The various status effect gourds were honestly one of Sekiro’s neatest new mechanics, it’s a very nice solution to the tendency a lot of players have to hoard the consumable curing items, while also not completely overshadowing those items.
@@darthvaderbutwayshittier7054 I use consumables in Bloodborne and then never have them when I actually need them because they have to be restocked manually.
The boluses of elden ring should work the same way, only healing the buildup is not enough, giving a small temporary extra resistence after consuming them would make them more worth using

Fun fact: the Interior Ministry troops that you can find dead on the field at the gate where you fight Oniwa Gyoubu bear the crest of the Toyotomi clan, who during the Sengoku era were unifying Japan under Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who was continuing the work of a recently killed Oda Nobunaga. Oda Nobunaga is famous for, among many other things, burning down the temples of both Enryaku-ji and Ishiyama Honganji, killing possibly anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 people in each incident. Hideyoshi - then Hashiba Hideyoshi before he changed his name - was with Nobunaga during those campaigns and was likely present during the burnings. I'm gonna guess the "Bug with the umbrella steaming" is related to the Projected Force ability. You always get that effect to let you know Projected Force is charged!
These descriptions remind me a lot of the Bowsers Inside Story remake. The game where "a small amount" (30%) is more than "a good amount" (20%) but also worse than "a small amount" (10%)
I don't understand why developers would hide numbers from players. Testing everything on your own is just tedious, especially in cases like Terror mechanic, that will strictly kill you, if you take status bar to fullest. I would gladly know how much my items slow damn bar before I try it...
I have a question that might be intresting to look into! It's about the spin of the umbrella. There seems to be some wiggle room while deflecting flurry attacks where you deflect one move and the rest don't technically get delfected but don't get blocked either. "Sekiro - Inner Genichiro No HUD Cinematic Flawless" from ONGBAL demostrates this. You can't see it since it's HUDless but in other videos with HUD you can see that the flurry dosen't break posture or causes chip damage while charmless and yet it's from a single deflect. I think something similar happens with isshin's pistol flurry.
technically poison has the "contact medicine" item, it doesn't cure poison (it actually poisons you) but its suppose to act as a counter to the poison status effect.
@@edwardking9359 For poisons that work by binding to your bodies cells, if a much more prevalent amount of a weaker toxin has already been strongly bound to your cells, than a stronger toxin would have to be administered in an even greater dosage and over an even longer period than would even be feasible in combat.

The buffs also reduce the amount of Burn build-up applied by a percent. Dousing Powder is 35%, Red Gourd is 40%, and Ministry Dousing Powder is 45% Also for anyone curious the Burn damage over time isn't fire damage, the effect is just taking away HP. The damage is 4 flat hp plus 0.5% hp every second over 9.9 seconds and Sekiro's HP starts at 320 and ends at 1120 increasing by 80 for each Prayer Necklace.
The Umbrella steam glitch isn't a glitch but a mechanic where if the umbrella blocks a certain amout of projectiles it can then shoot a projectile itself somehow.
The reason Burn has more ways to counter it than Poison or Terror is probably because fire is much more of a threat in the late game. The Ministry uses a lot of fire, and you also meet the Demon of Hatred.
