    The kumquat skin is COMPLETELY edible! We the Chinese usually preserve them in sugar syrups or salt and make tea with them to soothe coughs!

    We buy kumquats and then candy them for salads!!! They stay good for a long time that way, and they're a nice sweet/savory addition to salads or desserts or even just tea ! :)

    My family has a couple Kumquat trees and for me the skin has a really nice sweet skin and the flesh is quite sour like a lemon but a bit more so.

    Oh, we have these often here in Baku, they're plenty during summer. They definetly have more citrusy flavor than an orange and is a bit more bitter. I'd say, it's a pretty nice blend between a tangerine and a lime:)

    I make a kumquat caramel what I do is boil the kumquats with some sugar till they are very soft then blitz them in the blender and make a caramel and add that to the kumquat purée but add it gradually

    U can make a condiment out of kumquats by slicing em thinly like cut it into rings (not too thin or not too thick) then heat up a pan then add sugar and water and ratio should be 2 sugar and 1/ 1 2 part water then let it boil and dissolve then add in red pepper flakes along with whole sichuan peppercorns and rice vinegar then add in ur sliced kumquats and cook until its a little soft and the liquid is a tad bit syrupy.

    A lot of the citrus fruits have a lot of good minerals and nutrients in the skin in the pithe. Take a whole lemon cut up take the seeds out put in a blender with frozen blueberries and some water mix it up and it makes a really good tonic.

    Kumquat taste amazing try using it in your recipes it’s very soft and juicy when cooked with meats and even by itself boiled.

    As far as I know it is mostly used to make alcoholic drinks or spoon sweets in Greece we also make ouzo out of it

    The skin is the best part! All the essential oils and taste are in there (sugar also). The inside is mostly acid, seeds and membrane.

    Skin is edible!!! I bite a whole one in half, suck the seeds out, spit them put, then pop the halves like candy. The tart skin and super sweet inside make a really nice combo.

    There is an island here in Greece named Corfu, this island makes the best kumquat in the world also here in Greece kumquat is used to make a very tasty drink

    Here in Greece we eat the kumquat whole,of course we wash it first.The skin is sweet and the inside is kinda bitter like a lemon. That's why in almost every sweet we make with kumquat,we take only the peel and make it kinda like a syrup

    At my dads work they had the trees. I personally didn't like it because it was the yellow type, which tasted more like lemon 🍋, anyway if u blend it whole then drain the pulp and seed it becomes a nice juice with the perfect refreshing taste. Just make sure to add sugar

    my family has had a kumquat tree since i was a kid and the skin is really sweet and fragrant (not bitter though) but the inside is really sour so we eat the whole thing because the sweetness counters the sourness

    In Greece we eat candied Kumquat. It's basically the same but with a layer of caramel and its taste is out of this world!!!

    it's not just a mini orange - it's a REVERSE mini orange. the skin is sweet, and the flesh sour and tart. you should eat them by putting a whole one in your mouth! :) that's how it's done in spain anyway, altho the kumquats we have there are more oval in shape and a bit smaller, usually

    In my old school in Israel, further back in the school in a forgotten trail, there were a few of those kumquat trees, you could eat them and I tried a few! The other kids just threw them, so you would see dried up exploded kumquats on the floor because of the hot sun that shined on the trail at ALL TIMES.

    Alligators love to eat Kumquats! Yes, they do eat certain fruits, and will process them similar to a herbivore, as even the seeds can last through their stomach acid.

    I grow some kumquats, and what my family does is either eat them with the skin like a cherry tomato (we don’t eat the seeds), since it’s sour and the skin sort of curves the sourness. Or: we take out the seeds and drop it into hot water with rock sugar or honey to make a drink!

    You eat it all together as it is . You can make it marmalade, you can make it liquor (it is pretty popular here in Greece).

    They grew in my neighborhood growing up and as kids we would just pick them and spit out the seeds. And yes, the texture of the skin makes you wanna eat it but it is bitter.
