    Lots of solar! Nice. Glad they added the 4th battery to go along with all that solar.

    I’ve used the upload/download of Multiplus II settings as an alternative to keeping an Ethernet cable attached. Works like a champ.

      @@sotasolar my cell has internet hot spot. If I must, I can pull the panel and do a hard connect. But, if I have problems, internet will be the least of my problems.

    Before you run the wire, wouldn’t it be easier to mark each roll and put a piece of tape on the end with positive one negative one positive two, negative 2?

    Shawn, Can you provide more details on the solar specifics of this install. I see 2 different size solar charge controllers. What is you panel wiring configuration (series/parallel configuration. Curious what the VOC/ISC of the panels are to handle (14) 200W panels ( I assume Rich Solar )

      2s3p in the 150/70 and 2s4p into the 150/100 running around 80-85 v , staying around 10-20 amps PV.
      This was supposed to be a relatively moderate system. It’s just kept grow and growing bit by bit during the install.

    I've been feeling stuck between going with 2x eg4 12v 400ah batteries or 3x SOK 280ah. I realized when watching one of your other videos that the EG4 is basically going to limit me to something like 1,440 watt (60a BMS) or 2,400-watt (100a BMS) draw before surpassing its max discharge rate and auto shutting down. Am I understanding that right? So my 3000 watt inverter is basically useless because it's limited by the EG4 batteries? The SOK can just discharge casually at 200a so with 3 I'll literally never be limited by the batteries discharge? Am I understanding all of this correctly?
    Reason I ask is, I will run an AC unit and a coffee roaster and routinely hit about 2,500 watts (from the inverter) for fairly short periods. Thanks!

      The EG4s we used did not work well on 12 or 24v , 48 might be different. There is a reason they don’t make an appearance on the channel much. :-)

    Do you have the specs on the 200watt solar panels (size, dimensions, performance specs) you use on rooftop? I am endeavoring to optimize the rooftop solar on my bus conversion between the hatches. I currently have six, 250watt Trina polycrystaline panels on two superstrut rails in a train rail config (two rails length of bus between the hatches). I am considering putting superstrut rails across the roof (side-to-side) resting on the two rails in order to more efficiently mount panels to use the space up to about the edge of the roof.

    It’s not wise to house electric components in the same compartment as propane. If a propane leak occurs one arch and its all over. You have to relocate the propane.

    • @sotasolar
      @sotasolar  6 месяцев назад

      I think that compartment is supposed to house a generator as well from the factory. That’s a great point all the same. I believe they do have leak detectors in that compartment.

    I don't get it?
    I don't understand the whole concept?
    SOK makes a 280 amp hour battery, why not use that instead? The batteries you are using are very old-fashioned.
    That's a large fifth wheel, so why not use a Victron Quattro, for a little more money.
    I don't like that system you put in for a fifth wheel, it seems babyish.

    • @sotasolar
      @sotasolar  2 месяца назад

      These are good questions. Why did we use the 206 ah SOK? because the pack well together. The 280ah battery has side mounted posts and handles that stick out on a different side. We can can't pack as many in there.
      Why not use a quattro? As of this writing there is not a 2x120 Quattro that is larger than 3000va . The 2x120 is important for handling the full 50 amp power coming from shore. To make a quattro 5000 work with a 50 amp RV we're left with complex solutions using auto transformers, Multiple Quattros etc.
      We try and design systems for customer's needs and budget. So far this customer is happy with this system and that is what our goal is. Thanks for watching and asking great questions.
