- After restarting from Windows 10 Updates you may be asked for a PIN. If you can’t remember or don’t know your PIN, here are instructions how to get back into W10 with your account password.
The 20H2 update forces some users to sign-in with a PIN. This video explains how to regain access to your Windows account and fix the forgotten PIN.
If the "I forgot PIN" options don't work for any reason, this method will let you back in to your account.

I literally screamed when it ask me for a PIN, however it gave me an option to use my password & I’m now signed back into my Laptop.

“We ran into a problem and won’t be able to uninstall the latest feature update of Windows. Try resetting your PC instead (Troubleshoot > Reset this PC).”
Then, after clicking ‘Reset this PC’ I now have:
“There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made.”

Hi, I have tried your method a good few times and it won't let me in, my account name comes up and it asks for a password. I just can't remember the password so I can't get into system restore, DAMN. I know this is advice is a couple of years.

Hey there, I have an issue, yesterday I only had the pin option which I used your insurrections, the remove feature did not work, but I recovered from a previous version. This got me in, I then removed the pin. I could then login with my password. Come to switch on my computer today and all I have is my name and sign in . Buy I click it and it stays just a moment, then loops back to 'sign in'. I cannot do anything else.
I have tried repeating your method, I cannot remove update feature and the recover previous version now does not work. Some clash with avg antivirus error 🤔

It was working until the point to where it said 'We ran into a problem trying to uninstall the latest feature update.' And so I tried to reset my PC. Instead, it said 'There was a problem resetting your PC.' So basically, there's no way I can get back in.
Are you able to get into Safe Mode via Startup Settings in the recovery console? You may have to run a clean install. You'll need a USB drive and access to another computer. Run a Google search for "windows media creation tool". Backup important files first though.

clicked om the uninstall latest feature button but it says it is unable to do so so i am restting the pc
i've uninstalled the update and got back in without the pin, but after i remove the pin and get to the part where i have to reboot i have to 'update and shut down'. will this install the update again or is it ok to just continue and restart even if it says it will update?
Once you have removed the PIN, add a new one, but this time you know it. So if it does revert to asking for PIN only... you simply enter it to gain access. This glitch caused real problems for people who had never created a PIN and only ever used password to login.
@@Computroon yes, i've gotten to the part of the tutorial where you ask to remove the pin. but then you say we must restart the computer, when i go to restart my computer it says i have to update and restart so idk if this is the update i just uninstalled which caused this problem in the first place or for a different update. what should i do?
As soon as you remove the PIN, you should get the option to Add PIN. If you go ahead and do that, you can install updates knowing that if it asks for a PIN again, you know what it is. Hope this helps.
Hi! It’s working up until the uninstall latest feature bit. It’s says it ran into a problem and to reset the PC instead. Is there a way to fix this or do I have to reset it?
Reset is an option and it will give you the choice to keep all your files. Installed programs and saved browser passwords will be lost though. Have you tried two of the other options within the recovery console - System Restore & Startup Repair. Might also be worth trying Startup Settings and when it comes around press number 4 key for Safe Mode. If you can get Safe Mode to load, from there you should be able to edit PIN. Good luck.

Not Just you Bob Also My Brothers PC Don’t Worry There Is A Way 1. Click The Power Icon 2. Hold The shift key on the keyboard 3. While Holding The Shift key click on restart 4. Stop holding the shift key when you see a black screen 5. Click troubleshoot 6. Click Reset this PC ( WARNING if you have all your Data in a external hard drive then your files is safe WARNING ) 7. Click On Remove everything 8. Click fully clean the drive 9. Click reset this should take some hours When it’s finished you will get a setup menu set it up yourself and that’s it hope it helped!
@@ssami121212 Thanks for the reply. It tried those steps and it would not let me complete the reset. Ultimately I had to get a flash drive from HP and reinstall the operating system.
Bob you can download the installation media free by Googling "Windows Media Creation Tool". You'll need a USB stick and it'll have to be downloaded on another system, but should save the expense or ordering recovery media from the manufacturer. Boot to the USB and choose "Repair" rather than "Install".

Hi Carlos. No this does not mean your laptop has been hacked. This is caused by a glitch within a Windows Update that assumes that you have a PIN.

Hi @ Quency Gaile. Couple of things to try. Firstly, once you have typed in the password, click and hold the little eye icon along from the password bullet points. This will reveal what you have just typed. Just in case your Caps Lock or Num Lock is on or off.
Secondly. If you have no success, you can change your Microsoft password on by using another device account.microsoft.com/ Within there look for Security and change from in there.

Hey mate, followed your steps, right up to uninstall latest feature. After that it says, 'we ran into a problem and won't be able to uninstall the latest feature etc...'. I've reset my laptop twice. Tried the 'I forgot my pin' option a few times and still nothing.
How do I go past the uninstall latest feature stage when we run into an issue.

Hi. Sounds like you might be better with a clean install, or at least run the install repair from USB. If you have access to another computer, go to Google and search for "windows media creation tool". Create media onto a USB stick and boot your computer into that to run either a system repair or clean install.

HI Mark, on the screen where it said Uninstall Updates were there 2 options being "latest quality update" & "latest feature update". If so have you tried both?

Force close (hold power button until it kills the power). Switch on and repeat (kill power before Windows starts loading). The 3rd time you switch on, it will say "Please wait" and go into recovery mode.

If the computer is connected to the internet, it should be your current password. If it's offline, try an old password that you used a while ago. You should be able to change your Microsoft password on another device. Good luck with that hopefully that lets you back in.
