Just to confirm that communication errors between camera and lens can be easily sorted when upgrading the firmware in the lens which I hadn't done at the time of filming the video.

I own this lens since a few months now, and like you, I have the same issue with the lens hood ;-) But yes, for the price you pay, this lens is a no brainer even without stabilisation. Although filming on a tripod or gimbal will help.

Nice review Hugh, presumably an RF lens would still be superior for video thanks to IBIS but for stationary stuff looks great

Cheers Marcus. This lens is RF mount. Yeah, the native Canon lenses that have stabilisation work great as they work in conjunction with the cameras own stabilisation.

Class video, I was shocked when you said Viltrox lens lol I never knew about that I have one of their adapters but that’s it. Salthill looking like a Christopher Nolan film right now very gloomy haha still nice looking

Yeah, I was familiar with the adapters alright but had no idea they had lenses. I guess it’s a new thing for them. Not a bad little lens. Lmfao at the Christopher Nolan ref. That bleak cinematic look! Thanks man!
