This was the first mainstream game where 8GB of ram was literally unplayable. Constant stutters, terrible %1 lows, freezing, sound cutting out etc. When i upgraded to 16GB my fps literally doubled in this game. I now run 32GBs because i don't want to be around when the same happens to 16 users lol.

12GB of RAM in 3 sticks is not optimal because one of those sticks will not be working in dual channel speed, making performance suffer if you exceed capacity of 2 sticks working in dual channel, in this case 8GB. It is better to use 4+4 and 2+2GB kits then they both will work in dual channel. Same with two sticks, if you have 8GB stick and 4GB stick together then dual channel speed will work only if you utilize less than 8GB of total ram, anything beyond 8GB will work in single channel.
GTX 660 is faster than the PS4's GPU, Would love to see a Video of you testing BF5 on the Radeon 7850 2GB. Can't believe that BF5 is also still active, and they added native support for ray tracing. Aside from that cool video, Kryzzp
I had the GTX 660 (still have it, but don't use) and in many modern games, from late PS4 era, i didn't run even close to how PS4 runs. The optimization makes a lot of difference, and the Kepler architecture was already very dated. I would say that BF5 was one of the few modern games it could run decently, I used to play it first with my i5 3470, heavily CPU bottlenecked, then with Ryzen 5 3600 later.
I thank you very much for this video, I have an i7 4790K @4.4Ghz, 4x8 32Gb G.Skill @1600Mhz and a 4gb RX 470D. At minute 2:33 I never thought that it would give me so many FPS with that option activated, I never took that option into account, since by default it was always deactivated. I play with the graphics on HIGH and it always gave me about 40 50 FPS and the use of the GPU was around 80%. Now with that future frame rendering option it manages to give me an excellent 90 100 FPS, with the use of the GPU almost always at maximum and the CPU usage is almost always at 90% or 80%... I would love to see more BF5 benchmarks. One of the best optimized titles in performance / visual ratio in my opinion. Maybe a "Kryzzp recommended specs for BF5" video with like the AMD R5-1600 GTX1060 + RX580 again +16GB RAM dual channel and another system for max settings like a R5-3600 + GTX1080 + RX 5700 XT and maybe a RTX3060. Of course skip DX12 and raytracing. DX12 mode is broken in BF5 and they sadly never fixed it. Thanks for this great video Kryzzp!

Im glad you mentioned the overhead of nvidia drivers. I recently bought a 6900xt upgraded from my 1070. I was curious so i installef the 1070 back in and opened warzone 3, and with a cpu bottleneck... Yes... My 1070 still gave less fps than my 6900xt. I made sure both gpus were tested where neither was the bottleneck. 1070 managed 135fps whilenthe 6900xt achieved around 150fps
First of all that is a great vid I think that specs minimum or recommend are for single player or story mode which has less actions and less people so i think it would be good for story than online love you from Egypt
Nice to see the Afterburner overlay working again. It used to be that you had more a buffer on CPU utilization on the 4th Gen i7's, but it's crept up over the years. I have some testing from back in 2020 and I just checked to video and it was under 70% with the 1060 6GB on the ultra preset. Just seems that the updates have just shifted this more towards a 6-core recommendation these days.

Bought this game a week ago in the summer sale. I am using a ryzen 5 3600 and gtx 1060 6gb. Even with fps locked to 60 using RTSS I get these microstutters every now and then that is showcased in this video. Maybe it is my slow ram who knows dual channel 16 gb at 2400 mhz. Leaves a stale feeling of an otherwise really good game.

16:25 no just a newer generation cpus with 4c/8t with will perform well paired with gtx 1060. The old i7 and r3 are holding it back by a lot. You don't actually need 6c to max the cpu out, just architecture is enough.
I tried this game with my 2080 ti on ultra DX 12 RTX. And this is unplayable cz stuttering in DX12. And it was a main point for advertising campaign when game was launch... So i playing in DX11 without Rtx :( But have a really good fps.
for onme, you can use the server browser to find the same map for each test (tho still will have varied results due to other stuff) and as for the recommended specs testing, you tried the new pacific maps which were the last maps to get added towards the end of the gaems life. and from my experience are demanding and maybe they did not update the recommended specs but idk, seems similar on the old map you also tested. but ye
in my personal thought i think the game runs so well on 2012 and 2013 componets is becuase it runs on the ps4 and xbox one which if you compare it to hardware today its compareble to 2011 components so they had to make do with the technology from years prior

🙂 people like to argue about 12GB of system ram, some say its not running in dual channel, some say only the first 8gb is dual channel, many laptops have that weird configuration of 8+4, i think to side on caution that you should either go 4+4 or 8+8 matching sticks to get dual channel. Unless you have a workstation motherboard with three channels then for sure 12GB would be best
If you lock your fps(even if you lock it to 60fps or your monitors refresh rate), you use less power, your temperatures will be lower and your frametime graph would be smoother. If you have a better cpu you can undervolt the voltage but keep the same boosted clock speed(that will reduce power consumption and temps while also keeping the same stable clock speed). You can do the same for your gpu, you can see what your max clock speed is on your gpu(default clocks) and just put a lower voltage on it while keeping the same default clock speed. Lower also power and temp for the gpu while still performing the same as default. Pair the undervolt with fps lock, you will use so little power, your temps will be lower and you can thank me later on your hardware lifespan and on your electricity bill. You can use this method for summer and in winter when it is colder you can go all out.

Bro i can't believe it i tried this game on msi GF63 thin, 9sc with i5-9300h Gtx1650maxq and 8gb ram i was getting around 50-55fps on low settings and even on 720p it was mostly same hardly hitting 60fps which is crazy😂 just bought 1660ti for it lol

If it's about older games, pre DLSS, I prefer AMD GPU. There is something different in picture quality. Having GTX 970 in my XP computer (overkill, I know) and RX 580 in my Win7 computer and there's definitely a difference.
Had HD 7770 originally in my XP machine. And while it's much slower, I still prefer its picture quality over GTX 970. But yeah, a real XP machine should run Crysis 60 FPS locked so here we are.
IIRC, my FX-8320 cpu overclocked very easily (with adequate cooling). Is the R3 1300x similar? Surely they would not spec minimums that requires OCing???? It's also possible the original BFV maps were not as CPU heavy.. and later updates made it more so.
recommended should be two matching ram sticks of 8+8 because 12GB is not really dual channel, and i dont think the 1300X is equivalent to an i7-4770 4/8 , i imagine to make it fair it would have to be first gen ryzen 5 6/12 or ryzen 7 8/16 and even then i think the ryzen first gen would be behind because of clock speeds but im not sure. Ideally update the bios of the motherboard and step up to second gen ryzen 5 or 7 which should be pretty cheap the cpus now 🙂 and dont forget to pickup a cheap used Wraith Prism ARGB Cooler
kryzzp have you tried out minecraft distant horizons 2.0 mod with shaders? it looks unreal im sure it wont disappoint you (probably run it on a 13700k or higher , 64gb ram would also let us see if it goes over 32gb usage. throw in any high end gpu u want . EDIT: 16gb vram)

It is not much faster than PS4 and also has huge driver overhead. Should have tested with RX 560 for minimum requirements.

kryzzp have you tried out minecraft distant horizons 2.0 mod with shaders? it looks unreal im sure it wont disappoint you
(probably run it on a 13700k or higher , 64gb ram would also let us see if it goes over 32gb usage. throw in any high end gpu u want . EDIT: 16gb vram)

The problem of nvidia gpus for all older cpus is the overhead driver issue. Definitely, if you play videogames you need radeon gpu.
