I can sit and watch people work for hours too. It is better watching people work that know what they are doing in the first place. There just is no joy in watching two or more monkeys having adult relations with a football (at least for more than the minute it takes to figure out what they are doing). 😉👍

Hey Pete! Ken here. I don’t think people give cows the credit they deserve. They’re very smart and they do have a certain order to their lives. There’s lots of people in this world that are much like cows. With cows, they could be standing in the most lush grasses ever but they still think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Some people could have the best of everything yet still think they need more. Hope the Smokey air goes away for you guys. Thanks to Mother Nature our forest fires here in Nova Scotia are out. Sad that so many folks lost everything. Have a great day.

Pete, You Sir, are freaking awesome. Keep doing what you do, people need to understand farms animals are treated well and cared for but they are not pets. This is where your food comes from.
I really like the fact that Hillary seems so much more comfortable in front of the camera. It allows the interaction between you and Hillary; it not only shows the working partnership but also the fun of working with each other. Bravo!

Everyone I know here in Ohio says the wild fire smoke from Canada, smells like burnt plastic. A very indistinguishable smell. Hopefully rain will put them out. Thanks for the video Pete and Hilary, Loved the finish and musical accompaniment.

One of my favorite channels for sure. At age 71 now, glad to see a dedicated famer who takes care of his animals. BTW, hope the tractor muffler is secure. Mechanics is what makes your signature topics. Another is market day.
A great sign of how things go in a relationship is how you reflect and respond to each other with all the impromptu moments that can't be hidden. Just you guys riding on the same tractor exchanging looks says it all. After a couple kids you guys still bring smiles to each other's faces quickly. And that is something that rubs off on everybody around you for every waking moment that they are with you. I look forward to the next time I see you again KIDS!😉

Love the musical cow action. Not sure why you think this video was much different. I certainly enjoyed the reflection of your teamwork and the value Hillary brings to the farm.
I grew up on a small farm and I know how hard the work was. I was a skinny kid and wasn't very strong until my teenage years. I still remember the year we had 4 calves born shortly before the snow started coming. My father had a pen that was about 75 feet from the barn and those calves were put in that pen to keep them from nursing their mothers to death. My job was to feed those calves and put them in the barn with their mothers twice a day. I carried those calves both ways twice daily and as they got bigger, I got stronger. By Spring, they were over 300 lbs each and this skinny teenager was a lot stronger than I looked. I miss those days and I wish I had half the strength I had back then.
It really is satisfying listening to the cattle munch on grass ,and knowing you have done a good job with them and the calves!

You are very correct in taking the time to do an aerial view of things. Probably just about all of us are so busy that years of our lives go by focusing on the day-to-day stuff. Far too often, we simply don't ask ourselves if we like where we have been and also ask ourselves where we might like to go. Wise words, indeed.

Your farm is just gorgeous, Pete, nestled in the hills above the lake-and the cattle are obviously so content-as are you guys! You make such a good team, Hilarie and you. I always appreciate you taking some time to reflect. You're absolutely right-we live in a world in which, largely courtesy of the media, everything is a crisis. I've always thought that life on a farm, by its very nature, requires what you describe with HIlarie-immediacy and perspective. Thank you for your work, Pete. You help keep me rooted.

Pete your book can be read over and over. Each time I read it there seems to be something else that sparks a memory or thought or emotion that is hard to explain. Without dreamers we'd be lost. Things move at the pace you allow. I prefer to keep my own pace and enjoy stopping to sometimes enjoy the scenery and appreciate the moment from time to time. Have a great week.
Your comment about this video being a little different was spot-on. Sometimes you do that, you mix it up, and that's what makes it really interesting for me. Variety is the spice of life and I enjoyed this VERY much.

Pete I love watching and also hearing the cattle chomp down that grass. Actually would love a long say hour video of nothing but the sound and video of the cows chomping down that luscious grass !!.. I bet a bunch of people would enjoy that as well.

Another great one, Pete. Your aerial video was a wonderful use of the William Tell. I am so sorry that all of the northern folks are having to deal with the smoke from the Canadian forest fires. Reminds me of the similar situation we had in the southwest about twenty years ago with the fires in Mexico. It makes you appreciate clean air all the more.

Pete, I have to say that even before you hit the philosophizing moment, I was thinking what a wonderful thing it is to see you and Hillary working as a single unit. And, you were spot on about the day to day vs the long-term complimenting each other. My wife and I are the same way. She has an ability to make sure everyone has everything they need as they walk out he door for the day. And that ability completely escapes me. But, I tend to focus on long term planning - savings, insurance, medium to long-term supplies, emergency plans. And we MUST work in compliment for our family to succeed. If the scale tips one way or the other, we just don't work.
By the way, some of he greatest philosophers are farmers. You don't need years of formal education to be one. You just need to live and observe life.

There's definitely a lack of appreciation for differences in society lately. It does take many kinds to make a happy world yet, there's this movement afoot to make everybody the same as some imaginary norm.

As always, you and Hillary don't disappoint. You work together greatly because you are extremely equally yoked. You have similar reasoning and the knack for wanting to get the job done. Not all or even some are equally yoked. A woman who thinks she shouldn't do manual anything or get her hands dirty never ever gets my attention. My ideal 1st date was and is for her to show up in work clothes and pitch in where she felt comfortable. Then progress from there. If the words out her mouth was no, I can't do that. I moved on. Coming out of high school, I could cook any meal. Dawn a tux, style almost any woman's hair. Clean a house, and preform every task on the farm. Even though I was raised in the city. Every summer was spent on the farm. Along with spring breaks. To me, that was fun. Like you, my career was office related, but my heart was always farming. After 32 years of office work, I brought a plantation and turned it into my dream.
Sorry for sending you all our smoke! The wildfires have been put out in my area about 2 weeks ago! Cant believe your still getting smoke in your neck of the woods Pete!

Hi Pete and Hillary.. Many years ago my wife and I stopped going to Sunday morning church. We have found that we can be "good" people in the Christain manner, by living a lifestyle that reflects the teachings of the "church, and our upbringing. I do however, love it when on many Sundays you ( Pete) philosophy about life and human values. You are my occasional Sunday morning preacher., and I thank you for your input. I am 81 during this year and although I have good-excellent health, I know that I am approaching the final years of my life. I have tried to live them in a "good" and productive manner and have attempted to teach my children to live according to a valued system of morals and work ethic. It is good however to get some input form others, and I value your input. Jim Robinson

I agree with you Pete, when I was working I was very task oriented, but I could still see the bigger picture or view ! I worked for a very large corporation. Just a laborer , after 19 yrs and in a boom time they ask me to become a supervisor to help train the new employees and I did ! But after they were trained the company no longer needed me ! I wish I had taken your path in life and went to farming a small farm ! THANK YOU Pete and Hillary for your videos ! GOD BLESS !!!
I love the philosophy. When Hil was on the back of the tractor and turned and smiled at you, that was golden. Love, commitment, dedication. and what makes your life go 'round. Here in Oklahoma, our personal beef is raised on Big Bluestem, Little Bluestem, Switchgrass, and Indiangrass. The fat, what there is, is yellow like a lemon. Delicious. Blessings to you and yours.
Hello Pete, and Hillary. My wife and I are currently on the journey to our new farm in northern Minnesota. I quit my office job after 16 years due to (as you’ve challenged us) examining the long view, and asking those same questions over the last 3 years. It is a big leap of faith, but watching your videos has really inspired us. We love your channel, and are planning on a similar business model. Thank you for the information, inspiration, philosophy, and great entertainment!
