I’ve been hoping Golf Digest would do this for National Golf Links!!! I’ve never seen this course before and after watching this, National might be the best course I’ve ever seen!
This has always been my #1 bucket list Golf Course. When I was younger my plan was to camp out somewhere near the entrance with a sign hoping a member would let me play a round. I’m 55 years old now and all I want is to play a single CB McDonald course.
What a stunning course… but it’s a shame that 99% will never get a chance to play it, unlike most of the greats of Scotland which you can actually play.
That is always my point mate. I've played all open courses, kingsbarn royal dornoch and dunbarnie to name a few. I don't have a handicap certificate. They just want your money. I did play here 4 years ago, but that was sheer luck 😅
I watched the usga flyovers of shinnecock and while it looks nice, i cant believe GD has that ahead of this gem. My bucket list is Augusta 1A and NGLA 1B
What an awesome and scenic golf paradise. If a member of this club would be in a generous mood and willing to be my benefactor, I would relish the opportunity to play this gem just once in my life. I am a 50 something Desert Storm Marine Corps veteran. My means are quite modest. But for a once in a lifetime opportunity, I would certainly get myself to Long Island. Bless you my wealthy friend for your consideration. I am hopelessly, irretrievably in love with the game of golf and it’s history and traditions. I know it would never happen if I didn’t at least ask. So, I am asking. Thank you so very much. And thank you Jesus. ✝️😀
Golf heaven. But is anyone else sick of these clubs that are only played by the rich and connected? Are we meant to bow down and grovel to be invited to play? To me, these are not golf courses. They are private playgrounds that do not deserve attention or Golf Digest ratings. Golf is a game for the people. Bethpage Black, Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, etc, are courses where the average man can play alongside the pros. I even believe the USGA should take locations like Winged Foot off their rotation.
I've never actually looked at an american course and wanted to play it; this is different, stunning. Every hole almost as good as the originals. Still not a links though.
Please never stop making these
I was fortunate to play here around 4 years ago, just before the open was at shinnecock. This footage doesn't doe it justice. It is unbelievable.

Idk, it looks miserable to play. I could see going there once. Not sure who would ever want to be a member.
@@chevy4x466Miserable to play? Are you kidding? This looks like golf in heaven!
Whistling Straights , Pebble Beach , Brandon Dunes , Pine Valley , Kiawah Island are my favorites.
One of the best tracks out there.. Proud to say I've had the opportunity.. Thanks Rich. RIP

played here in June and birdied 9 and 16, it's even more stunning than you'd imagine. The 14th, 16th and 17th are incredible holes
This is and has always been #1 on my bucket list. Just absolute perfection. Too bad it may never happen for me.
Playing there in early June. Can't wait !
Count me in if you need a fourth, Ian.
Thanks Gil.
I was lucky enough to play this great course, liked it more than Shinnecock
This makes me so freaking happy!
This course looks amazing
I was lucky to play here once, and it’s my favorite course I ever played!!

It looks like the greatest course in the world. I'd give anything to play it.
It is. Unbelievable. The feeling you get in your bones on the first tee. Never felt it in my life.
Would love an Olympic Club edition!
Absolutely gorgeous

Macdonald and Raynor were masters of they’re craft

Boy, and people have said that Pete Dye's courses are wild.....
Special track
Absolutely fantastic
Soooo, how do i play it?
Please do one for sahalee cc
Some others worthy of seeing: Fishers, Merion and Garden City.
I'd like to see Pine Valley.
Have you played them?
The drone views make this video so much better.
How can the Redan hole be better than the one it copies at North Berwick?
Only good GD content

👏👏👏👏👏
Old McDonald had a farm and he named it National
Voted snootiest private golf club in America. Why waste our time?
That was in the 1960's, to be fair.

Not a links?
@@wyoappaloosa2398 The statement stands for itself.
