Wait, what... no shout out to the MAN that makes 98% of the decisions, fixes everything that needs to be fixed.
Picking up small chickens and putting small chickens down, can hardly been seen as "an amazing job” The typical female comment is alway to embellish a menial task (not requiring skill) done by another female, while being sure NOT to recognize the real person (the MAN) that makes the farm run!
The only thing she handles better is Pete's dad jokes🤣😂

Hanging gates by yourself is one of the most frustrating thing to do on a farm iykyk
I am retired. My dog wakes me up every morning at 5am. I get my coffee and then I watch Pete and Hillary move their chickens and cows. Great way to start the day! Thanks to both of you!

I’m retired too, but no longer have a dog to wake me up early. I do have a very active bladder….! LOL

Brings back memories of me and my dad building gates in the seventies . I was in school then a welding major and my job with him was a the metal work . My welding has greatly improved since. We used 12 inch hydro pole bolts that we bent and mounted . Thanks for giving me the flash back of my dad .😢 ❤miss you dad .

Years ago my Dad and I put cables onto some overly heavy gates I made. Very happy with them but they were a pain to set up. We had to set the eyebolt above with a plumbob to be directly above the hinges or else the cable would go slack or lift the gate when opened. Having round tapered poles made it all the harder. The last several we did the eyebolt first and set both hinges to it and it worked great. I still use them 30 years later.
Hey to Hillary! my wife and I are long time viewers but never comment because we usually are watching on TV. I'm John and my wife of 40yrs is Sharon .both retired . well I always wanted to say Pete is great! but I wait for the few moments when you appear and say something or not! I think that the use of cables, rather than jacks, on the gates is a great idea. The cables will be less hassle too.
That freezer a the butcher shop was very nicely organized. Also good to see a young guy working at a butcher shop these days. Ones around here have a heck of a time finding help.

I like it when a man can admit when he was wrong. It is a model for so many when you can be honest about your failure at long-term weather prediction. I had forgotten of your concern over drought. Not many of us would have noticed and you did not need to bring it up, but doing so shows you are aa pretty secure guy.

How lucky that you and your dad are both so handy. We have a comparable sized farm ( but newbies to owning one) and it has certainly been a learning curve.

Great videos. I know it’s hard work but it a very peaceful lifestyle you all lead. Quiet, nature, farm animals, fabricating, tractors, having your wife close by, self sustaining are the things that come to mind. No horses, pigs, goats? Haha. Love your videos.

Hey Pete, here is a tip for you. At the 3:50 mark, where you were installing the hinges, if you cut the bottom hinge just an inch or so shorter than the top hinge it will be easier to line up and attach the gates. Start the top hinge first and then you have some wiggle room as you lower the gate onto the bottom hinge. Clear as mud?

Love the new gates, I'm surprised you don't incorporate a zerk fitting on each hinge, or at least pack some grease in just before hanging. The place is looking amazing, so many happy critters. Life is good on your farm.

Farmer engineering can have it's frustrations, at least we didn't see any hammers or wrenches flying through the air (not to give you any ideas) but a drone shot of a wrench flying through the air would have been great fun.

Good video on gate making and the idea of turnbuckles for keeping the gates upright and straight had not seen that done in a while but putting a swivel pulley at the top does fix that lean on the gates. Glad to see your subscribers push up to 400k.
