I wish we had some of these pedals back in the 80s when I was in high school. It is truly awesome that you don’t even have to spend thousands on an amp anymore, because everything can be boiled down to a pedal.
Pete I understand why you've toured so much with these folks you toured with. It seems like you've played with a lot of band with numerous style, you demo plying shows a lot of creativity and I wish you all the success in all your pursuits.
Ye ok you know what? We all should just buy a Pete Thorn. Not some friedman or headrush or whatever. Some company has to produce Pete Thorns. Because what the hell, you are too awesome and talented. Everything you review sounds great. So probably, for us normal people, the only way to sound like this is to get a Pete Thorn and let him play... Ah, by the way, great demo! Mr. Friedman always builds top class gear.
lmao.. "Hey everyone, come get your very own Pete Thorn this Black Friday ! Don't pay $1,000,000, don't even pay $500,000 ! He can be yours this Black Friday for just $99.95. What are you waiting for ? Just follow the link in the description to get your Pete today. Hurry, only while stocks last".
I would like to see a pete thorn fly rig type pedal board with all of pete's favorite clean, distortion, overdrive and delay, reverb effects all in one unit, and sell for about $500 or less!
always a joy listening to your "lil diddies" when you demo a pedal... ty Pete... awsome sounding as always.... . i think im springin for this one... love the versatility and the tone is sweet ... this BE-OD and a Seymour Duncan Power Stage 200 and ill never have to lug an amp around again... peace...
Just picked this pedal up today. It's going to replace my suhr eclipse which I loved. The be od deluxe feels and sounds way more amp like. Has a ton of volume and gain on tap and killer sustain! The 3 position tight switch and presence and eq controls for each channel are great. Way more tonal possibilities! Killer amp like pedal!
How about the noise? I've been thinking about getting a revv g3/g4 or this beod deluxe, the two channels in one pedal and the presence knob are a big plus for me.
I really wish duel channel pedals like this had a remote jack to use with switchers like the Bogner Ecstasy pedals. I’ve just ordered the Suhr Eclipse over this because of the remote switching ability.
I love seeing and hearing your reviews not only because your tracks are always like I'm hearing a new song release, but also because you use different guitars (Les Paul, Tele, etc) to showcase the gear. The Danelectro was a cool surprise! Thanks Pete.
I just bought the original BE pedal, this one seemed like it's going a bit overboard. However, after playing the original, I found myself using it as the heart of my high gain sound. I'll probably need to get one of these to have the lead/rhythm functionality. Great work to Dave Friedman!
The red channel is 80s high gain as you'd expect but I especially like the blue channel. If you crank it way down you can get a Cream type really bluesy sound.
Jesus Christ why isn't Pete in the list of greats? No guitar players that I talk to even know who he is and that's a damn shame because the man is not only a tone God, but an amazing player as well.
He's on my list.... Seems every product reviewer either does single-coil jazz/blues , or just shreds. Pete is the best at middle of the road versatility. My go-to product reviewer
The first one I had some noise issues due to the gain amount and went back to my old reliable Riot Reloaded. I think I'll take a chance on this new one. Thanks Pete!
Pete....awesome review! I finally bought the pedal thanks to your video. Best review for this Friedman OD. You really want to show hot it works, and you dial everything with the pedal in front of my face. I like that!!! It is a killer pedal with a huge range, you can cover a lot of styles. Amazing, sounds...just incredible. It is worth pointing out that you can also limit the maximum gain of each channel, in case, for example, that you wanted only different in Eq. and volume between channels. Again, great review! thanks
I finally got around to order one. Given it’s a money’s tight era but what the hell I need this pedal. Great video. You’re always eloquent on your videos. Awesome! 👍🏽
I suppose that the three-pos tight switch could be enough, but for me the tight knob on the original BE-OD was a major selling point. I cannot imagine choosing this over the original - I'd be more likely to buy two BE-ODs.
Just run a clean boost into it and ya pretty much got the second chanel . I have the deluxe and the lower channel.sounds killer when I put a boost in front of this pedal
I was so impressed on yesterday's LiveStream where you talked about creating these tunes with purpose and not just noodling mindlessly over the chord progression you create like so many other musicians do. It is plainly obvious how much care you put into these creations and your love for what you do. Thanks for your knowledge and these amazing demos! Quick question. How would you describe the gain on this pedal vs the Suhr Eclipse? I have the Eclipse and love it! Thoughts?
Fantastic job, Pete... though that's par for the course. :-) The pedal sounds great, too, and I was impressed with how it handled the different guitars you put into it... sounded great on all of them.
Late to the party. One of these arriving tomorrow. Fantastic review. Must admit, one of the first pedals of the last half dozen where Andy (from Reverb) wasn't t a deciding factor. 😉
Best intro 'demo' for any pedal video...can we get that in a spotify link?? I didn't even need to watch the rest to want this pedal (but did anyway). Sounds great. And whatever the mix/master settings are for that demo are sweet.
It's funny how it seems most of the comments on here are from people who are starstruck and worrying about dudes playing and his tune rather than the sound of the pedal that's being demoed.
The new gear just comes out way too fast for junkies like me. I gotta stop watching vids and looking at magazines before I go into the poor house. Great video, as always, Pete!
This pedal seems awesome. I got the small box pedal for Christmas but I’m finding it’s not producing quite as much gain as I like for certain things. It has a great overall tone though. This BE OD deluxe seems like a better fit for what I’m looking for. I kind of like that slash AFD tone, a bit more gain than what the small box is doing. Do you think this would be a nether choice ?
This or the Suhr Eclipse? Both sound amazing, but I can’t decide which I like more lol I like Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, GnR, Boston, James Gang, Jethro Tull, Disturbed, Pearl Jam, etc.
Bought one of these 'previously enjoyed' based on this review. I am feeding a killer old non-master 1973 Marshall into a Greenback loaded 4x12. This Marshall is capable of almost 'fenderish' good cleans - add a touch of verb and chorus, and its a damn good clean sound. Then with 2 entirely different drives from the BE OD Deluxe, it really is a true, no BS 3-channel amp. Thank you for yet another ultra-cool, ultra-helpful demonstration / review!!!!
Hi Pete, You mentioned running a 'guitar loop' though the rig to tweak your settings? What exactly did you mean and how do you create that and run it through your rig? My main amp is an 83 JCM800 4010 and I'm kind of squirrely about running anything other than a guitar through it. So how does the 'guitar loop' idea work? Thanks!
Nice demo! Alot of the others that I've heard sound a bit muddy. Yours sounds nice. Did you get the impression of lots of low frequently in the circuit?
So what settings should your actual amp head settings be on when using this pedal? I tried to use it & almost blew my speaker out cause I guess I had the settings on my head wrong!
A question. I am an old guy, so I have to front load everything. I just have to. I feel strange using an effects loop. Anyway, I have noticed to my chagrin that when I use a delicate pedal, like the Oceans 11, for example, and I precede it with power, like the BE-OD or Dark Side, the effects of the reverb unit are hard to hear, and the presence of the overdrives also fades. Any suggestions?
W_Sindarius Learn to use the effects loop...put all your delays reverb chorus there, on the front of the amp put od’s wah’s flangers...sounds better that way
Impossibly good tone played by a world class guitarist.. But, am I the only one who was wishing the right switch was a boost switch? Such great tone, why would I want to bypass it!?! Lol!
Hey Pete, did you do any post EQ processing to the Friedman tracks? My recorded tracks have more mid range (not a bad thing) but I had to cut some mids to make it sounded stellar. Amazing pedal I must say, no bad tones coming out over here. Keep the great content coming!
Peter I don't know what the thing you played at the start was but if it was something you just did for the demo I would develop it into a song, very 70's British Pop Rock.
Pete Thorn is an absolute national treasure. Rare combination of humble, credible and approachable. Truly the example musician.
Pete Thorn’s videos have cost me so much money.
😆 this Thorn guy gives me terrible G.A.S. I can only watch Pete Thorn in limited amounts , my bank manager says so.
I wish we had some of these pedals back in the 80s when I was in high school. It is truly awesome that you don’t even have to spend thousands on an amp anymore, because everything can be boiled down to a pedal.
The tight switch is really interesting. The mid potentiometer is also a great upgrade.
Bought a Bogner La Grange after Pete's demo. Now I'm just here FOR DA RIFFZ
Why do you only have 174k subs? You deserve more dude..
Thanks! Please share the vids, every bit helps!
234K now as of Feb 2022 😄

hell i'd buy one! lol!
Best comment ever
I’m gonna ask Santa for a Pete Thorn deluxe!
This pedal can go from brown sound to GnR. What an absolute dream to have. Gonna save up for this after I'm done building my board.
Friedman must take this video as Official Demo for this pedal. Very nice demo and nice playing 💕
Man, i want to listen a song like that all day long! Release it!
always a joy listening to your "lil diddies" when you demo a pedal... ty Pete... awsome sounding as always.... . i think im springin for this one... love the versatility and the tone is sweet ... this BE-OD and a Seymour Duncan Power Stage 200 and ill never have to lug an amp around again... peace...
I have bought BEOD because of you!! And it is the best purchase I have ever made!
Always good playing and representation of the gear.
Just picked this pedal up today. It's going to replace my suhr eclipse which I loved. The be od deluxe feels and sounds way more amp like. Has a ton of volume and gain on tap and killer sustain! @@alxdrksoul not too noisy. I had the g3 too. The revv was super noisy. The be of deluxe is way more versatile, less noisy and sounds better
Bought it after watching this. Great demo and it is a awesome pedal.
I really wish duel channel pedals like this had a remote jack to use with switchers like the Bogner Ecstasy pedals. I’ve just ordered the Suhr Eclipse over this because of the remote switching ability.
Purplehaze4291 my thought entirely. I have the eclipse mostly for the same reason
Beautiful tune Pete thorn and a great sounding effect
Always inspirational, never disappointing. Nicely done and much thanks Pete!
Ending doubled lick was pure gold!
I love seeing and hearing your reviews not only because your tracks are always like I'm hearing a new song release, but also because you use different guitars (Les Paul, Tele, etc) to showcase the gear. The Danelectro was a cool surprise! Thanks Pete.
Finally my bugera v5 will slay

Super fun watching these demos after just ordering the pedal. 😎
Thanks for your player friendly reviews Pete. Always on point and with a consistency that allows me to compare with confidence. Kudos!
I ordered mine this morning. I should have it tomorrow. Can’t wait.
The red channel is 80s high gain as you'd expect but I especially like the blue channel. If you crank it way down you can get a Cream type really bluesy sound.
As ever, cool review. Thanks for signing your CD for me at the Peach Guitar event. Sounds great
My pleasure nice to meet ya Phil!
What can I say Pete... That pedal is amazing. Love the blue channel sound... But once again that track was the star of the show!!!!!
It would be sweeter if there were separate ins and outs for both channels, that way I could use my loop switcher presets to control the pedal.
I like it being 2 channels. I wish they would add a noise gate like the EVH MXR
Is it a noisy pedal??? I wish more reviews would let us hear what pedals sound like when they're on without any noise gate.
Everything I've ever seen of you is just as impressive as this video, thank you for everything :-)
Funtastic track, Pete! The BE-OD suits you well.
Plus he's just an overall great, humble human being.
The first one I had some noise issues due to the gain amount and went back to my old reliable Riot Reloaded. I think I'll take a chance on this new one. Thanks Pete!
Dang!!! This demo song is 🔥🔥🔥!!!! Probably my favorite song you’ve done to date! Cool pedal too, lol!
Always killer tones. Well done Pete!
4:46 Planet Telex chords!

That tap+bend at 0:40 was stupid cool. Nice track!
A real big player that Mr. Thorn! 😎🤘🏼👍🏼
Great demo Pete!! Love that jam!
Oh boy. Gas for this is bad. Definitely on the purchase list. I know it's a few years old, but great video! Thanks Pete.
Esse pedal eh o sonho de consumo de mta gente. Inclusive eu. Kkk
Abraços e bends

Damn, i watched your BE-OD review and I bought it, and now Dave Friedman creates de deluxe version .-.

Thanks! It’s sort of similar to the Eclipse I’d say. In features and amount of gain. Just a different sound somewhat
Fantastic job, Pete... though that's par for the course. :-)
The pedal sounds great, too, and I was impressed with how it handled the different guitars you put into it... sounded great on all of them.
intro was a killer ! :)
Always my favorite reviews!!!!
Late to the party. One of these arriving tomorrow.
Fantastic review.
Must admit, one of the first pedals of the last half dozen where Andy (from Reverb) wasn't t

This and a Duncan Powerstage 170,,,heavenly combo! ;)
Best intro 'demo' for any pedal video...can we get that in a spotify link?? I didn't even need to watch the rest to want this pedal (but did anyway). Sounds great. And whatever the mix/master settings are for that demo are sweet.
Great demo Pete😀😀😀. Much appreciated 😀
Great demo again Pete, I think this might be as popular as your BEOD one.
That is a great riff you come up with, super catchy! Great work 👍🏻
Hope that track is on an album sometime soon !
Yay, Blackie is back !!
It's funny how it seems most of the comments on here are from people who are starstruck and worrying about dudes playing and his tune rather than the sound of the pedal that's being demoed.
KILLER TRACK!
408,000 views on the original BEOD; 208,00 views from me to rewatch the frigging amazing song the video featured..........
Incredible, as usual. Thank you.
The quality of your videos is really over the moon. I dig your style of playing! Many Greetings and all the best from Germany!
Thanks!
Man! You rock Pete!
very impressive pedal
Pete
I just bought the regular beod 2 weeks back from Andertons along with Polara, and now 😩
The new gear just comes out way too fast for junkies like me. I gotta stop watching vids and looking at magazines before I go into the poor house. Great video, as always, Pete!
This pedal seems awesome. I got the small box pedal for Christmas but I’m finding it’s not producing quite as much gain as I like for certain things. It has a great overall tone though. I like Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, GnR, Boston, James Gang, Jethro Tull, Disturbed, Pearl Jam, etc.
Can I use this as an “amp in a box” Straight into my power amp/speaker cabinet?
Pete Thorn the man who could play a string on a piece of wood with two nails and sound good.
Was that an intentional reference to It Might Get Loud?
That into demo song! Damn!!
Hi Jason...my friend...have you watched Pete's 'ABASI PATHOS' video yet...IT MAJORLY ROCKS!!! 💗💗💗
Wow! NEED one of these!!
Another smokin demo Pete!
There is no point on lugging the big stacks anymore…amazing demo as usual Pete
What do you think about this vs the MXR EVH 5150? Or the DS pedal?
Also, the solo gets stuck in my head especially the part right at 0:33
Hi all. Can the beod dlx cop some low gain jtm45 esque tones? Somewhat similar to the box of rock/charlie brown and the likes?
Thanks a lot!
yes you can play !
Bought one of these 'previously enjoyed' based on this review. I am feeding a killer old non-master 1973 Marshall into a Greenback loaded 4x12. A very Stray Cats feel! Awesome as always!
Thank you 🙏 Pete

Intro sounds like typical fun japanese rock song to my ears.. what kind of music is that Pete?
I dunno it just kinda happens, ha!
The original name was funnier, but this pedal sounds great. I liked the song a lot too. Thanks Pete!
Could this be used as a pre amp into say a two notes cab with IRs for recording
Thanks Pete I bought it
Cool Playing 👍
Nice demo! Alot of the others that I've heard sound a bit muddy. Yours sounds nice.

Can you do another 80’s tones demo for this pedal like the first BE-OD you did!
Hey Pete, did you do any post EQ processing to the Friedman tracks? My recorded tracks have more mid range (not a bad thing) but I had to cut some mids to make it sounded stellar. Amazing pedal I must say, no bad tones coming out over here. Keep the great content coming!
WOW...that was sooo amazing...you rock my world, Pete!!!!! 💗💗💗
Please demo some Mesa Boogie stuff! Maybe it’s not you’re type of gear but I wanna know you’re input on it.
Man I wish Dave had included an external footswitch control for the channel switch. I would love to incorporate this in my Mastermind PBC switcher.
Peter I don't know what the thing you played at the start was but if it was something you just did for the demo I would develop it into a song, very 70's British Pop Rock.
Get your 90s on. :D
