I've done both before. I personally prefer Sierra Road over Mount Hamilton. When we did Page Mill one of the guys in the group crashed and got a concussion.
As a California resident myself, I am thrilled you were able to visit! If you find yourself in the LA area, you should say hi. I can show you some awesome places to ride :)
"Too good not to share"....hey David, how about sharing your strava route for this one. Do you have a public Strava profile? I looked and found nothing for "just ride bikes" and too many "David Arthur's". Also in your "Follow me" in the video details, I don't see a strava link.
Central CA coast is really beautiful this time of year, and great roads. If you want to hit some hard climbs, come accross the hills to Central CA, Fresno/Clovis area and do the Climb to Kaiser. 55 miles with over 15,000+ feet of climbing.
Just don’t come between may-September if you’re not well acclimated to heat☀️🍳. Blessed to live in such a beautiful state, but even though I’m also in central California the distance from these rides from my front door is roughly the distance to Manchester to Newcastle.
Thoes were good paved for CA back areas. Normally thoes roads are wishing I was on dirt as it would smother most places. Give it 1.5 to 2 months most of CA will be in heatwaves till the fall when it cools off most anything long term outside and the hills are tinderboxes.
Awesome ride; I love that place too; cannot wait to see the review of this great Canadian brand! David, if interested in chatting with a doc about cycling cardiovascular health, please get in touch; recently GCN had something on this and they sort of missed the mark in parts - important for your viewers > 45 years of age I would say (as a MD)
If you want a great cycling (only) vacation check out Amish country in Pennsylvania. Beautiful small undulating roads with virtually no car traffic. Cheap hotel iirc was Dutch Treat; take a left out of parking lot and ride for hours and hours.
Great video! where in California ? You should try highway 1, also called Cabrillo Highway, from Carmel to Big Sur, as well as from Morro Bay to Ragged Point. Just amazing
You ready to come on and move to Cali David?? I’ll give you all the best spots to eat… 😂😂😂🙌🏽… btw, come South and do Latigo… Malibu Canyon… Tuna Canyon.. there’s a great video of Tom Pidcock going down Tuna… or GMR which will take you to Big Bear… Cali has your cycling needs all in one place!! 😂🍻
Where are the MTB riders with their homophobic anti road and gravel rider comments? Yeah crickets after that single track footage with a MTBer clearly working harder than Dave and going way slower
California has some truly great road descents. My favorites are Mount Hamilton Road and Page Mill in Palo Alto.

Agreed! Both are great descents. Almost anything on the way to the coast around the bay area is good. Its hard to go wrong.
@@lain11644 Sierra feels like a roller coaster. You can pick up speed so quickly.
@@dirtrambler It's definitely scary the first few times I did it! But the view is amazing.
I too have crashed on page mill!
Would it be possible to share the ride info? Possibly links to Strava?

Unfortunately, the roads around me also go up.

David, you are living the dream. 👏
That first decent reminded me of some roads I trained on in the Cotswolds..👍👌
Absolutely stunning! I live down in Southern California and definitely need to make some trips up that way!! 🙏
Right!! I’m looking at his video and was thinking the same thing!! 😂🍻

@@xcity2cityx Yeah, it gets hot here in the Summer. We almost hit 100 this past October as well.
Could you share what road this is starting at 5:31? I don't live too far from the sea otter classic but idk what road that is. Thanks!
Glad you made it to this side of the pond, David! Hope you might make it up to the Bay Area. We’ve got lots of great rides, too!

This looked way more enjoyable than Budda's hand. It's what it's all about happy rolling
Not long stumbled across this channel. Fantastic stuff
Welcome aboard!
Looks like another travel to California video. Glad you’re enjoying your visit here.
Don’t forget Gibraltar road in Santa Barbara
Great video! where in California ?

Old La Honda ⬆️ hwy 84 down in Bay Area. Latigo, Piuma, Stunt, and Rock Store in Malibu.
First minutes looks like peak district 😅
Insane bike!
Enjoyed this after a long day at work, on day when I could ride. Thx. Now take it down, I like when people think California is a wasteland. 😉
Glad you enjoyed it!
Try Page Mill in Palo Alto. No joke! Please post your strava routes
What bike is that RB or Gravel ??
Hey David, welcome to my neck of the woods.
thanks for having me :)
Enjoyed that. Central CA is great for cycling. Looks like you finished in Cayucos ? Had a great holiday there in 2014. Cheers from Australia
No, it's Avila Beach just north of Písmo Beach. My favorite area of the Central Coast to ride.

It's tempting, so tempting!! Definitely need to book another trip and head down south
All in one place hours away from each other.😂
All the best videos of the areas you mentioned are on safa brian RUclips channel...he is the G.O.A.T of those areas
WHERE in CA was this road, David?
Just south and inland from Morro Bay
Hi David
Great descending video 🚴♂️👍 I’d be happy doing the climbing 🚴♂️🙂👍
Do past tour of California routes they are awesome.
What bar and stem are on this bike?
ENVE AR and in route stem
@@ramonguerra1430 thanks
I have to keep reminding myself when I travel to USA that they still use miles and Fahrenheit.
You need to do Mt Diablo!!!
Is this the Bridge bike❤
Yes
Thanks David,
Can't wait for a detailed video about this bike. It is really interesting in terms of road build combined with wide tyres.
Give us the routes!
I liked watching it at 1.5x speed.
😂 your on a different dimension
Def gorgeous
No wonder people can get 100 miles in np😏
You are quite fasr 👍

Beautiful but roads are shit.
you really do have to watch out. Some of the pavement is really neglected.
