    Its not a coil split. When it is engaged the tone isn't active, when you pull the knob up it adds it to the circuit.

      He is absolutely right! The tone knob is a bypass! NOT a coil split! Misha has done like 5+ videos about it! That’s where the 5 way blade switch comes in. ALSO...please, someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I swear that in the videos Misha has put out about this guitar, I thought he said that although he uses Bare Knuckle pickups, it would inflate the price of the guitar extremely, so his signature model comes off the shelf with Jackson pickups designed to emulate the Bare Knuckles, but due to cost, the guitar would NOT come right off the shelf with Bare Knuckles in it! PLEASE, someone correct me if I’m wrong....but even if I am wrong, it is more then apparent that this dude got this guitar, and did absolutely 0 research on what he is playing! I got that it’s a review, and u did give your honest opinion, but Misha has put out multiple videos about that tone knob bypass! That was just plain lazy on ur part! And if I am correct about the pickups, that goes to show u should have just played it and said what u thought! It’s not right to tell ppl incorrect info on something, unless u state that u don’t know, as I did in this comment with the pickups! Do ur homework man! Don’t just guess and give false info!

    Good review. You give it a fair shake, and I can attest my GC experiences being on par with yours. Dried out fretboards, shot strings, dirty overall condition. Not a bad set of pickups but I felt like it wasn’t a supreme value. Adequate for the price point but barely. Rather have any Schecter. I will say, my JS series Jackson LP (cheap) has a great neck and setup for a budget guitar and I enjoy it greatly.

    Hey Arnold, I’d really love to see a short series of you reviewing the best 6, 7, and 8 string guitars you can find in the sub $800 range.
    It’s hard to get top-notch quality in that price range, but it’s still surprising what you can get there.
    Since you pay so much attention to detail, I’d like to see what you could find satisfying in that range, all things considered.
    Me personally, I would vouch for some of the squires for a 6 string, but I’d love to see your picks.

    You aren’t spoiled by playing expensive instruments. This guitar falls short. While it isn’t an expensive guitar, it’s still a mid tier instrument. For $900 I would expect their to be no dead spots. If you want to cut costs then put non locking grovers and a properly cut nut on the instrument. Locking tuners makes changing strings easier, but from my experience doesn’t really do a ton for stability since tension is supposed to lock at the nut anyway. The pickups are alright for being BKP clones. But for$900 this just fell short.

    Nice to see you again, Arnold! I like the beer fridge in the studio. All manner of mind-alteration should be handy --just like pedal effects for a guitarist. I recommend you try out the ESP LTD MH-1000ET; it's the best guitar I've ever used. The Misha Juggernaut from Jackson has had QC problems and/or ebony fretboard problems. I think this Jackson guitar COULD be a very nice guitar, but the QC problems and electronics need to go. Nice neck geometry, poor choice in the electronics and switches. Another guitar to consider checking out: The AZ series from Ibanez --thicker neck, interesting electronics, and a bridge that has more range without a locking system.

I never really liked any of the made in Indonesia Jackson Guitars. They feel so incomplete and very cheap. The only decent made in Indonesia Jackson I played was Gus G's guitar at namm. This might sound a bit harsh but I would really stay away from the made in Indonesia Jacksons and save up for a USA one. Keep it up man. I really like these videos

    I have an Indonesian 2017 Jackson pro king V that is a killer guitar. Resonant, stays in tune. Handles alternate tunings well. Just a great guitar. Now on the other hand I also HAD (had being the key word) an indonesian 2017 Jackson pro soloist that was not resonant. Only stayed in tune as long as you played 9's in standard tuning as the floyd was finniacy (and I know my way around a floyd). I'd put 10's on it or try an alt tuning and set it up perfectly with stretched strings and level bridge.....and the floyd would never come all the way back to pitch on G B or highE. Set it back up with 9's in standard and it worked flawlessly. It was the damndest thing. It would drive me mad.
    Moral of the story, the jackson pro series is hit or miss. I bought the soloist after having such a great experience with the pro King V that I felt it a no brainer. Of course it was worth the money I thought. Well I kept it a year, barely played it, and lost $300 plus reverb fees on resale.
    Would I recommend an Indonesian Pro series guitar? Only if you can sit down with it and really determine if it is a hit or a miss before you buy it.

  • @JamieChorley
    @JamieChorley 5 лет назад +4

    To be honest, these guitars look like they should be part of the budget JS series. The 2019 model with the roasted neck does look quite a bit nicer, but for like £200 less you could grab a RGA742FM-DEF which is fairly comparable with arguably a nicer finish. You're paying quite the premium on these versus the JS, for not a great lot extra with these guitars.

    • @eatmysalt291
      @eatmysalt291 5 лет назад +1

      Jamie Chorley Exactly why I picked up a JS 32-7. So far all I’ve done is it is had the nut replaced and the pot knobs swapped for gold ones. Pick up swap, tuner keys, and a bridge change and I’ll have a better instrument that’s built to my specs. For much cheaper I might add.

    • @JamieChorley
      @JamieChorley 5 лет назад +2

      @@eatmysalt291 Yeah when you realise that you can pick up a JS 7, and upgrade to a set of hipshot tuners and a bridge, and still spend less than it costs for one of the Mischa sigs (at least in the UK), it doesn't make a great lot of sense. I think I'd have less of a gripe with these guitars if they didn't come with such utterly dull finishes.

      THIS! I also tried the grey 6 string and I couldnt believe how flimsy it felt even set up. It sounded decent but it just felt like a cheap import, even worse than an iron label (which is saying something)

  •  5 лет назад +1

    Arnold, i got the same guitar, and when i turn the volume knob all the way down, it just get a 100% mute, the plastic of my selector does'nt get off like your HT7, you must check out others like that one before make any judgement, i just sayin' bro, sometimes you just make some opinions like all the guitars like that one that you're testing are the same, but not, and the push/pull knob it's just for activate the tone knob, just that, the only thing that i agree its the fret work, sometimes the first string gets stuck on the fret 24, and that shit that comes out from the back haha, but it can be fix with super glue lol

    On my Pro Series Dinky, they advertise a "quilt maple top," but based on what I can see I'm 90 percent sure it's a quilt veneer on a plain maple cap. I wouldn't be surprised if that's also what's going on with the flame "top" on the Juggernaut.

    • @senspartech3533
      @senspartech3533 5 лет назад +2

      Just for info's sake:
      A "flame/quilt maple veneer" is still absolutely considered a "top." Only difference will be the thickness, but its still the same wood, etc. Its relevant because some guitars use *photos* of wood, like "fotoflame." It can still look nice enough, but is no longer an actual wood top. Technically, I suppose things like fotoflame are still "tops" though.
      Thicker slabs may be preferred by some, but I think its also good to mention that veneer can enable some really cool laminations.

    • @BenRobsonMusic
      @BenRobsonMusic 5 лет назад +2

      @@senspartech3533 I've seen some veneers that look cooler than "legit" thick tops. I don't really buy into the whole tonewood thing, so I honestly don't care about whether a top is a veneer or not. If it looks nice, it's good enough for me!

    • @senspartech3533
      @senspartech3533 5 лет назад

      @@BenRobsonMusic Im a lot the same.. Actually, I feel like when you are cutting thinner pieces from the maple, you get more chances to get those REALLY spectacular grains.
      Thats my biggest issue with things like "fotoflame." At first glance, they look great.. but then ya notice they have no movement, no chatoyance at all.
      I do "buy" into tone woods though :P While I believe its a much smaller factor, I do think different woods impart subtle changes in how the string vibrates and microphonics of the pups. I see this possibility in things like the anchor points & contact points (frets) to refractions & reflections from the woods general resonation. The microphonics of the pickups alone can introduce a lot of interesting things into the signal, for better or worse. It can be pretty cool capturing vocals through the pickups. Just slap something like your phone speaker up to the pup (directly from the front or from behind the body, for different effects), and record the output on the cab. Can get some very cool things going there!
      While I do think these things generally pale in comparison to something like the pickups.. Building a guitar is a game of massively diminishing returns past a certain point anyway. I think all the little things can add up to equal that "ineffable" excellence that some instruments out there have, at any price point.

    Push pull is a tone bypass. Fit and finish on mine was good, it does go out of tune but not wildly. Pickups are pretty garbage. I got mine on sale for $450 (6 string in gray). Great for that price but no way I would spend 800-900 for it.

      Exactly what Nick said. I have actually had ooooookay luck with them in a recording situation where I am expected to multitrack and play tight. They are really pretty damn good for that because they are tons and tons of articulation. But live, at a band practice, recording lead lines where you better get great output on just that one take because you are NOT doubling? In those instances they just fall short. Except for Ragnaroks and Irish Tours. I actually liked those ones a lot. But Nailbombs, War Pigs, Juggs, Cold Sweat, Emerald, Aristides customs, Rebel Yells, Aftermaths, Painkillers, and Trilogy Suites all sounded meh to me.

  • @alextimo

    $900? Where is that money going, outside of the Misha Mansoor name and lining Jackson's pockets?
    I can't help but compare it to the Schecter Hellraiser C-7 which is only $50 more but comes with EMG active pickups w/ coil split, set-neck, mahogany body, dual volume controls that actually work, a fretboard with no dead spots, nicely rolled edges, and a great satin finish, usable knobs, a pickup selector switch that doesn't fall off, and IMO looks way better with binding and inlays.
    I get that Jackson is a bigger brand, and I like that even their entry-level guitars have a nice, low-profile neck joint (one area where Scheter are woefully behind), but I just don't understand how Schecter can deliver so much more guitar for about the same price and how Jackson can have such poor QC on a $900 guitar.

    its fuckin satan playing for anthrax in 1991, and only spent $320 on the axe , $100 on th e black winter and did a bit of fret polishing and it makes me get the chilly willys . run it through my dsl 100 and 1960b cab at 75watts , just rediculous.

    May be unpopular opinion, but 75% of all import Jacksons I've picked up for a while have been dogshit and had all those issues. I literally saw one $500 price point model hanging on the wall at a guitar store with the binding coming unglued from the neck. Whatever factory they are using over there is really slacking

      I agree I had my Jackson RR made in the mid. 90's which took Jackson two years to make and it plays like a soloist, slick, and fast. From the 80's to late 90's was the best years for American made guitars by Jackson. Gibson best guitars were made Kalamazoo Michigan where Heritage Guitars is now. I'm from Michigan and when Gibson left I vowed to never buy anything from Gibson and i haven't. If you like the old Gibson check out Heritage Guitars still making guitars by hand

      To his credit, the Jackson USA models of his that’s i’ve gotten my mitts on have been pretty killer.
      There’s also a lot to consider that goes into being a signature artist with a guitar brand these days. A lot of these guys have signature gear because they get paid to, and maybe Jackson was cutting him a better deal than Mayones could. Considering how little the vast majority of “pro musicians” make - even of his stature - i say good for him. It is way tougher out there than a lot of people think.
