The E Class as number 1 and from those years is definitely right. I own a 2010 E Class since new. It has 234,000+ miles and counting. Has never left me on the side of the road. Zero oil leaks if you change the PCV cover every 120,000 miles or so. Not expensive at all.
    The repairs:
    A/C blower fan at 150,000.
Rack and pinion at 184,000. Bought a certified used one and installed it myself.
Rain sensor, A/C compressor, and gasket of oil filter housing at around 226,000.
Oh, the leather cover of my seat did tear. Quick and inexpensive repair.
That's it. The rest has been lots of maintenance. Oil, filters, gas, batteries, and lots of road.

Thanks for the video, I totally disagree about W163. I have been using 270CDi more than 200.000km. Extremely reliable. After that i had 55 AMG, mighty V8 M113. Excellent engine. Particularly new models wasn't made to last. To many complaints about quality and reliability. IMHO. Good luck to all!

I own a 2001 W210 E430 (171,000 miles) and a 2005 W211 E55 AMG (118,000 miles), rust free and 2-3 owners each with excellent maintenance histories on both when purchased. I am an experienced technician and I do all of my own maintenance, mods and repairs. I addressed the air ride issues on the E55 and went with an adjustable coil over since I am modding the car to around 600hp and needed something I could adjust when I want to take it to the track or ‘Mexico’… 😉👍
I would get in either car and drive them across the country but there is ALWAYS something minor that’s broken and there are ALWAYS check engine lights that pop on occasionally but most are very minor EGR codes that stay away for months and having an OBD2 plug in scanner and use Torque app is a must to avoid the panic to take it to someone whenever you get a random light. If you are even a little mechanically inclined these cars are rock simple to work on, especially the W210 models and my E430 V8 gets 26-27mpg regularly on highway trips and the E350 models of both body styles are just as tough and reliable, just a little less power and better gas mileage. I’ll never get rid of either of mine.

I had a 94 c- class. The only problem was the rust. But it was the car technically and mechanically sound. It had almost 500k and could easily do another 250k. E-Class diesels are mostly used as taxis in Europe. You can scoop oe for sale with over 500k miles. European benzes have a different spec as comparef to their American counterparts. If you are looking for an older reliable one, go for cloth seats, manual shift and sometimes mechanical windows.

I think this video was wrong about the W202. What should have been there is the W203 of which some had balance shaft issues. How this video missed the W203, remains a mystery. Any Mercedes that uses the M276 (3.5 liter version) engine is generally reliable. This includes the W212 and W204 which never seemed to get mentioned and yet is an outstanding performer.

OK, speaking of cars made 2019 and after in the 2024 doesn't makes sense to refer to those as good cars, because they are still new (car up to 5 years old) The review for the best cars should focus on cars after 5 years in the market production in my opinion. And the cars mentioned as bad choice, most of those are old cars much more than even 10 years old in some cases. My point is we should consider the age of the cars in combination with the annual visits to repair stores! Cheers!

When choosing a mercedes it is esential to be aware of it's issues and to have good specialists for it. I saw w163's, w220's and w202's running ten of thousands of km.
So this video has no real point from a owner point of view. I can also make a video o bmw's best cars without ever owning one just from some quick research.
I agree rust is a problem for the aformentioned models, but consider that a newer C class, a CLA (worst design of mercedes ever made), GLC if they break down after waranty you will be eaten alive. If a Speed Sensor for a 2004 W211 E200 Kompressor is 1100euro, new original part, I don't want to imagine for a new C class.
I would rather keep a w220 as there are tons of parts at car dismantling sites and the rust can be fixed. W202 problems that you listed depend on the engine, but with a little care it will run more than those newer crossovers.
And for people buying a w220 expecting to be maintined by itself, you should consider buying a Prius or better yet, a bicycle, but wait, the chain on that bike will also require perioid oil lubrication, breaks, etc. So please, don't call a car bad just because people don't care to change the oil or run with a 20.000km oil wich even for a 1.9 tDi is stupid.
I've had no personal experience with a w163, I am aware of quality issues regarding the plastics as it is common with the w203, but still the w203 is far from beying a bad car.
Also, the w124 is considered to be legendary by people, but it still needs to be taken care off and no, the w124 200d haven't got to achieve 1.000.000 without oil change.😂
