  • We put a large enough Victron Solar System in this Newmar Class A motorhome to run the AC plus about anything else they may need.

    Instead of having to go back and tighten all the stranded wire connections, but ferrules in them and there won't be any shifting or loosening

    Great job! Where do you find the 12v usb power module to power the touch screen? I need to do this mod to my install.

    Why did you go with the 2x120 Multiplus version and not the regular version (configured in split phase) since there are 2 inverters?

    • @sotasolar
      @sotasolar  2 месяца назад

      Great question. The easiest and most straight forward way to do 2x Multiplus inverters is to run them in parallel . The reason for this is, they are balanced by default. With running them in split phase we'd need to add an auto transformer, and as you can tell, there isn't much room for that in there. We talked about this option with the customer and this is where we landed. One draw back to the parallel setup is your minimum show input current limit will be 18.4 amps. Makes it hard to connect to a 15 amp outlet for shore power. Pros and cons to both.
      Thanks for the question.

      @@sotasolar Sorry another question. So, I assume that the inverters will output (invert) at 120V but will pass thru 120/240V split phase when connected to 120/240V split phase when configured in parallel like you have here. Is that right?

      @barrynelson440 that is correct.

    The component board really looks cramped. I’m just wondering how serviceable it is. It almost looks to me that the whole board has to be removed to replace a charge controller if one were to fail. Just saying.

      Definitely a concern we had but after discussing all options with customer this is how it worked out. We have a saying that “we may design it, but you have to live with it”. In this case the extra stage space available was more important to them.
      Both the auxiliary water tank and battery could be moved to service the board.
      Great point though and something that is a guiding principle for us.

    Liking your work. Question. This RV alternator is 12V? Not 24V. The 12 24 15 Orion will charge very slowly when he is driving. Was using more than one Orion not discussed?

      We did briefly, but the customer had to rebuild the alternator once and we didn’t want to overload it.

    What are the batteries you used. I was looking at the EG4 LL. What is your opinion?

      We had issues with the BMSes cutting out on those. We used SOK 24v
