La Cala de Mijas is a town that belongs to the municipality of Mijas, in the province of Málaga in Andalucía, in southern Spain.
It is located in the coastal area of the municipality, with the exception of some rocky areas that exist between the limits of Fuengirola, to the east, and Marbella, to the west. La Cala de Mijas is a small population center less than a kilometer long.
La Cala de Mjias was an agricultural and fishing area until the beginning of the tourist boom in the 1960s. There are four towers that were part of the fortified line along the Andalusian Mediterranean coast, whose defensive function consisted of giving notice in the presence of enemy ships.
The town is mainly dedicated to sun and beach and residential tourism. It also offers some municipal services such as health centers, schools, cultural centers and library.There are plenty of good restaurants, shops and beach-front bars as well in the area.
La Cala de Mijas enjoys a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and warm winters. Cooling breezes from the sea make the summer here manageable, with temperature average of 32 degrees during the summer.

Observo que existen viviendas demasiado cerca del rompiente de las olas, sin dejar una franja más ancha de seguridad. Nunca había visto tanta proximidad. Normalmente debe ir un muro bajo que sirve de asiento para los transeúntes, luego un andén amplio, les sigue una avenida sembrada de palmas, y entonces sí las construcciones. Video muy entretenido pero inquietante.
