    We saw you guys a week or so ago in Kona, but didn’t want to interrupt your good time, so here we are dropping you a belated “aloha” and a “mahalo nui loa.” We used your resources a lot when we moved to the island and are so grateful for what you do. Thank you!

      I will add-factually, removing sand from the island, will bring terrible luck. We were young and didn’t know enough about being respectful to the island. We took sand from Green Sand Beach-we didn’t make the connection and we threw the sand away during a move. Haunts me to this day that we should have mailed it back to the island.
      I tried to pay respect to Green Sand Beach after my husband died, during a visit 2 years ago.
      Respect the Islands is a real thing❤️

      We went to the Kona Canoe Club just 2 weeks ago. We had an early happy hour with a bucket of shrimp and Nachos. I had a delicious Creamsicle Martini. Hubby and son-in-law had great cheeseburgers that they had made to their specification, even though the menu was not as wide as the previous Cheeseburger selection. Great place for a late afternoon relaxing time.

    At 4:46 the coffee shop, they’re da best at letting you try every flavour, so friendly, I have to get my iced vanilla Mac nut coffee every morning when in town. Also, at the Kona Inn, did you notice the roof fan system they still have running to help cool the restaurant air? All giant belts and pulley systems from back in the day to turn those fans, brilliant!

    • @napili5470
      @napili5470 Год назад +1

      Thank You for that. I was wondering if that was the Kona Inn for sure since I haven't been there since the seventy's. Interesting fact, In the seventy's You could sit on the Sea Wall on Ali Drive and count the cars that would go by. You could not see more than 30 in an hour.

      We were in a condo in the southern end of Kaulua Kona on Ail'i drive, from May 8 - May 18 and never needed A/C. Ceiling fans and wide open patio doors out to the lanai kept us comfortable the entire time.

    Your videos make me want to come back to the Big Island! from Indiana it's quite the trek. Also, Julie, I love your dress! FWIW, as a science educator, on my 2015 visit I collected 3 or 4 pieces of lava for our science department's rock collection. I out loud asked Pele if it was ok - she apparently thought it was, for educational purposes, because no ill came to me. But I asked, and I'm sure that made the difference. In 2019 hubby and I were careful to not bring any back with us.
