Have to say that there is a GLARING oversight on my list list. Like it would've been my number one...THAT glaring. Mark Eric "A Midsummer's Day Dream". Not sure how I missed it. Maybe because it was his only album? Either way, The Monkees album is officially off the list and Mark Eric is #1! (I wouldn't normally Monday Morning Quarterback my lists in the comments but this was just too egregious an error)

Loved the video! A very fair call on you all choosing ‘Van Halen’ amongst the fave picks, as it was truly groundbreaking and boasts a superb set of songs 🎸🔥
Individually, I very much enjoyed seeing Tommy choose ‘Weezer’; Paul ‘Cheap Trick’; and Crystal ‘Los Angeles’.
I will, with the utmost respect to my fave Power Trio, agree to disagree on some albums that were listed as worst/hated/overrated - but hey, that’s what loving music and having passionate opinions is all about! ✊
Thank you for the consistently brilliant content and for always presenting in such a fun yet educational way 🙏

I really loved the first XTC LP 'White Music'. I think it gets forgotten or ignored because the second album was such a poor followup. Then with album 3 'Drums and Wires' everything they did was great or at least very very good.

Hey everyone. So, I believe I've mentioned in the comments on a few of these videos that I have a favorite albums list on the site Rate Your Music (currently at something like 649 titles) which has been my guide in doing these lists. So, when this top 10 debut albums thing came up, I figured I'll just take all the debut albums on my Rate Your Music list and run down the "honorable mentions" and then give a top 10 from that. Well.... you know when y'all do those honorable mention lists that seem to go on forever? Well, my debut album "honorable mentions" were slowly making those seem like top FIVE lists, let alone top ten. Yeah, I'm with Crystal when she said it's difficult to narrow it all down and it should've been a top 20, though I don't even think a top 20 would help me. Ha! Maybe a bit, a TINY bit, but not much. So, I've decided to just give you my top 10 and mention my honorable mentions that were mentioned in the video. ("Everybody got that?!", Lord Dark Helmet asked the audience) So, here goes:
Honorable mentions mentioned in the video in no particular order:
    - Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols - The Sex Pistols
    - 3 Feet High And Rising - De La Soul
    - Pretenders - The Pretenders
    - Cheap Trick - Cheap Trick
    - #1 Record - Big Star
    - Upstairs At Eric's - Yazoo
    - Is This It - The Strokes (Sorry, Tommy)
    - Ten - Pearl Jam (Sorry, Paul)
    - Horses - Patti Smith (Sorry, Crystal)
    - Appetite For Destruction - Guns N' Roses
    - The Divine Miss M - Bette Midler
    - KISS - KISS (Kissin' Time and Love Theme have become sort of "low-hanging fruit" on this album, but I really don't mind them.)
    - New York Dolls - The New York Dolls
    - Murmur - R.E.M.
    - Ramones - The Ramones
    - Van Halen - Van Halen
    - Especially For You - The Smithereens (No argument from me when anyone ranks this album highly.)
    - The Doors - The Doors (My least favorite on the album is End Of The Night, actually. Love Alabama Song, however. Can understand getting tired of Light My Fire, though as part of the album, I dig it quite a bit.)
    - The Monkees - The Monkees (I like the Monkees Theme on the album. Sorry, Paul. Ha.)
    - Please Please Me - The Beatles (Wasn't mentioned by name, but yeah, how could I or anyone else not at least mention nor reference this one?)
    - Bee Gees' 1st (If they hadn't released albums before, this would definitely, UNQUESTIONABLY, be my no. 1. But since I'm more technical than Paul is in this regard, I guess, it isn't. Do I feel bad about that? Yes, I do. But there you go. And yes, they were managed by Robert Stigwood, or as the Bee Gees' mother called him, Stigweed, who was working for Brian Epstein at the time and then later went out on his own.)
    And now, the top 10:
    10. Sin & Soul - Oscar Brown Jr.
    9. You Broke My Heart In 17 Places - Tracey Ullman (Mm-hmm. I do what I want too! She did release a follow-up, so it counts.)
    8. Mr. Tambourine Man - The Byrds
    7. Angel Clare - Art Garfunkel (His debut SOLO album.)
    6. Marshall Crenshaw - Marshall Crenshaw
    5. Ritchie Valens - Ritchie Valens
    4. Walk Away Renee / Pretty Ballerina - The Left Banke
    3. Walk Through Fire - Yola (Nope, that's not Crystal on the album cover. It's Yola! Ha. A very recent one. More on it when we get to the 2019 albums video.)
    2. Here's Little Richard - Little Richard
    1. Bat Out Of Hell - Meat Loaf
Since I didn't count any debut albums by a band or an artist that only released one album a la Sex Pistols, I'll mention Ko And The Knockouts' self-titled album which I already commented about in the 2002 albums video. It would actually be in between Little Richard and Meat Loaf in the top 10. Yep, I like it that much.
Funny the police sirens started up right when Crystal mentioned The Police. Or were those ambulance sirens? I really don't know.
I'm with you on the Stone Roses debut. I've heard tracks from it and while it isn't terrible, I wouldn't exactly say it's one of the greatest albums ever. Maybe if there were songs like Mersey Paradise and Sally Cinnamon on it, I'd dig it a lot more. Ha.
John Mellencamp is a way better name than friggin' Johnny Cougar. Hope whoever came up with that got fired later on.
Katie Hudson's album sounds like it could be an early album by Amy Grant.
Even Bjork herself doesn't acknowledge that self-titled debut of hers. Like how Pantera never acknowledged Metal Magic or any of that early stuff of theirs.
I never had To The Extreme either. I still don't. I was young enough at the time to be into it, but I wasn't. Then again, I was prejudice against anything (well, most things) that was contemporary at the time, but I still don't care for it. Ha.
If you go into Wonderwall Music thinking it's a George Harrison album like All Things Must Pass is a George Harrison album or 33 & 1/3rd or Cloud Nine etc. and not a movie soundtrack which is what it is, then yeah, you're gonna be disappointed. You may not even like it as a movie soundtrack, but you'll probably be less disappointed about it anyway. Ha. And you'd be REALLY disappointed if you went into Electronic Sound with that mindset as well...
There is proof that Patti Smith co-wrote Because The Night in that Bruce had the song and when Patti did her own version of it, she changed some of the lyrics to best suit her own take on it. I think the producer Jimmy Iovine explained in an interview that the stuff about "love is a ring, the telephone" was hers because her relationship with Fred Smith at the time was via the phone or something like that. Bruce did his original version live a number of times (it's on that Live box set of his that came out in the 1980s) and there and through Patti's version, you can hear what was changed. Nilsson's biggest hits were covers as well (not counting Coconut anyway). Besides Patti, I also beg to differ with Crystal on Hole's Live Through This, and I'll just leave it all at that. Love 'ya, Crystal. ;)
So, 2017 albums next week. Spoiler alert: I only have one album for it. See y'all then. :)

I considered about 100 albums before I narrowed down my picks. I chose what felt right today. My lists always have some (to lots of) wiggle room. Crystal, I was so happy to see Yaz on your list! Alison Moyet’s voice is phenomenal. One of the best synth pop/dance albums of the early 80s - Vince Clark made the right decision to leave Depeche Mode and carve his own path. I much prefer them after he left, and they’ve been a favorite band of mine for over three decades.
Tommy read off a soundtrack of my childhood and pre-teen years! Cars, GNR, Sex Pistols, Beastie Boys - all seminal. I’m just a bigger fan of the Beasties 90s records. Paul, love to see The Doors at #2!
Pure musical & vocal alchemy. I did not grow up in a classic rock household and The Doors opened my mind to 1960s rock music. My teenage mind was blown.
Then you really had to go and include The Stone Roses, NIN, Violent Femmes, RATM, Core, and Ten on your hate/overrated list! Trampling on my high school memories.🦶🤣 This was an excellent idea and a lot of fun!

Interesting idea! Off the top of my head, I’d start building my list with Van Halen, the Cars, Kiss, Bee Gees 1st, and Boston, which were well represented in your lists. I really like Someday Man, so it is also worth considering for my list. Albums that y’all didn’t mention that I love include:
    Look Sharp!, Joe Jackson
    Get the Knack, the Knack
    Gordon, Barenaked Ladies
Fountains of Wayne, Fountains of Wayne
My Aim Is True, Elvis Costello
Bat Out of Hell, Meat Loaf
Welcome to My Nightmare, Alice’s debut as a solo artist, so I think it qualifies
Ben Folds Five, Ben Folds Five
And that’s what I’ve brainstormed sitting here on my back porch. If I go inside and check my library, I’m sure I’ll find a handful more titles that I’d put into the hopper, and then whittle it down to a top ten……

    Well awlright!
So I had a change of plan as to how I would engage with this particular vid… I was going to watch Paul, Crystal and Tommy go through their picks first; then choose my own picks; and then start posting my thoughts on the many lovely lists gracing the comments section.
It occurred to me that watching the vid first - or looking at what other AISB fans had selected - could very well influence my own picks, so I decided to exit RUclips; put down my phone; sit in a quiet room; and jot down the first 50 debut albums I know I love that popped into my head.
Now I know I’m being rather generous to myself picking 50, but given that not even a hundred is enough, there’s no chance I was only picking 10! Fair play to everybody who managed that extraordinary feat - and went so far as to rank them - but I felt I couldn’t do it.
Instead, I have attempted to ‘feel’ this list by simply providing you all with the first 50 my pen committed to paper. I figure these albums in particular must have been there, ready for recall, for some reason or other, so perhaps this is the purest selection I could have provided? Unedited, unfiltered, unranked and untouched from any outside influence (i.e. you guys). I was surprised how quickly they came to me when I got into the flow, as if they were being silently dictated 🤔
They’re in no order (chronologically, alphabetically or otherwise) other than that in which my tired brain presented them to me, so here we go…

Very eclectic list! It’s nice to see several decades represented. I have to disagree about DM though. Their debut is my least favorite and I’m beyond happy Vince left to form Yaz and Erasure. It's all practically a toss-up at this level. 😀 I think the way you presented your list makes a lot of sense. (Will comment on it later.) You are completely justified in going 50 deep for this category. The result is very impressive.

Well, I suppose if Tommy hates Bad Brains, it makes sense he would hate Germs. Personally, I think they're great albums because of all the flaws. Isn't that the essence of punk? A great debut for me would be R.E.M.'s Chronic Town, even though it wasn't their true debut and it's an EP. Still, I think of it as their first album. If Paul can count Bee Gee's First.
