  • I finally have the Logics and PSI wired up and running. Plus servos controlling the Holo-projector and control of the Dome rotation. In this video I look at wiring all this up and re assembling the Dome for testing.

Great update Aaron! It was great meeting you last weekend. I sent you a message on Facebook regarding the foot shells.

Thanks Andrew, good to meet you there as well. Was your FB message the one I replied to re: the waterjet files?

I've been waiting for this episode :) Thanks for sharing your skills. I just started my build with the Xbox 360 as well. Looking forward to seeing your next installment.

@MakerDan Thank you. I think the XBox controller is one of the easiest ways to get going. It seems to have pretty good range and seems to be a bit more reliable than some of the other things I have tried like BT and RF. Did you use a Mega ADK or a USB shield (I'm assuming you are using Arduino but I could be wrong there). Thanks very much for watching and for your comments.

I'm using an Arduino Mega with a USB Host shield. Actually I just designed a 3D printed mount for the Mega that also holds a screw terminal shield as well as the host shield. With the screw terminal board you have full access to all of the pins on the Mega using screw terminals. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you a photo. I am just soldering it together now to make sure it all fits together okay. If you want an STL of the file I can send it to you.

The screw terminals are a great idea. I've seen them before, but never really thought of using it til your comment. Does yours have a prototyping area on it as well? I think I will oder one up myself. Thanks

I like how you have done your dome. I have an Arduino Uno inside my dome that runs my lights and a separate battery too. It means I can take his dome off at any time without having to unhook any electronics...plus the lights stay on, which is what happened when R4-P17 gets his head ripped off in RotS...if paused on the right frame. Haha

Ha! That's a Great Point. I'm considering switching to a separate battery as well but for the time being I have 12v coming up through the slip-ring. There will be Data coming through there as well but I'm experimenting with RF for that anyway. Going with RF and a battery would mean I could remove the dome and still communicate a short distance with the body... Hmmm

Great videos! Was wondering what colour is the main body? Cheers

Thanks so much! The body is painted with Smoke Gray from Krylon.
