Appreciate the sport... This is why I love doing revivals always different It keeps me on the toes. Much rather do this than a tune-up every day of my life repetition/complacency is the key to boredom and screw ups.
100% agree, this car is far from rolling off the assembly line in 1979 original. So wasn't a complete loss I'm just happy it will be enjoyed in it's new form rather than sitting left for dead
As I watched the test drive, I was just wondering if you ever were out on the road and had a breakdown that left you on foot? Just then the throttle cable came loose. Kinda scary to think that just as it happened. With our 4 vw's we have, and use fairly often, AAA. With a 200 mile limit, we can feel safe that we will get towed, even though we have to wait sometimes. I learned from this video about the different pin lengths on the super. Also, several years ago on the 73 Super, I had to correct the SB shimmy. It also required new struts to correct that bounce. Enjoyed the video.
Definitely have broken down many times on revival test drives but before RUclips I think the only other one I have as far as a mechanical failure is the blue split window bus lost brakes on that one... This is the main reason I do my test drives is because like I state I rather break down on me or blow up with me behind the wheel then the customer just taking it from the shop... Doesn't look good on my end in my opinion if a customer is only to make it 8 miles and it's coming back on a rollback... And as for the shimmy it's definitely getting both springs and shocks / struts up front.
WhoooHooo finally on the road. This was a marathon of a job. Glad it's back on the road.

Found your channel just perusing around the Tubes. Love the content so far
Thank you... Very much appreciated
Sometimes you have to sacrifice function over originality.

This would have had a rack in pinion?? My 75 had it that’s long gone. But got the 73 I keep getting back together
Yes 74+ should have a rack 73 was the last year for the worm and ball steering box
