Definetly you need more ram (6gb 800mhz is all you need) , you can overclock the gpu fairly alot with msi afterburner and cpu i suggest the 6000+ with 2mb L2 and not the 1mb versio (i have expirienced the difference between cache sizes with many cpus). Also you might want to downgrade windows to 8.1 or 7 the windows10 likes to eat resources from the systems CPU and HDD (processes 120+ vs 34+). Ps try to cut some processes with msconfig you might get suprised by the difference

A follow up using 6 or 8 GB ddr2@800mhz running in dual channel mode (3gb is running interleaved mode, so 2GB is dual channel and when it needs more an additional 1GB is available in single channel and seeing as its Windows 10 it'll mostly be running the games in single channel 667mhz RAM, but also needing to use the harddrive for swap space) and an ssd.
Dual channel ddr2@800 and an ssd will make a world of difference so its be cool to see a video comparing the system as it is and with those tiny changes.

      Depends on your socket
      5x - definitely a core i7
      6x, 7x series chipset - 2700 or 3770
      8x - 4770 or 4790. 4690K or 4670K are ok options
      1xx - 6600K
      2xx - 7500K
      3xx - 8400F or 9400F
      4xx or 5xx - 10100F or 10400F

I looked into this a bit. The bard is a fujitsu AMD690VM-FM (as per the unboxing video at 5:24). The manual states it will take up to 32 GB, YUP, 32 GB or 4x8 GB of DDR2. I think getting 4 of those would be a distinctly long term process but as 2GB of DDR2 is reasonably available. A couple of those and swapping out a 1GB would give a nice 6 GB of DDR2 for not too much money. The board is also reported to be dual channel so that could be disabled due to the odd RAM set up.
I do think that an SSD would be at minimum a decent upgrade for this machine. The WD Blue 640 isn't a bad slow drive but it is what it is. W10 hates the spinners. Again price is variable but a used or very cheap SSD is within reason for this machine. Cost is paramount at its age and capability.
I would also like to see a W7 benchmark of this hardware. XP would certainly run much easier with all updates and patches.

    • @beezle1976
      @beezle1976 Год назад +1

Absolutely it will, especially with it running Windows 10.
Running interleaved memory (2x1GB in dual channel and 1GB in single channel when the initial 2GB runs out), ddr2@667 as well, and using a harddrive for swap space is a massive bottleneck.
Most software is running in single channel mode at 667mhz (with Windows itself having priority for the 2GB portion running in dual channel).... its holding the system back massively.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is clueless.
