I'd be happy to contact you, but wonder about my situation. I have hyperacusis (no tinnitus) that seems associated with anxiety/depression/PTSD. I'm working with a therapist on CBT to reframe attitudes but wondering if my situation would be relevant, given that I am pretty sure the condition is related to hyper-vigilance (long history of catastrophizing) as opposed to a "structural" problem. a sort of mind-body thing (which Joel kinda alluded to too...not so much "mental" but about how my brain reacts to sound and perhaps some learned pathways to feel startled). I live in Vietnam and where I am a trained audiologist is unlikely. Anyway, I'm particularly keen to try sound therapy and using the ear devices, but here too may have to do some scrounging to source the hardware. Thank you

I'm genuinely happy for Joel, but Treble Health's tinnitus maskers programme didn't work for me. I was consistent in wearing my maskers for over 1 year (as they said to do), tried to protect my ears, but at the end of the year I wasn't anywhere close to being back to my normal self.
During the year, I had moments of feeling a little better, but sounds are everywhere and life is unpredictable. So, things inevitably happened (loud sounds). Are you actually getting better if one event sets you back to the beginning?
If you're suffering from hyperacusis/tinnitus or any other auditory issue, I know the desperation you feel. I am grateful for the hope that I initially experienced from Treble Health. But it certainly is not a one size fits all. I still wear my maskers, but I'm still struggling everyday. Honestly, now I wear it to keep me calm and block out the tinnitus. Ensure that you do as thorough an investigation into your specific situation with your hearing as possible.
I pray that one day a cure is found for this horrible condition. It has completely changed my life and the lives of others.

@@PremaGaia I just used the aftershokz headphones which were connected by Bluetooth to my phone. The app I used is called myNoise. I like that I could customize the noise to exactly what I wanted. There were two advantages of the headphones:
      1. I can hear people around me, so I wasn’t isolated from “the world”. As a teacher, that would not have worked for me.
      2. I found that headphones that covered my ears, or were in my ears, isolated the tinnitus and “made it worse”.

The tinnitus that developed along with the hyperacusis was amplified when my ears were covered. The other obvious advantage is that you can hear the world around you, so you don't feel so isolated. Aftershokz now makes bc headphones that you can wear separately on each ear, which look like they are even more convenient.
