Been there and played it. When the wind blows, it is impossible. And it blows up quickly and intermittently with huge gusts that last for 10 minutes at a time, then just as mysteriously, disappears. The only saving grace is that it is open and flat with fantastic greens. An unforgettable experience and definitely the best course I have ever played.
I recently got a job at the resort’s hotel and get playing privileges at all 5 courses. It’s such a blessing to have the opportunity to play the ocean course for practically no cost whenever I want as long as I’m not interfering with the guests’ tee times.
The Ocean Course should be played every 8-12 years as part of the PGA Championship staple courses. Been to Kiawah twice, the only major issue I see is getting spectators on and off the island, that has to be a logistical nightmare.
Too many fans = not a good experience. I actually didn't mind no fans at tournaments - so tired of all the asinine comments like "MASHED POTATOES!" Too many idiots trying to be heard.
Agree 100%, the Ocean Course should be on the PGA Championships rota for sure, and I think it will be. It has a knack for creating drama, which makes for great theatre in a major championship.
I really like how the PGA Championship isn’t afraid to go to courses like this. They’ll set up the course as tough and as fair as they can, and if the winning score is 15 under, they don’t care. Spectacular course in a great setting.
I miss more "every hole at..." videos outside de US. And not just the next Open Championship Course which is great but also other gems in the UK and Ireland like Royal County Down or Royal Dornoch. Thanks for the great videos, I keep watching them over and over.
Even with well-made electronic re-creation and simulation, this course is both challenging and ruthless! Very few holes have I been able to actually lower my score on, and if your drives or iron shots aren't true, nor consistent, maintaining Even Par can often become a real problem here! That treacherous Par 3 17th can totally destroy even a good round!
If you think Kiawah Island (Ocean Course) is BIG, wait until you see its "Twin brother" Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, SC. It is as big as Torrey Pines (South) and Kiawah (Ocean Course). You will see that course in two weeks (June 10-13) week before the U.S.Open.
Does the narrator at the end say you ill experience one of the most miserable rounds or one of the most memorable rounds? My experience was a bit of both! There's just nothing like this golf course. Leave your ego at the door. Just go experience it for yourself. I would even add "magical" to the list of superlatives!
Ocean is over rated and overpriced for 90% of golfers, unless you are a low single digit handicap. Played all the Kiawah courses in ‘96,97,98...my recommendation, Go down the street, Turtle Point and Cougar Point are much nicer and more playable. Ocean lost 5 fairways and 4 greens to disease one year(98?)then wanted $170 for a replay. Next year our 12 went to Pinehurst and found golf heaven! 21 years later we still go annually! The course choices are endless with many top quality tracks within a 5 minute drive.
We need more of these

Do a flyover of Augusta National narrated by Sir David Attenborough next April
16, 17 and 18 are just a beautiful end to a great adventure.
Yep... I love 18 and 18
The Ocean Course was one of my favorite courses in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08. To see it captured like this, it is unbelievably stunning.
Not sure I can shoot a 55 on 18 holes playing the actual course, LOL :)
It's great on ' 14 too
Was also on WGT

I've played it once. It's extraordinary.
Hello 👋🏻 nice to meet you Norman, hope you’re safe and well?
The Ocean Course is absolutely beautiful, and this video shows it in all it's glory. Thanks, Golf Digest.

Kiawah Island is good enough to host the U.S.Open too or any of the Senior Majors also.
I’ve still got to pinch myself that I’ve actually played this wonderful golf course 👌🏻
You're rich.
@@kyleklontz3214 I wish lol it was a boys trip of a lifetime, also played pinehurst no 2 and Hilton head during the trip
@@martinkscott I get to play it 12 days after the PGA, can't wait. Also a boys golf trip, and I'm also not rich!
and...?
@@bobzubb and I’ve also played sawgrass a couple of times
I'm playing here June 17th! This video was great but now I'm scared shitless!! lol. Better grab me some more balls!

Love this course. I've played it online hundreds of times.
Playing it tomorrow! Can't wait to see the amazing architecture of this beast.
How did it go? I’m playing it in August

One of the must-play course on my bucket list
forget this fake stuff. Go to Ireland and Scotland.
@@bobzubb boo

What a beautiful course.
I’m playing it tomorrow morning. Trying to get an idea of what I’m getting myself into.
Amazing golf course. Amazing video. Can't wait for the PGA Championship this weekend.
I love this series
a true birds-eye view would be beneficial
You should look into some of the courses in Rocky Mountains. Jasper Park Lodge and Banff Springs in Alberta are incredible vistas
And then head east to the maritimes
This is stunning
Hello 👋🏻 nice to meet you craig, hope you’re safe and well?
Whose ready to play this in VR on Golf+ ?!
is Wolf Creek better?
Looking forward to playing this on Golf + VR on my Oculus!
So pure
Doing some research, playing it twice in mid September as part of a boys golf trip. I think I’m gonna shoot 120 lol
Hey guys an update here. Played it today. I’m a 21 handicap, but I had a fantatatic round and shot a legit 86!!!! 0 lost balls.
Can not wait to be here next week
Good luck, hope you make it to the weekend!!
Waited for this one
Beautiful. If only I could at least find some way of watching the Open. :(

I'm a steady 9 hcp golfer on a course with a 140 slope rating that is considered tough. But on the Ocean Course, I doubt I'd break 100 on a good day.
Not a huge fan of the narrator but what a beautiful course. I think Bubba is a decent sleeper this week, but as always, I’ll be rooting for Tony
Will there be a gallery? Can't imagine where they'll stand...
just watch the 2012 pga champ lol
Please do one for Whistling Straits since the Rider Cup is coming soon
Here's a flyover of every hole at Whistling Straits ruclips.net/p/PLHfq1ydEWJrDnRwGGCalNEDxSmR9dp3nu
Great minds think alike.
This looks so hard
Is this a public course? Id love to play here one day!
It is public
@@MetallicaRules And green fees are $380!
@@kyleklontz3214 I didn't say it wasn't crazy expensive, I just said it was public.
Kyle Klontz Worth it
@@kyleklontz3214 +$100 more for the forecaddie thats required to go out with you.
Where do fans stand? Marsh, sand or tall grass?
was thinking the same thing!

True. During each flyover, I could visualize all the hazards and lakes I could hit a golf ball into.
Royal st George’s needed next...
I'm sorry but you need Jim Nantz to narrate like at Cypress and Pebble...
Those already out
I wonder how many pros watched this ⛳️

You're free to have your opinion, but I don't think many people would agree that Turtle Point and Cougar Point are nicer than the Ocean Course.
Wrong
This doesn’t seem like my idea of fun.
I’ll leave it to the Pro’s to earn their dough when the play for pay for the 2021 PGA
Good lord.........
Does the narrator have a cold?
The best vein postprandially interest because value temporally check upon a abnormal dime. dazzling, empty roof
Splendid. What was that?
How did you get Donald Trump to narrate this video?
nnnnnnnnope. 🤣
Wierd how much this is like Fried Egg.
I shot a 90 here and an 84 at Augusta in 94'. Try to figure that one out hah!
