At least with nintendo they make sure their games are released to a standard. Regardless I don't buy anything, especially anything electronic, till awhile after release for them to fix all the major problems.

We take reputation and dignity pretty seriously here from a very young age, so if they’re not as important to you, it’s understandable. They most certainly are important to a company like CDPR though, and any company out there. Better to take a loss by delaying the game even further than what’s going on right now.

Let's not forget that CDPR attempted to hide this from reviewers by not allowing them to see PS4/XB1 versions. And the media is also at fault for not telling them to kiss their collective ass if they were going to hide content.Also, if Sony and MS have been rubber-stamping the approval process, well that's shameful too. Also, some blame to go on players who continue to preorder games before they know if they're any good or not. There's a lot of blame to go around with this.
The "approval process" is just them testing to make sure the buttons work and little shit like that. It's not Sony's job to make sure there's no bugs because ALL game companies have bug testers for that. No CDPR probably gave Microsoft and Sony a downgraded version that ran better just for them to test their controls and whatnot just to be able to get the most sales. It all came down to being able to sell it on the ps4 since it has way more Consoles in homes so they knew they could make alot just off ps4 sales yet CDPR is in Microsofts hip pocket all the time and was reluctant to give the witcher 3 a patch for the ps4 pro after giving the Xbox one x a patch no problem. Microsoft gave them some money so that's why they're more on the side of Microsoft. I haven't liked CDPR since they always talk shit about Sony being anti consumer when it was Microsoft that helped bring microtransactions into games along with EA, at least Sony makes good games and actually keeps microtransactions out while also keeping bugs to an absolute minimum until they're completely squashed. I believe CDPR have been acting like they're pro consumer just for this game so they could maximize profits. But they probably thought people would forgive the bugs till they fixed them ha! Nope! We don't give passes to EA, Ubisoft, Activision or Bethesda so they won't get special treatment for a failed launch either.
Yeah but most of it goes to CDPR as they could’ve avoided all of this themselves because even without the bugs and issues on consoles, the game wasn’t just finished, even for PC.

Back in the day when I was a kid, almost every released games was mature and had no significant bugs. Because they can't update a broken the game via internet update back then 😂
Back then the games were a bit different too. Now a days things are bit more on grand scale when you compare to 90s and early 2000s. Back then it was unheard of for game to be in the workings for 4 years. Now it's standard for new triple AAA game.

Games have gotten a lot more complicated just in the last decade, that means more time and more complications. It's unavoidable.
Back in the day when I was a kid, in 90s, i never bought a game before the test and even right now, the only game i bought blindly was diablo 3 because i'm a fan and even if the game is shit, i played it :).
I don't think anybody in 90s bought a game without seeing a test on it, but now people are stupid, they buy something without knowing if it will be good or not and then cry after for refunding, sometime it work and sometime not, but because of this way to do, shits like what we see for a lot of games happen, cyberpunk was not the first, was not the worst and will not be the last !

I’ve had an amazing experience with Cyberpunk, so out of the two games I’ve ever preordered, fallout 4 was the disappointment. Not everyone is having terrible experiences

Nah, people should did their research first. Honestly the witcher launch is far from perfect, thats why i didnt PO cyberBONK. Nier Automata on the other hand, i've known the crazy taro from his game since PS2 day so i know what to expect when i pound that PO button, and i wasn't disappointed. The next nier replicant remaster is supposed to be good, but since platinum games is not in charge again this time, ill wait until the last day of PO duedate to decide. PO is good to revive dead franchise like nier, I personally dont mind PO, it could helps the minority

There is NO WAY Cyberpunk passed Sony Cert. No way in the world. So that means Sony gave CDProjectRed a pass without seeing the game. So for ONE, Cyberpunk gained an unfair advantage over other apps trying to release on the store. ALSO, it means Sony and MS broke their contract with the players that buy their consoles: Literally, the REASON players buy consoles is for a guaranteed plug-and-play experience. If players were willing to accept variable quality of games on release, THEY WOULD BUY A PC. So Sony and MS should do MORE than just offer a refund. They broke their promise of quality to the player. Sony and MS should admit, yeah we didn't bother to do our job: They should make it right with the players by giving some store credit for free.

It’s not just bugs. It’s because there was a HUGE lapse of integrity. They withheld review copies for consoles and only allowed PC reviews. They knew how bad it was on console. They lied. They marketed a false promise and sold it to us.

Wow guys, what can I say. I am a PC player, and I still found the bugs unacceptable. I got a few hours into the story, and when I started seeing people holding invisible guns and stuff I just uninstalled it. I don't want my memories of the storyline permanently ruined!!!
I'm sick of this whole "redemption story" with developers nowadays... It shouldn't be expected that a game will be broken, just release a well made game, don't be a snakey company first and then try win people back, it's just dumb.

@Molo sernan It's hard to say they really redeemed themselves. Most people who were there for the initial hype never came back because they took years to makeup on their empty promises. Unless you give CDPR like 2 years after the game has been released, you can't really say that. With CDPR, the base game is all there, it's just bugged to hell and back. With No mans sky, they literally didn't even have it where you could see other people in the chance you did run into someone. Both made big promises and both were letdowns. We just have to accept that until we stop accepting this garbage and buying the fuck out of these overhyped dumpster fires, that's all we're going to get.

Yeah, I waited for No Man Sky and after realase and whole shit show I'm glad I didn't do it. Now people telling that NMS is actually quite good game, but I don't care anymore I will never buy this game and CDPR with CP2077 is on the same path of doom for me. Naah I can live without NMS just like without CP2077, for me this game doesn't exist, I know it's waaaaaaay better now than it was on launch but it's not the same. Now I'm waiting for Distant Worlds 2 and I hope this time dev will be able to do what is right. If this means I have to wait for that game 5 more years I will. But I rather wait than have first impression ruined.

Nope, not a damned thing will it fix because it's the stock holders and investors that are the actual problem.
It also has to do with consoles offering discless options - they now have to protect the digital library much more. Ps5 and series x players without a disc drive have only the digital library. This was done to reduce cost of entry and expand player base. They have to protect that new market share by cracking down on the content.

1. Major studios are mostly not subject to certification or any sort of limitation. They are treated differently due to reputation, trust, etc.
2. There is always a point at which developers says f*** it because publishers/leading management rushing developers to the extreme levels. That force is real and you need to let people know that developers are really under so much pressure sometimes to get features asked by management in an unreasonable time.

Not to defend any of these companies but EA never released an unplayable game. Fallout 76 was a buggy mess but its patched and completely playable now, but for Cyberpunk, we don't know if its a permnant hardware issue or just poor optimization. And CDPR didn't give any refunds to base console players, they just told them to go ask sony and Microsoft for it

That means over 25% of their sales could be refunded, and the platform on which over 25% of their sales have been made thus far has blocked them from selling. It's a very big setback, and one could argue, it means it is no longer the biggest day one seller anymore.
@@robertb1802 well but lets not forget, according to CDPR, cyberpunk became profitable in 24 hours of sale, even if we took some insane number like 50% of all sales were refunded, which they were not (i have no number to base it on, but my guess would be less than 5% of total buyers refunded). That still, with every second copy returned, would take only 2 days for them to became profitable again. Even though the game got a lot of criticism, its financial success is incredible.

Bethesda games might be riddled to shit with bugs, but at least they are playable. From what i've read, Cyberpunk has multiple game breaking bugs that can set you back hours of gameplay. Cyberpunk is officially below Bethesda standards.

@@chadthundercockmasterbaite2187 Uh, no. Bethesda games are considerably more buggy than this. Game breaking bugs are few and far between. Just a decent amount of immersion breaking visual glitches. My perspective is from the PC version so i cant speak to the experience on base consoles. The game is really good but its just unfinished. It needed another 6 months. The performance is really poor and its buggy and its inexcusable but the standards of a Bethesda are to the point where the game doesn't even have to work on launch.
Bethesda games are also way more open and interactive than CDPR games. Just something to take into account.

I actually think that a huge part of this problem is the transition from PS4 to PS5. As in, possibly coding the game for PS5 while also trying to make it work for PS4 made it a huge mess. I say this because I have noticed that any game that I got for PS4 and then played on PS5 has had issues that didn't exist on PS4.

What got me hyped for this game was when CDPR made comments about triple a companies (EA) being greedy and abusing the loot box system. Forgot the actual quote they said but shame how for so long they and many others hyped this game only to see it fall HARDER than No Mans Sky. I was also close to pre-ordering this game believing them, never got around it cus of reasons but lesson learned, never pre-ordering games ever. Their reputation from their previous games made me believe them even more for how good CP2077 was going to be only to also be fooled :(

Sony did a good thing. I am enjoying this game alot but there is no denying it is riddled with bugs at this point. I can understand the people who want a refund completely. I also never ever Pre-Order. That is the biggest scam machine you can think of. And here it proves once again why it does not work because it does not live up to the promise. Pre-Order should be banned. Companies held to the fact that a game must first be completely finished before it ever sees a store let alone the online store. I am so sick and tired of this half assed game making and fix it later policy. And i think Sony is as well. Because this is certainly a example where it costs way to much money to afford to let it slide.

I'm not trying to justify GTA online or RDR online both of which are grindy mess, with stupidly expensive things to buy and filled with griefers, hackers and toxic assholes. However Rockstar always delivers when it comes to their open worlds, dynamic npc, ragdoll physics, great enemy AI, realistic details, beautiful graphics, smooth performance and I can go on and on. So technically they are the gold standard.

I'm someone that actually LIKES microtransactions when theyre friendly, intuitive, and non-intrusive. I have rich parents so sometimes I can even go into the vilified "whale" category, such as spending $500 in Warframe, $600 in Path of Exile, or $800 in Black Desert Online over the course of 2 years. But even still, GTA is as unforgivably intrusive, forced, and downright predatory as it gets. There will NEVER be a game that can be called a gold standard when it engages in predatory practices, because that is an outright contradictory statement in itself by definition.

When I say gold standard, I mean that when it comes to delivering a great open world crime game, Rockstar devs are the masters of their craft.
Rockstar goes to great lengths to add ridiculous amounts of content, details and depth to their game. They don't rush out their games and leave gamers disappointed by the finished product. Also do you even play games made by Ubisoft, EA, Activision, Bethesda and Square Enix, these assholes have made a fortune out of microtransactions. Hell Ubisoft games have time saver microtransactions which directly affect player progression in campaign mode. EA keeps on releasing their yearly sports games, all of which are pretty much the same with just bare minimum changes. EA is so lazy that they copy/paste assets from their previous sports games and transfer it to their new sports games. Activision has been milking Call of Duty forever and charges you money for simple stuff like a red dot in your scope. Finally Bethesda and Square Enix release live service broken games with no content.
Before pointing fingers look around at other awful game devs, I'm not saying Rockstar is a saint but they sure as hell didn't put in microtransactions in their campaign modes and ruin player progression. Their campaign mode is the main meat of the game with hours of content and their online mode is just side trash that's not important for enjoying the game. Also bro you support microtransactions and claim to be a whale so your opinion really doesn't carry much weight.
One thing that I believe should come back as a blast from the past is the ''Seal of Approval'' on games, like Nintendo's Seal of Approval, a long time ago the entire video game industry almost crashed and vanished, killed at birth-- because of shitty games. Who says the same thing can't happen (on a different scale) if we as consumers don't trust the industry, trust the big names anymore, trust the developers to deliver what they tell us we are getting? Today, everyone and their grandmother can make a game and release it if they have the ability, do we really want to be scammed by either shitty games, or game developers that lie to us about the product they promise for our money? For the console market: Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo-- I believe in what ones existed, a more strict and thorough hands-on experience with the games from these hardware delivering high-tech industry organisations is an answer to a solution, it worked ones-- that is exactly what happened after the crash, and what saved gaming as an industry-- it forced not only commitment, but a guarantee SEAL OF QUALITY from the industry manufactors that what you got was a PLAYABLE product, be it in the form of an actual good game, or the quality of how said game was supposed to function.
