn't say it topped the Harmony album, but it certainly came close. Yeah, I giggle and point out, "Oh yeah, that's definitely the Byrds" or "the Beach Boys" or "the Beatles" or whoever, but this album is GREAT whatever it sounds like and I am constantly blown away by how talented these two bros really are. Along with St. Vincent, they're the most interesting artists making music today as far as I'm concerned. In an alternate universe or in a more perfect world, they'd be the hottest thing going in music today. Like Taylor Swift hottest thing going. Not sure if they wanna be THAT successful, but I certainly wouldn't mind if they were. Maybe if Taylor dated one of them, it'd help. Ha! If there's such a thing as "ErnestIII core", this just might be it. Maybe with some Ramones-like punk thrash as well.) 100,000 Volts. Is this the fifth album that Ace said is the best one he's done since his first solo album? That first solo album of his is great, actually. I heard recently Eddie Kramer say that Ace was the "heart and soul" of KISS and his guitar playing is underrated. I'm not arguing with him on that. Oh sure, these days, unfortunately, he seems to be a shadow of his former self and isn't playing as well as he used to and seems to rely on those who prop him up based on his past glories, but back in the 1970s, in his prime, I think he was fantastic. Hell, even on the KISS reunion tours, he was good. Btw, Ace point blankly said somewhere that he owes the IRS and that's at least partially why he's still working. So that answers that question. A songwriting session with Gene Simmons? I know he makes a big deal about writing with Bob Dylan once, but does he think he IS Bob Dylan now? Ugh. Ringo has a new album coming out this month that I think sounds pretty good, so there's that anyway. I've seen Ringo's All-Starr Band twice myself, 2001 and 2006. Funny enough, Sheila E was in both bands. And I think I told the story in a comment in a previous video about the 2006 show where Edgar Winter, who was in the band, did Frankenstein right when a thunderstorm broke out and it was friggin' awesome. It was the PNC Bank Arts Center, one of those outdoor shed venues, so yeah. Ha!
Well awwright... Happy Thursday my musical family!! So we're doing 2024 Albums Of The Year...ooh! None, goodnight everyone. Okay, I do have some albums that I do enjoy in 2024 but not as much. So today, I have 5 albums...my top 5 albums and a whole lot of worst because it is a bunch of trash that year. Don't worry Damar, they're going back to the 70s next week just be patient. So let's get started. My Top 5: 5. Judas Priest - Invincible Shield (pretty good album. The only song I'm not a fan of on the album is "Devil In Disguise". It sounded like a typical rock radio type song that Seether or Three Days Grace would do. If the song came out in the 80s, that would be different.) 4. David Gilmour - Luck And Strange (another good album. I've realized that whenever a legendary act puts out a new album, it'll be some songs that is meh or not good and some would be the highlights of the album. And I feel that way with this as well as Priest and couple other artists on my list) 3. John Oates - Reunion (definitely a great personal album after him and Daryl went their separate ways) 2. Tears For Fears - Songs For A Nervous Planet (kinda cheated here but hearing this part studio, part live album is awesome. Especially the studio songs with Roland's and Curt's voices sounded perfectly aged like wine) And my number one favorite album of 2024 goes to: 1. The Cure - Songs Of A Lost World (I've listened to this album couple times when I got my copy along with the Tears For Fears album and just hearing "Alone"... omg, sounded like their 80s stuff but with Reeves Gabriels, who played with David Bowie, which is perfect. Chef's kiss) Now on to my worst of 2024: Beyonce - Cowboy Carter (ANYTHING BY BEYONCE...sorry homie but I can't stand her) Ariana Grande - Eternal Sunshine (ANYTHING BY ARIANA GRANDE...I definitely can't stand her) Megan Thee Stallion - Megan (ANYTHING BY MEGAN THEE STALLION... Really, really, really can't stand her...ugh) Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department (Anything By Taylor Swift) Ice Spice - Y2K! (Anything By Ice Spice...another one I can't stand) GloRilla - Glorious (Anything By GloRilla) Bon Jovi - Forever Anything by Logic Anything by Lil Yachty Anything by Lil Uzi Vert Anything by Lil Dicky Anything by Meagan Trainor And my worst of 2024 goes to... Paris Hilton - Infinite Icon (yes Paris Hilton released her second album in 2024 and she has Sia and Meagan Trainor on couple songs but the one song that made me put this album on my worst list is called "BBA" which featured one of the artists that I can't stand...Megan Thee freaking Stallion...ugh!! I hate both of them, I hate this album and I hate 2024. Except watching this channel to be part of the AISB community but still hate 2024.) Glad that I got that out of my chest. So that's my list and can't wait to talk about 1976 live albums next week. And before I forget, love the T-shirts y'all got on too.
And here we are, the final Albums of the Year for a while! Here’s my list, and I was surprised by how much I like albums last year! I got a 10 album list and five runners up! :3 1. The Lemon Twigs - A Dream is All We Know (amazing album, and My Golden Years is my favorite song of the year. Paul, I think “it just sounds like the Friends theme song” was the worst take you’ve ever had lmao) 2. Jessica Pratt - Here in the Pitch (come on, she’s great!) 3. Mk.gee - Two Star & the Dream Police 4. Liana Flores - Flower of the Soul 5. The Reflectors - Going Out of Fashion (the return!) 6. Clairo - Charm (come on Paul, great voice!) 7. Sam Evian - Plunge 8. Michael Kiwanuka - Small Changes 9. Daniel Romano’s Outfit - Too Hot to Sleep 10. The Last Dinner Party - Prelude to Ecstacy Honorable mentions: Charli XCX - BRAT Liquid Mike - Paul Bunyan’s Slingshot Rosie Tucker - Utopia Now! Redd Kross - Redd Kross Luna Li - When a Thought Grows Wings Most overrated: Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk The Cure - Songs from a Lost World Worst album of the year: Geordie Greep - The New Sound (It’s basically Talking Heads, Steely Dan and Zappa….but for Andrew Tate-loving incels. Terrible lyrics, and his voice is fucking awful. Here’s a sample of the lyrics: “And you have a bigger dick than any man who’s ever lived..and you can cum more than a thousand sssssstallionsssss.” UGH. Horrible.)

Thanks, Tommy, for Chris Cron.
Paul - you might like the band "Being Dead" and their 2024 album EELS. Sort of surreal and goofy but super catchy and slightly surfy...
