Yes!!! #1 baby. SL55 AMG is an absolute weapon. VRP Pulley and cooling with a tune from Eurocharged and I’m doing 200mph and dominating mustangs and corvettes without issue. The ABC suspension is awesome but yes it can be a little costly if something goes wrong. But this level of performance comes with a $200k price tag new so it’s all about perspective. A hardtop convertible is also more secure than the fabric ones on the new model. Just do good maintenance and you’re in business.
$200k?? You wouldn’t need to spend anywhere near that much to keep up with your tuned sl55. An M5 Competition or E63S are less than $120k. A 992 GTS is $149k, a Turbo is $175k, and the new Corvette Z06 will be around $100k. I don’t think you’re dominating any GT500s or ZL-1s either lol. Those are $65-75k. Finally, where are you driving 200 mph in the US?
SL55 is very powerful yes and you can even get it so around 550-580HP with a tune (but please dont forget to cool it properly). But the SL still weighs at around appr. 2.100kg and a corvette, even the c6 6.2 coupe weighs at around 1.500kg with 436hp factory. If you tune it, you can get easily 480hp out of it. Now i cant imagine that the sl will be quicker with the older transmission and that more weight. I owned a cl55 supercharger (crazy fast) and i own a c6 6.2 coupe from 2009, so i think i can compare them. The vette is stronger stock. But the mercedes is miles ahead when it comes to interior and build quality, no question. But then again, the c6 is easier to maintain and more efficient
@@gregs8685 I'm pretty sure he meant the SL55 went for around $200k when it was new, meaning maintenance is always going to be expensive no matter how old it is.
The W220/215 55K twins might as well deserve a place. They are insanely fast even with the bulk and well echo back to the spirit of 6.3 and 6.9. Moreover they are still dirt cheap.
What about the W203 2004-2006 C55 AMG? Surely it counts for something seeing that it is once of the most reliable AMG's out there? These C55's were very low production numbers as well ( approx. 4000 globally) In future, I see the value of these car rising if they are maintained well.
North America was something like ~1,900. It's too bad we did not get the wagon. Definitely uncommon, and you get great reliable running gear in a compact unassuming package. Sedan-for-sedan The 2021 Toyota Corolla is nearly identical in size, and twice the price of a moderate mile C55.
I bought a 2006 CLS55 AMG in Dec 2019 for $13k. It had 89,000 miles. I felt like I bought it at the bottom of the market but time will tell. It's at the age where I've had to give it some major services but it's worth it to keep it on the road. It definitely gets some attention.
I got mine in October 2021 for $15,500 at 84,000 miles. About $6k in DIY service/mods over the 6 months and aside from small little bits and pieces it is mechanically perfect and ready for a lot more horsepower!
Definitely a bargain, even if you’ve put more money into it. There’s really not a lot else you can get for under 30k that is as fast, as luxurious, as good looking and as comfortable as these CLS/E55’s are.
Yep got mine in Sept 2020 for $12,000 It had some miles 118K miles.. A lot of maintenance was done. Already tuned. Close to 600Hp Pully swap, White on tan leather. Gorgeous car. I love it! I need to drive her more..
Surprised the S55 AMG didnt make the list. I picked up an 03 model w/ m113k, no accidents, 120k miles for $9k. And I’ve seen many clean examples listed at $12k and below. Mine is on coilovers already, so no abc issues. That’s a tremendous bargain for a 500hp car.
I picked up an 04 S55 in Dark Blue / Cream Tan interior in 2019 for about $7500. Needed rear air suspension replaced but had 69k miles at the time. All the electronics worked too and I sold it for $11k before Covid now I’m kicking myself lol.

The fact that Steve Job's drove an SL55 during iPhone development was a huge influence on me respecting the R230. I suspect the virtuoso engineering had some inspiration and influence on him too. "63" in C63 is what keeps me away from a C63 Btw, honorable mention to the biturbo e550 w212. I know it's not a AMG but a crazy bargain for cheap performance after a tune!
I have a 2021 GLA 35! It's a baby engine AMG but it comes with all the fun of an AMG! It's the perfect amount of power and get up and go! I don't feel like I have more horsepower than I can use like other AMGS i test drove
I love my 2014 C63 2 dr. Tons of fun. But, if I had the money i would love an SLR. My dad worked for a Mercedes dealer up until 1993. So I love the older one's like the 500 and 600 SL's and further back the SEL cars.
I think the 2003-2006 cl55 should have been added as well same m113k engine we all love in a s class coupe with rear seating as well unlike the sl55 and the long pillar-less body is definitely a good look to and even cheaper then the sl55 with same features and no hard top convertible to go bad

Duuuuude. Those CLS55 prices are sick. I didn’t even realize they were that cheap with decent miles. Makes me think that I could probably find a good CLS500 for an okay price, even in this market. I want a W211 but good ones are pretty hard to come by.
I could never have afforded one new but I bought a black 2005 E55 just like the one in this video 2 years ago and it has gone up slightly in value from what I paid for it. I have done a few mods such as a 77mm pulley and RaceIQ tune and I replaced the AirMatic with adjustable coil overs when one of the front struts blew last year. It was rust free, had excellent service history and the 2 previous owners only drove it 6500 miles a year (only 98k miles when I bought it). It had a minor fender bender in its history and it has some less than perfect paint work in a few places that I have polished and corrected to my satisfaction (looks good from 10 feet away) so it’s not a super-pristine example that I’m committing a sacrilege changing but I have kept to mostly performance or upgrade mods and kept the exterior completely stock minus a set of black headlights and dark tinted windows. I spent around $2k the first year doing maintenance (fluids, tires, trans service and conductor plate, etc.) and replacing worn suspension parts and the coil overs were $1500 this year but I have driven this car over 1000 miles in a weekend at 90+mph with no drama or surprises and I am still amazed at how good this car is after all these years.
I owned the first AMG in America C36 3.6 L6 and only 200 of them were imported from Germany for 3 years, mine has only 44k miles all original, pristine condition.
I had a sl55 or 65 but the most bargain amg is a Cl not the 500 it has to be in the tens so like a Cl 55 supercharged v8 making if I remember I think 500 and something horse power.

Your videos are so informative and well put together. Amazing quality photos and the music is just perfect.
My 04 E55 just got totaled so.....I'm quite bummed. To say the least.
The W220/215 55K twins might as well deserve a place. They are insanely fast even with the bulk and well echo back to the spirit of 6.3 and 6.9. Moreover they are still dirt cheap.
2007 Mercedes R63 AMG is the fastest minivan that should be on the list. It is truly impressive with its V8 engine producing 507 hp. Just my opinion.
It's so rare

What about the W203 2004-2006 C55 AMG? Surely it counts for something seeing that it is once of the most reliable AMG's out there?
These C55's were very low production numbers as well ( approx. 4000 globally)
In future, I see the value of these car rising if they are maintained well.
Yeah true! AMG meister used to have a C55 sedan. I have a black C55 wagon which i'm tidying up - they're few & far between.
@@thatmatty231guy I'm hugely jealous. Loving my C55 sedan, but miss having a fast wagon.
Not too many people know of the C55. I only knew about it a week before I bought mine. The price has stayed the same ever since
I bought a 2006 CLS55 AMG in Dec 2019 for $13k.
@@insayn7995 yes, mine could use about $6k in work and upgrades as it is close to 100,000 miles. After that, it should be good for quite a while.
@@don_huzan That would have been a good amount of money today lol. Im debating whether I should keep mine or sell it to try to make some money. Im leaning on keep. I enjoy not having a car payment right now lol
@@ChokolateSushi23 honestly keep it, I predict that once the new hybrid 4-cylinder turbo AMGs hit the market, all of these big v8 AMGs - even the naturally aspirated pre 2003 ones - will go up in value big time. Can’t go wrong with holding onto the M113k because it’s so reliable too.
The fact that Steve Job's drove an SL55 during iPhone development was a huge influence on me respecting the R230. I suspect the virtuoso engineering had some inspiration and influence on him too. Could Jobs be the reason for the Apple 30 pin connector found in the facelift [2008-2012] years? The fact that he drove it more than any other car says a lot that he can't say today.
And he would swap for a new identical sl55 every 6 months to avoid having to put plates on it
Bro I've been following you for years and you are legend when it comes to anything Mercedes!!
Keeping my SL55 totally stock and watching it go up in value £££
2003 Just 38k miles

Hi mate. How much did you spend until now with your ABC suspension? I am a little cautious about purchasing one due to it.
@@caiocastro972 ABC still all original on mine.
They generally don't give trouble till at least 60k.
Even then it doesn't all break at once.
Valve block seal repair kits are cheap as chips around £50.
I would never contemplate an ABC delete kit.
Far more work than renewing a few O rings !!!
its crazy how in the uk we can buy the facelift w204 just for £20k
I like and own a CLS 63 AMG. Other then the occasional electric gremlins, it’s a great car. And mine does have the performance package. I’m surprised that didn’t make your list.
CLS 55 is just the better option between the two, although the 63 sounds great
Saving up for one this summer. How does feel compared to a non performance package cls?
Loving Rom Di prisco in the background. Amazing cars, especially the C63!
Why c55 is not on the list?
Your videos always make me want to work harder
I love my 09 C63 AMG…I’ve done a few mods under the hood and exhaust system (long tube header upgrade) and I’m pushing just over 600hp…..this car is so fun to drive….I have an 08 c300 as my daily beater..but I’ll never sell my c63.
God the W219 CLS looks so good. Even today, absolutely beautiful design.
Yes I got a cls 55 amg..love that car,she is a beast, absolute comfort and reliability from that motor.
Always great videos. Yesterday, i have made some research for C63 AMG . It is true that we can found wonderful cars for fair prices. Thank you so much for your help and all your knowledge .
I have a w204-507 Edition and I cannot recommend it enough, simply a blast to drive. One thing I think was forgotten was that the SL55 has a very expensive suspension system and if it's bad it could be expensive to replace.
After some long stints of thinking and calculating which AMG I can afford from my time period 90's mid 2000's, using a maintenance checklist of about 2,000 $USD a year, with a downpayment of around5K$ at dealership, 697 credit score, the SLR is my choice.
Damn that CLS is one of my dream cars! Along with the 2000-era s65 or cl65
What about the 2006 s65 for its rarity and great price.
I was wondering if the SL55 was going to get some love. Bought mine last year for 21k
Just bought a C43 and it’s super fun
Surprised you didn’t talk about w211 E55 or E63. I love w211. I watch your channel and AccentOnCars all the time.
"63" in C63 is what keeps me away from a C63
Btw, honorable mention to the biturbo e550 w212. I know it's not a AMG but a crazy bargain for cheap performance after a tune!
Awesome video bro
I somehow feel like the C63 sedan is underrated
What about the clk55 amg w208?
Yes!
Watch my old videos,on of my oldest videos.I used to have a cabriolet with the wiesmann hardtop💪
CLS Shooting Brake wouldve been a good call. But I'm guessing it wasnt included because it wasnt available in the US?
I have a 2021 GLA 35! It's a baby engine AMG but it comes with all the fun of an AMG! It's the perfect amount of power and get up and go! I don't feel like I have more horsepower than I can use like other AMGS i test drove
So happy i got myself a C63 Wagon. Such an awesome car
Ah, you’re one of those lucky ones?!!!!
@@edwardprokopchuk3264 Many people told me the C63 Wagon is pretty rare in the US. They are really common here in Germany. This car is pure joy
@@Stamina1337 From what i know there were no C63 wagons imported to the USA.
@@williamgeorge4939 That's true. But you can import by yourself or a company.

I love my 2014 C63 2 dr. Tons of fun. But, if I had the money i would love an SLR. My dad worked for a Mercedes dealer up until 1993. So I love the older one's like the 500 and 600 SL's and further back the SEL cars.
I would have added the CLK 63 AMG W209. An amazing car with an amazing look and a superb engine!
The W220 S65... I really wonder when they are going to appreciatre in price and desirability?!?!?!
I really like the CLS55, very sleek styled body with that torque monster s/c v8.
I bought a nice c32 amg wagon - for just 5k euros, I think it's the cheapest amg out there.
Awesome video man!
The CLK55 is a better looking coupe than any mentioned. M113 engine in a beautiful short wheelbase platform.
Excellent presentation of the AMG’s
Been looking for a W204 C63 AMG for quite a while to add to my E39 M5. Being patient, but I know it will pay off. Glad to see it here on this list!
Plenty on auto trader...
I think the 2003-2006 cl55 should have been added as well same m113k engine we all love in a s class coupe with rear seating as well unlike the sl55 and the long pillar-less body is definitely a good look to and even cheaper then the sl55 with same features and no hard top convertible to go bad
s55 on fb marketplace in my town for 11k 1 elderly owner but i have a CL600 and i couldn’t image it with less power that’s when the 113k is beat.
@@gibsoneustermann9846 where do you live? Is it the s55 sedan with the supercharget?? Man they are crazy expensive in germany! Cant get a decent one for 20k €
Yeah but the S/SL/CL have the horrible ABC suspension

Your content is awesome!
You did forgot the w210 E50 AMG with the M119 engine
great video as always
Great video
2014-2016 CLS 63s AMG is also a great option. Sold for $100,000 MSRP and can get ones with 50-70k miles for as low as $32,000... 577 hp btw
Nice list, always liked the W202 AMG models, both the 36 and 43. List shoukd include the SLK32 and R171 SLK55.
Can you do most reliable AMG
None made the list?
05-11 SLK55 as well!
I have a 2009 c63 p30 tuned. Had it for 12yrs. Only 60k miles. Still turns heads. That stock exhaust note!
great video thanks
The w210 e55 in the next couple years will shoot up in value as it’ll soon become a future classic.
great list
Good picks for value AMGs. I’m still pissed I sold my 2011 C63 with the P30
2007-2009 CLK550 and 2003-2005 CLK 55 are amazing for the $
Shouldve included the always overlooked C55...but im a bit biasd
I thought surely the C55 will be on that list!
My first AMG!
They are getting a little more expensive now. likely because of their reliability as well as being relatively small and nimble. bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-mercedes-benz-c55-amg-13/
I think c32s are still pretty cheap. Of course a lot of people don’t like those because of the supercharged v6 instead of the v8.
@@joedemidovich6530 the c32’s are pretty potent cars!
You can mod the pulleys same as the v8’s.
They’re nice little sleepers!
@@edwardprokopchuk3264 Oh I agree with you there! I’ve owned one for the past year and it has been a blast. Haven’t done any pulley mods yet, but I would imagine it could could kick it up a few notches.
W220 S55/S65 should be on this list!
Very nice video, like always!
I have a 2009 ML AMG 6.3. To drop a naturally aspirated V-8 racing engine good for 503 ponies into amid size suv is bonkers ! And I love it !! Aerodynamics of a brick , but driving skill , gobs of power and fat grippy wheels will see me through !!😃
I really want to add w123 240D or 300D and E55 for daily… these cars growing on me alot
I think the C36 deserves a mention. The true first AMG merger car, bulletproof engine, and can be found for a good price.
Just as quick as the C43 as well
Saving up for a w219 cls63amg this summer. I want one in black
I had a sl55 or 65 but the most bargain amg is a Cl not the 500 it has to be in the tens so like a Cl 55 supercharged v8 making if I remember I think 500 and something horse power.
You missed the best kept secret the 06 CL 55 AMG , Im looking at a few ATM , will buy one soon ...Over priced @ 20, 000 plus , but doable @ 19 ,000
Would like to get the C63 AMG looks slick and powerful
