Thank you so much for a thorough and understandable presentation of Syncope. I have Vaso
Vagal Syncope. I kinda self diagnosed from the net. After fainting and falling, resulting in 4 fractured ribs, with x-ray showing atherosclerosis of the thoracic aorta, my GP referred me to a cardiologist for evaluation. I told him of my history and known triggers ie vena puncture, dehydration, over heating especially with exertion, standing too long, and bloody accidents. After a complete work up that included nuclear stress test, vascular echos of carotid, le venous reflux and fu, he agreed my self diagnosis was correct. After the fall and broken ribs, I will now get to the ground or lay down as soon as I feel it coming on. Cause I’m gonna wind up there anyway.

Also psych meds, anticholinergics, and opioids can cause orthostatic hypotension. Not sure the exact mechanisms behind them.
