    WARNING - It is not Backwards Compatible!
    I got the pen today and it won't work. I talked to Wacom Tech and they said it will only ever work with the new 27 inch and the new tablets coming out. Its a hardware issue Tech said. I have to return the pen now.
    I have a 24 cintq. The tilt is the only reason I wanted the pen.
    What I did notice about the pen and the tilting is that the nib is longer and it allows tilting of the pen similar to the Apple pen. So side of pencil use looks possible, but it comes with a huge price tag because that means buying a new tablet. The buttons were also much harder to press and spaced awkwardly. Whoever designs these pens clearly doesn't use it daily.

      I went from a cintiq 21ux to a cintiq 24 pro. I like stylus on the older cintiq because if the longer nib and hated pro pen 2 short nib. Too bad pro pen 3 doesn’t work cuz u said the nib is longer….

    No eraser end like the pro pen 2?

  • @vbun4662
    @vbun4662 Год назад +13

    With an extra button you can just set the eraser to a shortcut and it would be faster than needing to flip the pen around. The pressure sensitivity on the old erasers never really felt all that special anyway so I don't really see that as much of a loss.

      Many years ago there was a Windows intous3\penabled driver "bug" that allowed a function similar to what you want. Here were the steps:
      1- using the wacom driver control panel app set a side button press for "spacebar".
      2- Go to your graphic app Photoshop\manga studio\paint tool Sai etc, and with a new document open, bring the pen close enough to activate detection and press the side button to see the "hand" PAN icon. DO NOT release the side button.
      3- with the side button still NOT released, and without lifting the pen so as to maintain continuous pen detection go to the eraser icon in the tools palette and select the eraser tool. Now you release the side button
      4-The end result is a wonderful "flick to switch" tool feature using the side button. Draw a line on the canvas as normally you would. If you want to "Pan" then press the side button and Pan appears and is available. If you want to ERASE then hover the pen so as to be activated and the PAN icon is visible. DO NOT release the side button while lifting the pen just far enough to lose detection. When you having NOT release the side button bring the pen back into detection instead of seeing the PAN icon you instead get the ERASER!
      This trick\bug allows you to alternate between PAN and ERASER just by pressing the side button\slight lifting the pen away from the screen with a "flick" and bringing the pen back into detection. Sadly for me I used this for a LONG time without writing down which Intous3 driver version I was using and now can no longer make this feature active. And I have REALLY really tried to make it work again. Though I didn't make the same mistake with my penabled portable devices and they still have the "flick to switch" feature in Windows 7,8.1 and even 10.

      I absolutely hate using the buttons on the stylus. More often than not they're accidentally pushed and intentionally pushing them is super awkward. The non eraser is honestly such a bad design choice.

    • @useresu301
      @useresu301 Год назад

      No and I hope all future pens from Wacom will get rid of it. turning your pen upside down is stupid when you can use a hotkey to activate the eraser in the program you're using. Also, that eraser added production cost and rattling noise.

  • @benjsart
    @benjsart Год назад +5

    Where is my eraser? I love the concept of customisation but the eraser was what made the Pro Pen 2 so special to me. I also have the Pro Pen 3D because i love the all aluminum design and weight of it, but i never got warm with it because i really was missing the Eraser on the Back. For me it is quite a bummer to see that there is no eraser on the new pen. i hope there is something in the pipeline for those who prefer to have 2 buttons and an eraser instead.

    • @useresu301
      @useresu301 Год назад +1

      only amateurs turn their pen upside down instead of using a hotkey to activate the eraser. and it added unnecessary rattling as well

    I sure don't like the button feel. I hope they come out with new button inserts with at least taller buttons. (and yes I'm using the taller insert, it's the buttons themselves that are so low that they are not very ergonomic IMO) I'm using the Pen 3 Nibs in my pro pen 2 and pro slim pen because I hate the buttons on the pro pen 3.
