In the US. I have a Metco metal sprayer that's probably a 50 year old design. It uses oxy/act to melt the wire and a single wire feed. The arc sprayer you have is the best design, I've seen. Wish I had one. I had 2 ex-navy tugs that had zinc coating applied 20 years before. They had no rust except where lines continually rubbed. I bought the Metco to maintain the coating. Later I had a small shipyard that mainly built and repaired larger commercial fishing boats. After sand blasting, I used a zinc coating inside and out, except for diesel tanks. That was many years ago, but those boats are the most rust free in the fleet. I'm retired, but still do some touch up jobs. Out of my usual line of work, I repaired 17 cylinders of a large printing press that someone had run a wrench all the way thru. I found I could lay as little as .0005" and repaired the cylinders without disassembly and machining. Metal spray is a great tool. I watch your channel because you do excellent work. When faced with an unexpected problem, you always do a proper job. No quick fixes. I'm amazed how much money and time is saved by remanufacturing cylinders rather that buying from the OEM. I bet your customers are amazed, too. You have a nice shop.
I had my car back axle zinc sprayed by a company that does our local fishing fleet. It will outlast the car and probably future car(s) it gets used on.

For better adhesion, you might want to thread the surface and shot blast the surface. And when you machine it on lathe after coating, it's better to start from middle to sides. By this way you can prevent from side cracks on the coating. You can coat stainless steel, copper, brass, zinc, aluminum etc. By optimizing current and wire feed you can have less porosity or rough surface. And also by using cored wire (like metco 8222) you can obtain pretty hard surfaces.

Hello CEE team, greetings from Belgium. Starting a Friday with a new machine is always a nice start of the weekend 😀, Being selected for testing & demoing a brand new machine in AU by Metal Spray Supplies Australia is a great recognition of CEE. Would be nice to know if after a in-depth technical & capability evaluation and overall TOC calculation if CEE would keep the machine or not, even when you are looking into a new arc spray solution.
Man you guys, this channel! I am just an old lady hobbiest and this gives me all the meat my tiny shop will never char. Love this so much, and you both do a fantastic job.
Karen, Kurtis, have I told you how much I love your channel? It’s literally the night point of my day! Thank you so very much!!! And River Song recognizes Kurtis’ voice and sits watching until Homie turns up!
My Wife used this instead of her hair dryer on accident, and she is now part of the 'X-Men' Just look for the woman with the metal head and that is my wife. You would think we would save a lot of money on hair care products, but now we just use a lot of WD-40 and metal polish. Cleaning her ears is more like caring for a rifle. She wanted her eyebrows done but we can't find and auto body that will take a grinder to her face. The kids love her all the same, and they love to put fridge magnets on her head. Last week she started to get cross-eyed and we had to degauss her from the neck up. The kids also leave lots of fingerprints on her, but we just polish or buff them out.
You are definitely CUTTING EDGE ENGINEERING and it shows! Being the first means they wanted the best to run it first. Once again The Master Craftsman strikes again. Awesome work Kurtis! Also having the most beautiful camera woman is the icing on the cake! Love you guys!!! Love you Karen ❤😊
Very nice machine for the shop. I have used the Thermion " BoilerMaster" and the "BridgeMaster" Arc Spray machines for Zinc applications on Cathodic protection restoration projects for Coastal Bridges in Oregon, USA. Thermion has a compact drive that is portable and operates on Welding leads to the work area. The Transformer is remote, and the drive unit is as small as a portable welder.
I love when Kurtis gets a new toy... he's like a kid in a candy store. Thanks a bunch to Karen for sharing with us. And, of course, thanks to Homey who is the coolest dog on the planet. This is the best channel on youtube.
Another highly educational vid I must say. The advancements being achieved these days is nothing short of extraordinary. Oh & let’s net forget, all the new toys you get to demo for us. 👍
We have a Metallisation machine in our workplace, very similar to this one just with a robot arm and aluminium wire for anti corrosion instead. Very good machine😄
Never knew of twin wire metal spraying, excellent process. Great demonstration and explanation both, hope Karen is happy with something new to video 📹 😊. Great addition to the shop.
I worked in a machine shop for years and we used the old Metco sprayer. It used a oxygen and acetylene flame to melt the wire. We used 3/16 and 1/4 inch dia. Wire to build up roller to use to help pull cloth thru some of the machine in the cotton textile industry. Had to sand blast them to start with. The build up would last for about 6-8 months
If you got a bundle of cables, hoses, or anything of that nature, cable ties are not the best way to keep them organized. Instead, use a length of hydraulic hose spiral wrap. It will keep the bundle tight together, as well as being stiff enough to help prevent sharp bends while moving the bundle around.
I used to work as a welder repair technician and what we found to work best was to run stuff like that in 2 inch blue layflat. Spiral wrap is great stuff, but anything more than a metre it's going in the bin. Who's got the time for that?
@@orangemonkeykiller Layflat? Are you talking about basically a small firefighter hose? Yeah, I can see the advantage, and those particular hoses are rather robust.
The power cables and air hose are run inside a robust supplies pack cover (like layflat). The cable tied items are the wire feed conduits and flexible drive cable that synchronises the feeder and the pistol drive unit. These items do wear over time and the conduits benefit from an occasional clean so most customers prefer to have them strapped / tied outside of the main supplies pack. We’ve tried many alternatives over the years but customers tend to always revert to cable ties… and the customer is always right 😊
Super. Every boys dream - an impressive working tool that just happens to look like something from a Starwars film. Now you just have to get the Storm Trooper armour and helmet as protection against splashes and fumes.
OMG!!!! It looks like a weapon from Star Wars. What an awesomely versitle machine. Is there overspray? Homie always seems so happy. When I die I want to come back as a dog and live with you guys.

This is some pricey equipment and I guess Abom won't do so much spray welding that it's worth it for him. Kurtis on the other hand probably uses it more than once a week.
@@schorse1000 Abum doesn't pay for stuff.
Bit disappointed that Kurtis didn't unwrap it like the dishlicker does.
Give his new choppers a workout with lots of head shakes and growling.
New toys are always nice.

@@RUclipsr-k2p Really?
Fixed.
Hey Karen, nice job capturing all the chaos of the techs and hubby. And of course, nice work as usual, Kurtis. You perfectionist ... you. I could watch you work all day.
One of the few unboxing/testing demos I've watched. I normally won't because they're something i already have/don't need or it's common technology. This being revoltionary made all the difference.
For the size jobs you do this machine will add greatly to your reputation and thank you Karen for your excellent camera work & laugh.
Proud Brit here. Good morning World!
Exactly and I thought we had become a country of telemarketers. So proud to see British engineering isn’t completely dead. ❤
@@EmiSuperTrans71 I know what you mean, but British innovation will never die IMO. Look at medicine for instance, seems there's a new discovery almost every week in Britain. I think Rolls Royce is still a leader in turbines too.
Glad your happy with a bit of British engineering, from a proud Brit ! I hope it's Homey approved
And another one 🇬🇧
Good evening from an ex pat
There aren't enough superlatives to describe your work. Congratulations. You earned this priviledge. Blessings.
I love the timing of the shots, you always manage to capture everything that is happening in such an interesting way and just when I've seen enough and want to move on you've already beaten me to it. It's truly an art editing a video to keep people engaged and I just want you to know that you do it very well 🙂
Keep up the good work
That is an awesome machine. Congratulations on being the first person to use it. That speaks volumes about your skills.
I personally never knew such a machine existed! This is just awesome watching this thing work and how its controlled. Who would have ever believed you could just blast some steel with some Sparks to get new metal to stick?! This is just amazing.. thank you cutting edge engineering for showing me such an awesome tool!
Looked like a Ghostbusters gun very cool!😎 looking forward to seeing it put to use on a project. Have a great weekend.
That time already perfect to kick off the weekend.
That is a cool machine. Amazing tech. Karen has become so skilled at doing these videos. Great work.
Thank you very much!
Thanks Kurtis and Karen. I just learned about another really interesting technology I didn't know existed.
Now I'm going down a rabbit hole learning about its wide range of applications. Very interesting, made my week.
Thanks, again.
Dear Curtis,As usual, your demo and then your knowledge and experience of metals and finishes etc just shows the professional approach you have to the situation at hand. Well done,
Morning all !! Sat here in the garden, sun just about over the roof next door, Tea and a bacon and egg sandwich in hand. Maybe a doughnut for later....and a CCE vid, life is good!
In Australia on the East Coast, it is cold with a forecast for strong winds and blizzards on the high country.
@@anthonyj7989 See....When you say Australia to 99% of ppl....Blizzards are not the first thing that comes to mind. Kinda like the UK and sunshine. Wrap up warm mate and add some brandy to the tea !!
Good to see the endangered species (Holden Rodeo) hard at work
Nice transition, Keran!😊😊😊
I am totally amazed that no Hollywood producer or director has come and asked you to help produce and edit movies!😉😉😉

How amazing is that! You get to be one of the first to literally test cutting edge technology, definitely living up to name, super cool stuff!
This machine looks incredible. As soon as he turned it on, I was like WHOAAA!!! This machine is going to be a real time saver so you dont have to build up a weld, wire brush it down, build up a weld, wire brush, weld, wire, and now all you do is pull out the liquid hot metal spraygun, and then clean it up. You should definitely put your initials on the wall with that thing haha
Metallisation are in Peartree Lane, Dudley, an industrial area I'm familiar with. I used to go to a supplier there to collect electrical spares for control systems on water treatment works!
Loads of memories of my trips to, and through, that area.
First time I've ever seen another guy in Kurtis's workshop (apart from the Safety Officer, of course).
Dude, I was thinking of the same❤😂 . They should be honored.😊
Was wondering if they had gone on a hiring spree when I first saw the matching shirts 😮😅😂
And wearing the same uniforms!
I had all the same thoughts. Also now I know what the color orange Curtis's shirt is supposed to be
Yea but look who’s shirt is doing the work.
That machine is bad ass ! Mounting the gun on a Shaper and using a rotating head for the piece would be an awesome way to automate
My Wife used this instead of her hair dryer on accident, and she is now part of the 'X-Men'
Just look for the woman with the metal head and that is my wife.
Oh boy! A new machine! I'm soooo excited! This looks like it's going to be so much fun!🥰🥰🥰
Very late but here guys. Really looking forward to this and every episode. Hope all is great, Cheers!
I love when Kurtis gets a new toy... he's like a kid in a candy store. Thanks a bunch to Karen for sharing with us. And, of course, thanks to Homey who is the coolest dog on the planet. This is the best channel on youtube.
This is going to be a valuable tool for a lot of your repairs.
Yea its new machine day!! I love the new machine videos. Such a cool new tool and super cool you got a chance to really put it through it's paces
Lol i'm imagining Kurtis running around the workshop yelling "Somebody gave me FIRE!!!!!!!!"
While ACDC US playing in the background 😂😂
Never knew of twin wire metal spraying, excellent process.
Great demonstration and explanation both, hope Karen is happy with something new to video 📹 😊.
Great addition to the shop.
I worked in a machine shop for years and we used the old Metco sprayer. It used a oxygen and acetylene flame to melt the wire. We used 3/16 and 1/4 inch dia. Wire to build up roller to use to help pull cloth thru some of the machine in the cotton textile industry. Had to sand blast them to start with. The build up would last for about 6-8 months
That delivery "truck" is the cutest thing I've ever seen. I want one!
They haven't made Holden Rodeo utes for a while now.
We’ve tried many alternatives over the years but customers tend to always revert to cable ties… and the customer is always right 😊
@@MetallisationLtd Ok, makes sense if it's a wear part.
I've seen flame-spray before but this is intense!! Dude. You could fight off aliens with that thing! Buy TWO.
I wonder what it looks like at night.
Omg, I love the new Ghostbusters Gun 🔫.
Thanks CEE for another amazing video 📹.

Wow this technology is amazing. Well done.
Kurtis didn’t even put a dent in the tailgate of the pickup when he took it out of the truck! What a guy!
Its a UTE..😂😂😂
Happy Friday from the UK 👋🇬🇧

I am amazed at the spindle speeds when running this and how nice the finish is. You have always added quality equipment for the shop and this is no different. Bang for your $buck all the way my friends. All the way !
That's a pretty cool-looking ray-gun you got there!
I foresee a steep, fast learning curve.
I do hope it is fun to do. thanks for a great video!
