I was there then hoping to run into you guys, I was at the marked off zone in a Blue Hummer. You guys did better then me but we put several on the beach too
Awe man, sorry we missed you. Glad you got some fish. That might be the last time we'll be out there for a while so you'll have less competition next time haha. Good luck on your next trip.
Wow EPIC is an understatement, you guys seem to have it figured out!! Just curious what factors tell you to go to put you there at the right times? Thanks for what you guys do your truly appreciated!!
Thanks for the comment. Usually between March and April we look for consistent South winds that warm the water to between 60-65. It's a known migration that happens every spring. The hard part is timing up the conditions when you can get off work and be out there when the drum schools come through.
Sorry we missed ya. Definitely a great bite! We've been out before where we miss it by a day or 2. This time we finally got it right. The worst is getting out there then the conditions change. I probably would've caught a lot more if I just fished instead of trying to film it all. But it ended up being great for my son haha. Hope you stay on em and have a great summer season until the big drum come back through in the fall. Thanks for checking out the video and for the comment.
We took bologna and cheese sandwiches yesterday as well but really didnt have much going on, better then being home, were only about 3 hours away so we get down there often.
Man amazing catches! Is drum fishing best at night? Lived in NC for 18 years and only done lakes and rivers! Have to give OBX surf fishing a try! Do you have a video on setups, rod and reels?
Thanks for the comment and questions. Yes, drum typically bite better at night but you can catch them throughout the day. Here's a video I made a while back that talks some of the basics --- ruclips.net/video/iJJyU1atyjQ/видео.htmlfeature=shared
I'll work on another video to talk through the different set ups. Definitely want to help folks catch fish. For this type of fishing we usually use 12-13ft xhvy rods with baitcasting reels, 17-20lb test. Standard surf fishing to catch a variety of fish we usually use 9-10 ft medium spinning and casting rods with 14-17lb test. Search fish finder rigs and hi-lo rigs.
LRO puts the wind in my sails and takes the air out of my tires! Great catches and video.
just awesome great job
Thanks buddy
Dang guys… leave some for everyone else! Good times!
They were all released so technically we did leave them all for someone else haha. Thanks for the comment buddy.
It is us from you saw us in Hawaii at the dock. Yes, it is us we saw you. We’re watching you walking our names.
Sweet I'm there next time.

Great vid and awesome catches! I got into rod build last year. Lots of fun. Fish on!
Thanks! I'm not crafty enough to build a rod but my son has been cranking things out.

What are the laws on big drum catch, I noticed you were releasing
In NC any red drum over 27 inches has to be released. You can keep 1 red drum, between 18-27 inches.
Nice. What line setup are yall using
We run 20 main line and 40 shock leader. Lots of guys run 15-20 main and 40-50 shock leader. The hook bite leader we usually use 80-100.
When in April was this? Thanks!
Last week of April
