I am a kamaaina Living here on the big island i have lived here for 40 years. We residents become complacent. And we need to be reminded of how wonderful our island really is, and then you guys come along and remind us. Thank You!! Going for a hike tomorrow.
Hi Carol, your comment is really inspiring and we are so happy that our video has reminded you a little bit more about the beauty of the island you call home! Hope you had a wonderful hike and we really appreciate you checking out this video! Thank you! :)
We hope you enjoy the fourth and final video in our Hawaii Travel Itinerary Travel series where we spent 4 days exploring Hawaii - the Big Island! We'd love to know about places you have been to in the Big Island on your past travels or let us know about places that you're inspired to visit! We are always eager to learn more about things to eat, see, and do for the next time we visit Hawaii! 🌺We also would love to hear about places you’ve visited that we should check out in the future! Or if you have suggestions / feedback on how we can improve our content we’re happy to hear it too! 🤗
Hey guys, so I've been watching your videos over and over again but i cant make my mind up on which 3 islands to visit :( i only have 10 days so I defo want to do Oahu and Maui but I cant decide on the third, should i go for Kauai or Big island??? Can you even go to hawaii and not visit the big island?? I pretty much travel the same way you guys do aka like to cram and see EVERYTHING and as much as possible sooooo please help me pick!.
Hey guys! Final Hawaii video??? No! You need to go back and spend a week on the Big Island! lol. Your itinerary must include: Pololu Valley, Place of Refuge (Pu'uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historical Park), snorkel at two step and Captain Cook's, KONA! (the palace, the church, Kona Brewery, drink some kava...), South point, GREEN SAND BEACH, Akaka Falls, coconut island whew... plus lots of other historical sites, and i am sure you can find a lot of foodie places along the way... and BTW about the injury...ewwwwwww!
@@nv195 So sorry for the majorly delayed response!! We're happy that you watched all videos but feel your pain with deciding which 3 islands to choose for your 10 day trip. As for deciding on which island to visit, it can depend on what you're most interested in doing as an activity when you travel. If you travel in search of good food, then we'd recommend devoting time in Oahu -- Honolulu has a diverse and evolving food scene that matches the quality and inventiveness found on major cities on the mainland. Oahu also has beautiful beaches to snorkel or learn to surf on if you're a beginner (Waikiki being one of them). If you're more inclined to explore nature, go camping or love day- or multi-day hike, then Kauai may be a good contender also. If you enjoy spending a lot of time in the water and snorkeling then Maui can be a great option - there is also great hiking at Haleakala National Park and nature expeditions along the Road to Hana as well. If you'd rather get a taste of all the micro-climates and myriad landscapes, then maybe consider Hawaii the Big Island - from snow peaks, arid deserts, lush rainforests, volcanic lavascapes, gold, black, and green sand beaches. There is great food to be had on all the islands. So I think to consider one island over the island depends on what you really enjoy as an activity when you travel. BUT, if you really want us to pick for you then our opinion would be to visit Oahu, Kauai & Big Island. (Though if travel time is important to keep in mind with your travels then it may be safer to visit 3 islands relatively close to each other -- Oahu, Maui, Big Island). Don't know if this helps or is making it more difficult, but let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!
@@johnnyTURTLE. That's how we felt when we uploaded the finally Hawaii Itinerary Challenge series! Sad that that they're done --- but we're working on a few videos highlighting our favorite moments for each island too! So the Hawaii love isn't done yet! And yes, we absolutely need to go back and spend a week on the Big Island -- especially now with these wonderful recommendations you've provided. Thanks so much for sharing! Also, glad to see that you made it to the end of the video and caught a glimpse of the injury. It certainly wasn't pleasant to have that happen to Krista but like we said in the video - pretty funny that it happened when we were at the Volcanoes National Park. lol
@@PrestonKrista Guys thank you so much for your advice, I was so obsessed about which island to see that i ended up re budgeting, changing flights and begging my boss for a few more days off so i could fit all 4 islands in this one trip. my bf and i live in Dubai so travelling all the way to the US already takes 15 hours so we thought, screw it, if we're gonna do then lets do it right like you guys lol. We're exactly the same when it comes to travelling and like to see as much as possible while travelling. Your itinerary challenge videos are exactly what we needed while your tips in the latest Oahu video has been super helpful like making sure to have enough cash and where to a park. Thank you SO MUCH! cant wait to accept the itinerary challenge wooohoo :P
I really appreciated this video. You didn’t recommend or do anything stupidly dangerous or illegal, like so many American visitors, and you HAD A BLAST. We need more tourists like you 👍🏽
My husband and I came to the Big Island for the first time in 2017. We stayed for 11 days. The two things we said to each other on the day we flew back to Seattle were, “11 days was not enough” and “When do we get to come back for a second trip?” We just fell in love with the island. Maui, Kauai and Oahu are great, but BI is special. ❤️❤️ We just booked our 2nd trip for 16 days this time and cannot wait. 😁 Great video!
Oh wow MontagZoso! So lovely to hear you're going back but for longer this time -- so jealous! :D Thanks for checking out our video and we'd love to hear what you end up doing, seeing, and eating for your upcoming visit!!
Aloha, I run a camping company and eco tours. First thing I tell my guest is don't rush to see the entire island. Find a nice place and feel the energy and meet the people. If you rush and check the boxes than your visit will just be that like people on social media. This place is truly special and often times where ever you visit the best thing you can do is meet friends rather than visit sites. Because more than likely that local will volunteer to take you and invite you into their home to eat. So many local eats and spots everyone misses for tourist places. Come back and look me up I'll give you guys the true Hawaiian experience. Mahalo, Pat-Kona Nomads
((EDIT - no idea why YT is striking through the response - apology for the inconvenience!) Hi Pat-Kona Nomads, we really appreciate you watching our video and sharing your thoughts--especially as someone who runs their own eco-tour & camping company on the Big Island. We completely agree with you that more time should be spend on the Big Island to really get to feel the energy and vibe of the people. Unfortunately for us, we only had 2 weeks for our first ever visit to the state of Hawaii, and we decided for us that a general overview of multiple islands would suit our initial trip. After visiting 4 different islands and getting a cursory and surface-level understanding of each of their unique qualities, we definitely want to come back and devote more time to each island individually to better understand the true Hawaiian experience. We would love to take you up on your offer to experience the Big Island from your POV -- we will let you know when we come back to visit the Big Island in the future! Once again, thank yo so much for sharing you thoughts and wishing you much joy!
I worked on the island's for about 4 years, with a bunch of Hawaii guys and girls(we even came to work in myrtle beach s.c. for 9 months)you can not begin to see Hawaii in that amount time. Love it.kauai is the best!!!
Hey -- my Fiance and I are coming to Hawaii (Big Island) at the end of February and would love a behind the scenes tour from a local. We'd be more than willing to pay for your time and any ingredients for a shared meal :) -- feel free to reach out if you'd have time and would like to meet up: austinlbeveridge@gmail.com
I work in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and I’m so happy you two chose to stop by and experience the beautiful rain forest up here. I’m SO sorry you got rained out and krista had a medical emergency, BUT it’s all the more reason to come visit again, my absolute favorite time to view the crater is right at or after sunrise. Since were on the east side of the island, we don’t usually get much in terms of sunset (you get better sunsets in kona) but the Sunrises are to die for! Watching the sun rise over the crater? Something you definitely have to experience once in your life! Happy travels you two!
Hi Amanda!! Thanks so much for checking out our videos and it's so cool to know that someone who works at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park watched our video! We definitely want to come back as our visit was cut short due to rain and medical incident!! Thank you for sharing your recommendations of things to see and do at the Park! Can't wait to try them when we visit in the future! Hope you have a great rest of your day! :D
Howdy Amanda I was wondering since I live in Ohio and I’m about to join the navy but after I get out how hard would it be to get a job at one of the national parks
Just left the Big Island, stayed at the Royal Kona Resort in Kailua Kona.....by far my favorite island. Sunsets are insanely beautiful, uniquely gorgeous beaches, lots of hiking activities, caves to explore, great food. There's so much to do. Blessed to be able to visit Hawaii...magical place. Aloha.
I lived back in the very back of Waipio for a couple months, just living off the abundance of nature there. I get the feeling you can't just do that anymore, but it's even more beautiful as you get back into the valley, including a triple 1,000' waterfall dropping into a lush, swimable pool that feeds the river running through the middle of the valley. I've been all over this country, and that's probably the most beautiful spot I can think of. Visually, it may have some competition, but the climate clinches it for me.
You won't be able to do that anymore, Waipio Valley Road actually is closed to all traffic now, except the property owners in the Valley. Said to say, but it was long overdue. Most tourist don't respect the Hawaii culture and traditions, and that includes the sacred Waipio Valley too.
more than ten years ago.. i lived in big island for three months with my wife at YWAM house.. it was really exotic experiences i had never had before.. every dawn i'd open the daybreak standing on the backyard of my accommodation surrended by darkness, facing Pacific ocean far away and listening to the distant sound of rolling waves. it was an unforgettable memories which are still hovering in my mind..
So I clicked on this out of curiosity (being that I live here) I just wanted to say that I really appreciated the fact you took the time to learn how to pronounce the names. We really appreciate it when people learn to say things correctly instead of steamrolling it or nicknaming it. Mahalo brah, much love.
That plant is called Mullen :) it is great for promoting pulmonary and respiratory wellness. Also can be considered the charmin of the land. Great video! Thanks for taking the time to make it and share it.
My 3 days consisted of exploring the southern coasts black sand beaches, including Punalu'u beach, swimming with manta rays north of Kona, catching the sunrise at Paradise Cliffs then the day seeing different falls on the east side, including Akaka, driving down into Waipi'o Valley(the Jeep Gladiator we rented was an absolute must to do everything we wanted to do) seeing Hiilawe Falls, retreating back to Hilo before going to Mauna Kea for sunset and stargazing that night(Milky Way band was visible to the eye), then snorkeling at Hilo the next morning and touring the south side of the island again to see the southernmost point, then driving the Jeep to Papakolea green sand beach before trying to make it back to Volcanoes Natl park. I made that all one sentence because that's how it was...go, go go. Like you, I often do my trips cramming as much as I can to see all I can see. Then I try to go back with more time later. This trip was a chunk of a week on the Big Island, 2 days in Oahu and then flying to Anchorage for 8 busy days in Alaska...
My family is actually from Hawaiʻi Island, and i spend a lot of time there, especially in Waipio Valley. iʻm glad you guys got help getting down and decided to not drive yourselves.
Hi Halley-Ann, we're so happy that you checked out our video! We appreciate you sharing your comment with us too! It's lovely to know that you spend a lot of time down in Waipio Valley too especially since your family is from Hawai'i! :)
I live in the mountains above kona, and have been here almost all of my 42 years.Glad y’all got all around our amazing island ! The big island has such amazing culture and delicious food!
Haha just realized you visited holualoa where I live! And the plant on your last hike is a common mullein Explore the wonderful world of nature and add Common mullein into your plant collection with the smart plant identifier app -- PictureThis! www.picturethisai.com/web/general_download?source=appShare®ion=0
The plant you asked about is mullein. This is not very exotic, but I must tell you we have mullein here in SE Missouri, too. I am an herbalist, and I make two healing concoctions from mullein. One is ear oil from the flowers for earaches, and the other is a cough remedy from the leaves. I love the Big Island and you did a great job of showing some of the best spots. One spot very few folks seem to know about is Uncle Robert's, way down south near the Red Road and Kilauea. It's pretty indescribable, but I found it to be one of my most memorable experiences on the Big Island. There's a story that when Kilauea erupted, the folks at Uncle Robert's formed a prayer circle around their favorite place and held the lava at bay. The lava fell into the sea, and all around, but not at Uncle Robert's.
cannot wait to try and visit all the places you went to... but seriously, didnt need that clip of the cyst..ick... thanks for your informative videos!.
What perfect timing to get to see this as I'm planning my trip to the big island next month! Can't wait and a lot of the things you mentioned were already on my agenda so I know it's gonna be a great time. 😁
I love how you two had a great time on my Island, I've been here for 55 years, seen a lot of changes. I was sales manager of a local radio station Kbig (KKBG) and that tour. My Mom is from here and I still have family here on my moms side. Keep up the good work, Aloha Nui Loa. Jim
Hi Msagro5 - thank you so much for your kind comment! We are really touched by your encouragement and support! Thank you again for sharing with us and watching our video! :D
Yup others have said it, but the plant is Mullen. You can find it at high elevations. We pick it, dry it, and use it for tea. Good for both the lungs, And is an natural pain remedy. My dad drinks it to keep his back pain in check.
I think the plant you were asking about from your final hike is mullein. It's a tall, flowering plant with soft, fuzzy leaves that's pretty common on Hawaii. The leaves and flowers are actually edible and can be brewed into a tea, and the essential oil from its flowers is used to treat ear infections in folk herbalism.
Mike, Thanks so much for sharing this info! Looked up photos of mullein and it seems like they're the same plant! So great to have that question solved! It is also really cool to know about the different uses it has as well. :)
Your video was so much fun to watch, my family and I are going this Oct. for 11 days...this is my 4th time going and you two showed me that I havent even seen everything the island has to offer. I kept telling my husband did you know theres a farmers market up north? and the Kings valley, and most of the things you did. Now Im excited to get there and explore some more. I love the big Island! Thanks for sharing.

just came back from the big island last week!!!! it was great....and I totally share the feeling of hoofing it out of Waipio Valley. it was so much fun.

Amazing Hawaii blog yet again! I am from Oahu but always felt Big Island was and is home for me! Great job guys! And I believe that plant you guys were asking was the Silversword I believe. Mahalo!
Thank you Soljah! Like lostbefound said, we thought it was a silversword too that wasn't in bloom yet, but we weren't too sure so wanted get consensus from the viewer like you! 😊
Great video guys! I never thought about going on vacation to Hawaii, but now I'm considering it after watching your Hawaii series. Where to next? I highly recommend island hopping in Greece ( Naxos, Crete, and Santorini) being my favorites!
Hi Oscar - we're so glad to hear that you're considering a vacation to Hawaii after watching our Hawaii series! We'd love to know if you do end up going in the future! Not sure where we'll go to next, but we're really digging your recommendation to the various Greek Islands! Thank you!!! 😊
Hi SideHatchStudios, thanks so much for checking out our video and we're glad to hear that you found it helpful! :) We hope you have a fabulous trip when you visit the Big Island!
you guys..Thank You So Much!!! we're going to the big island (for the 1st time), in september, to get married - And this video was the Most Helpful -vs- all the videos I watched. Good Job!
Wow - Jessie C that will be a truly beautiful wedding to commemorate your first visit to the Big Island! We're excited for the two of you and hope you have a most wonderful time celebrating your upcoming wedding celebration. We're so glad that you found the video helpful -- that was our hope that it can be a resource for people like you making plans to visit Hawaii for their first or X amount of times! Have a safe travels and many blessings to you both! 😀
Congrats! I live on the big island. A few places I recommend is uncle Robert's down Kalapana. Across the street there is a new black sand beach. It is worth the walk. After that you guys can drive up the road to view the lava or take a lava tour boat ride. Green sand beach in south point is another spot. 4x4 is needed. Waipio valley is another must visit! As you can see if is beautiful but in person it is breathtaking. Laupahoehoe point is beautiful. If access isn't blocked off visit maunakea and maunaloa. Kona has the best beaches and hotels. Kohala is a nice town to visit. Oh and city of refuge is a nice place to see how the kanaka maoli lived. Like any state there is crime. Do not leave any belongings in the vehicle. If you see a group of people that look like drug addicts stay far away from them. Other than that the people here are loving. Oh and yes racism exists in Hawaii. Enjoy your time on the big island. Be safe and God bless. Imua!
The plant you were asking about is called 'mullein'. It grows all over North America as well and has been used in traditioal f medicinal folk remedies for many years. Check it out.
Great video. Thank you for stopping by. It warms my heart to see people enjoy and love the big island. The next time the both of you vacation on the big island again. Stop by uncle Robert's in kalapana. Walk to the new black sand beach. Take a cruise down the beach road toward pohoiki beach park. It was renamed to Isaac Hale park. Kona is a great place to snorkel. Puna side where I live is dangerous. Hilo bay is safer.
Hi Kevin- thank you so much for your kind comment and wonderful suggestions. We will certainly keep these in mind for our future visits to the Big Island!! 😊
Have a plan to visit this island for 5 days. I am hoping to experience sth more hardcore. Longer hiking per day, diving into the ocean, Manta Ray, blooming lava flow. Although I have never been here, I think this island is for adventure. The most beautiful scenery of hawaii should be on Kauai island. I've been there twice.
It sure does sound like you have an adventure-filled 5 days planned for your next visit to the Big Island! Hope you're able to do everything that you set out to do :)
Three days is not enough time on Hawaii Island. People don’t realize how big the island is and how much driving, and hiking/walking, you will do in order to see things, and going from one side to the other. Next time go for a week and you may still be able to do 50% of your list. Aloha.🌺
We agree with you that 3 days is not sufficient to explore ALL that there is see, eat, and do on the Big Island -- it is indeed much bigger than we anticipated (even with watching over videos, reading about it and listening to stories from friends in preparation for this trip)! Also, we couldn't do as much as we hoped since Krista had a medical incident. Though the next time we visit the Big Island we plan to spend more time there! If you have any suggestions for places we didn't have listed in our itinerary list, we'd love to know your recommendations!
On the west side of the island is a little known place called The Queen’s Bath, the hike to it and beyond to a bay are a several hour round trip as there are also fish ponds to explore. Very cool. In the East side is the botanical gardens at Onomea. Not far from What’s Shakin’ shake shack. Hilo town is old and funky, but built around Hilo Bay. The Queen’s gardens in Hilo are free and lovely to walk around in. It’s a Japanese themed garden. And there are many cool little towns on the East side. There is also an interesting sugar cane museum in a little town a few miles north of Hilo. Lots to see on the East side without so much extensive driving, but you’ll still be driving a lot but packing more into to your day. Lots of little VRBO rentals on the east side, too. Everything is less expensive on the East side of the Island.
We go almost every year and have been around 10 times. We stayed a week the first trip and hated to leave. Now we usually stay at least 14-18 days. We rent a VRBO cook many meals ourselves (usually beach BBQ and have eaten with locals) this keeps the cost down and allows us to stay longer. We also always drive people back up from the Waipi’o Valley. Informative and fun video (minus the cyst-but I did watch it twice!) 😳 We have done a lot of the activities that you did. I hope you can go back. There is still a lot to see!
@@randyandamyseiber That's amazing that you go back frequently! When you've gone back, do you usually stay in the same VRBO as previous years or do you try a new location each year? Being able to spend 2+ weeks at a time sounds wonderful. This is something we'd be interested in doing when we go back in the future. We'd love to spend more time on the island to get to know it better and get some more hiking under our belts (partially climbing up the road from Waipi'o Valley was excruciating yet fun -- it's really nice to hear that you also drive people back up too). We're really glad to hear you found our video informative and fun. We're also amazed you managed to watch the cyst not just once but twice -- that is commendable! >.
Preston & Krista We typically rent different VRBOs. You can find really great deals. My Aunt and Uncle have a condo in Kona and we often stay there for free which is awesome!
I am going to the island of Hawaii.. Hilo for 2 nights and Kona for 3 nights... I love your video!!! I don't understand the 200+ thumbs down? why??? anyway, I am sure I will have a great time and I will try to hike (or ride at the back of a truck) Waipio Valley.. Mahalo! (I just subscribed to your channel)
It’s a shame you weren’t able to make it to Hapuna Beach! My dad used to live in Hawaii, so I visited the island about four times... and I just fell in love with EVERYTHING there. I plan to become a marine biologist when I leave college and live there!
Hi Mason, Thanks for checking out our video and sharing your comment with us! It's really neat that you plan to become a marine biologist. Though we didn't go to any explicit exhibits or talks about marine conservation, we could really feel the care and concern locals have when they shared with us their love for the ocean. We hope we are able to continue our exposure and understanding towards proper ways to respect the ocean and be conscious consumers with conservation in mind. If you have any suggestions for starting off points for the layperson such as ourself, to educate ourselves, we'd love to know! As for Hapuna Beach, it seems like it was just the next beach down south from Kauna'oa (Mauna Kea) Beach. Hopefully next time we visit Hawai'i we will get the opportunity to visit Hapuna Beach, as it looks absolutely gorgeous based on photos online. Sending you positive thoughts on your pursuit to become a marine biologist based in Hawai'i! :)
Hello. I love the video and thanks for the tips Question? Where is the best place to stay during the week then I’ll be there I’m going to go to the big Island on May of this year
Great video....isn’t Hawaii people friendly to give you a hitch to the valley and back up. It’s your personality and kind appreciation that makes you blend to the culture. People like you are always welcome to visit the island anytime. How about doing zip line at the Umauma Falls and ditch ride in Kohala. Those are adventurous and exciting things to do. Very awesome video and thank you for a great advertisement, Promoting the Big Island, yessssssssss
I have taken many people back up with me multiple times. Its instilled in our blood. Give Aloha to us and we return it tenfold. The way you guys come with respect makes the both of you awesome. Mahalo nui loa.
Cummins808 Thank you too for sharing your generosity and aloha with others like us who visit your beautiful island home. We really align with the notion that being kind and respectful can manifest good blessings in the future. We appreciate you taking the time to watch our video and sharing your kinds words. Mahalo 🌺
Hey Peston & Krista! Awesome Big Island adventure! Sorry Volcano National Park was mostly closed off. Our family loves to go there but havent been anytime recently and we didnt know how much was actually closed until you showed it. We always get rained on when we go Big Island too lol! Omg Im glad you folks didnt slip running in the rain 🤙🏽👍. Wow that was a good one on your head Krista. Ouch =(. I’ll check out your next Oahu video soon! Aloha 😁🤙🏽
Hi PhotoLukeHawaii - thanks again for checking out another video! 😄It was a shame that much of the Volcano National Park was closed off but that just means that we will have to come back another time in the future to further explore if the different areas get opened up again. We're glad that we didn't get seriously hurt at all and only came away mostly unscathed save for the cyst explosion on Krista's head. 😣We appreciate you taking the time to watch our videos and share your thoughts with us! 🙏
Kealekekua Bay (Captain Cook Bay) is one of the coolest places to go! Between the months of December and March. The humpback whales come down from the Alaska region to birth their calves in warmer waters! :)
Oh wow, that sounds absolutely extraordinary, Aleks! When you saw humpback whales were you part of a tour or out on a boat to see them up close? We'd love the opportunity one day to visit the Hawaiian islands during the different seasons, as we've heard that there are such unique and beautiful things to see and do depending on the time of the year. Thanks so much for sharing this recommendation with us!
@@PrestonKrista Oh I have friends that have a home right on the bay. I stayed there for a week. They have the one with the green roof and electronically gated fence. They had kayaks so we did that. Literally almost got crushed because one jumped out of the water about 20 ft away. Haha it was great!
That's really nice you could stay with your friends and experience kayaking on the bay to get real up close to the whales! We did some research about kayaking prior to our visit and it seemed like there were a lot of strict rules about visitors kayaking on their own. We had considering joining a tour group to go kayaking, but after Krista's cyst infection, we had to reconsider our plans ;) Really appreciate you sharing with us and If you have any other recommendations or suggestions, we're always happy to read them and hopefully one day do them!!
FROM VOLCANO AROUND TO HONOKA'A ... ITS RAINING SOMEPLACE ALL THE TIME. LIVED KONA SIDE 15YRS, NOW LOWER PUNA(I LOVE!) FOR 17YRS ... NOT BAD FOR A GUY WHO SWORE HE WOULDNT EVEN VISIT!

I love the Big Island. You get the Hawaii experience without the large crowds and high prices of the other islands.
SHHHHHHHHHH!
@@thepunadude Ha!
I really appreciated this video. You didn’t recommend or do anything stupidly dangerous or illegal, like so many American visitors, and you HAD A BLAST. We need more tourists like you 👍🏽
We're really glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch it and for sharing your thoughts! 😊
Aloha,
I run a camping company and eco tours.
Mahalo,
Pat-Kona Nomads

Aloha.
Sounded like an amazing trip!
Sounds like an amazing and truly memorable experience! We really loved our trip there and the only regret is that it happened too quick!
Thank you so much!
That plant is called Mullen :) it is great for promoting pulmonary and respiratory wellness. Also can be considered the charmin of the land.
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to make it and share it.
Thank you!!
I’m so grateful to call that island my home where I’ve grown up in ❤️
It is such a beautiful island ✨We can't wait to visit again in the future to try and better learn and experience the island you call home!

Appreciate it!
Love the big island, can't imagine visiting without a fishing trip
The plant is Mullen! My neighbor dries it and then strains out the fuzzies and it makes a great respiratory tea! Very medicinal plant.
Thanks for informing us, Laci! Also great to know that is can be used to make tea. :)
They're everywhere in the Inland NW
What perfect timing to get to see this as I'm planning my trip to the big island next month! Can't wait and a lot of the things you mentioned were already on my agenda so I know it's gonna be a great time. 😁

I love how you two had a great time on my Island, I've been here for 55 years, seen a lot of changes. I was sales manager of a local radio station Kbig (KKBG) and that tour. My Mom is from here and I still have family here on my moms side. Keep up the good work, Aloha Nui Loa.

Love the Big Island of Hawai'I. I actually was born, raised, grew up and graduated high school there at Honokaa High School
Just returned today from there, I need to live here one day. This place was best I seen while there.
Oh, pre-pandemic travel 😍🥺
I know!
Yup others have said it, but the plant is Mullen. You can find it at high elevations. We pick it, dry it, and use it for tea. Good for both the lungs, And is an natural pain remedy. My dad drinks it to keep his back pain in check.
Thank you for sharing!

Imua!
To anyone who plans to visit... be respectful and listen to the locals when they say not to do something. We're only looking out for you.
Nah I’m not gonna be respectful
@@monke6654You might get your butt kick by a 6'5" Hawaiian local, and don't blame anybody.
So fun to watch! Fun to reminisce about our trip to BI. What kind of camera do you use?
The plant you were asking about is called 'mullein'. It grows all over North America as well and has been used in traditioal f medicinal folk remedies for many years. Check it out.
Wow thank you for this! Appreciate you watching and sharing your comments!
Oh god by all means do not go to Uncle Roberts 🤦🏼♀️
Awsome!!!! Loved it thank you!!!
Hi Alejandra, Thank you very much for checking out our video and sharing your comment with us! :)
It was super helpful!! And well done❤
Great loved it we have been to most of these places so brings back great memories planning again for Nov.2021 could not go this Nov. due to the virus.
Brings back memories awesome video
So glad to hear that it brought back memories and we're so happy you checked out our video! :)
Preston & Krista Thanks so much! Enjoy making RUclips videos and traveling! I’ll get back to you on that!
The tall plant is Mullen (great standby for toilet paper!)
Thanks so much for informing us Queen Shelley! Good to know that it has an handy emergency usage too!
Aka Foxtail... While a seemingly pretty spring flower... It's a noxious weed around these parts.
Mullein is the correct spelling. If it matters.
Need to hear more about the coffee plantation. Love me some Kona coffee!
Hello. I love the video and thanks for the tips
Question?
Where is the best place to stay during the week then I’ll be there I’m going to go to the big Island on May of this year
Hawaii Tree Fellers...best big island tree guys.
Thanks so much Ivy! We are happy to hear your kind words and can't wait to visit the Big Island again and try some of the suggestions you gave! :)
Mahalo 🌺
Great tips thank you, it seems like I almost need to rent a four wheel drive vehicle or a Jeep
Next time we will do that!
I live on the kona coast I hope you enjoyed your time here 🤙🏻 and ps you could have gone to the urgent care in Keauu on the Hilo side
Thanks for your video. We are trying to figure out which islands and places to cram into our short 5 day trip. Is the Kona coffee tour recommended?
Looks lovely. Thanks for sharing.
Hi World Travel Rafhat, Thank you very much for checking out our video and sharing your comment with us! :)

Hi Tyler, thanks so much for watching our video and sharing your comment with us! Good to know the name of the plant and that it is likely to be found everywhere. :) Hope you have a joy-filled day!
Great video I loved it. Am canadien and am going there in November. Thank you.
Hi Chantal, thanks for checking out our video! We're so glad you watched our video in preparation for your upcoming trip in November! We hope you have a most wonderful time during your visit and please let us know if you end up doing any of the things we did or discover other things that we should keep in mind for future visits! Safe travels and have fun!
Preston & Krista I will let you know for sure. Am 52 and am traveling alone, so after seeing your video I feel more secure now. Again thank you both very much.
Thank you for sharing, guys, we will try to do the same with my wife later on this year. Loved the video
