    Aloha! I'm watching this in late September 2023. A bittersweet experience, given all that has unfolded. In your visit, you have captured the vibrancy and 'energetic Force' that IS Maui... and to which it will return. Mahalo for your deep commitment to Hawaii, its people and the Spirit of Aloha!

    Great informative video as always. If tourists are quick to spend and stingy with time then charge them for volunteer time. Pay locals to do the volunteering since jobs are scarce. $20+ an hour seems fair for this special place.
    Aloha

    All the islands are great. I love them all but ended up in kona. Will I try living on Maui or Oahu? Time will tell. Either way so glad I moved to these beautiful islands.

    Maui is too commercialized. I prefer the Big Island, laid back, taking things slow. If you want excitement and night life, then live on Maui or Oahu.

    My goal is to have a piece of land and a home with a workshop in the upcountry of Maui, on the road up to Haleakala. Around 2,000 feet up, much cooler.

    I'm not trying to promote a stingy attitude, but paying the amount you do for a vacation on Maui (especially 10k or more) IS giving! It's not "just taking."

    You should have mentioned that residential property tax rates on the big island are more than DOUBLE what they are on Maui. And the homeless situation in Kona is out of control.

    If Hawaii didn't have tourists that brought the dough from mainland it would be in trouble

    • @rdnugent1
      @rdnugent1 Год назад +5

      The "horrible tourists" are what put food on the table. There were literal breadlines two miles long in Maui during the pandemic lockdown. It sounds very austere and above the fray to put down tourism in Hawaii, but let's be honest - tourism is what keeps it afloat.
