Can I just say that when I went to Kenya on a short term trip, the guy who drove me around for 3 weeks ended up becoming my husband... just saying. lol. I'm feeling a vibe.
Eei sharp shooter 😂
Her driver is a cutie too... great story!
Your life is a whole RomCom.
Lucky lady. ❤
Blessings to you and yours.
Ayye I wish that for her....😍
Thats a cool story
Funerals in Nigeria are like this when the dead is an old person cause then it is a celebration of a life well lived (with fulfilled dreams and all) but the immediate family like the children have their grieving time. when the dead is a young person it is usually more solemn with no party thereafter, cause it is a general belief that the old should not bury the young. I love your hair Seun. You're such an angel. love love you.
Thank you!!!!❤️ And, yes, exactly!
So true, my Grandmother funeral was 4 days funeral with a week celebration 🍾. I never been to funeral like that in America or anywhere. It was celebration because my Grandmother was 86. It was a true celebration for a Queen 👑🇳🇬💚. Enjoy your stay back in our Native Land🇳🇬💚
Seun your skin glow is blinding me and your hair is serving lusciousness! 😍
Am enjoying my vicarious living through you right now! 🤩
Ahh thank you Adanna!! i luv you!!!
Adanna,
May the Lord bless you a thousand times over and over.
It’s not every day a fellow female complement and support the other like you’ve supported Seun with your comments.
You will see how GOD ll pay your back.
I don’t know any of you but I just noticed this act of kindness coming from you.
Seun, you were smiling extra hard. Do you like this boy? 😀
I picked up on that too!!! 😉
He is a handsome young man.🤔
She is always smiling and a very agreeable girl. 💖
@@shudson8008 I guessed as much she is really happy. He may be her boyfriend or fiance
I felt she went home to get her man
I wasn’t going to say anything but I was thinking cute couple.😉
I've been to a Nigerian funeral...I was taken on a date once. He said "It's a party"...he dressed up, and I wore a dress...the way he explained the party I thought it was just a party at a facility! But it was full on people in beautiful colorful clothing, a DJ, + live band, food + drinks were flowing. People "blessed" the wife and children of the family that lost their father with cash...but I thought it was a celebration of a birthday. I was later told, it was a funeral. It was truly different and wonderful to see.
I appreciate you sharing sis!
lol, haha, I feel that! thank youuuu!!
The funeral was decked out! If you had not said funeral I would think it was a wedding or something. It's so good to see different cultures' traditions.
Yes! It was a lot of fun
Definitely had wedding reception vibes. I love it!!
I'm loving loving loving these vlogs!! When I visited Nigeria about 5 yrs ago, people kept speaking to me in Igbo, and I couldn't understand why (I'm Jamaican) ... then 1 person told me in English 'You may not know it, but you are definitely descended from the Igbo' I couldn't stop smiling after that🇳🇬🇯🇲🇳🇬
Lol I went to Uni with a guy from the islands and my cousin swore the guy was Igbo lol.
You probably looked Igbo. TD Jakes and Wesley Snipes look Igbo too.
awww, fit right in, you probably do have some Igbo in you
@@nnennaudeh9536 TD Jake's has actually found out that he has Igbo DNA
Where you got the name "Oyadina" from, or you are married to a Nigerian?
Caribbean funerals are the same, there is lots of crying in the service and graveside then at the after-do there is a lot of dancing, eating and celebrating the person’s life. Loved your video
Same in Kenya first few days mourning turn last day after burial celebration party food dance all night and two weeks of family staying with the family of diseased to keep them company
Thank you!❤️ Thats so cool!
Yes my American friends do not understand but the tradition continues. A full-fledged family renunion/party 🙌🏽🇯🇲
@@Lilianamarie999 to remember the person and talk about the good they did in their lifetime, a celebration of life

Never yet having gotten to the African continent, as an African American, I am deeply grateful for your introduction, beyond myth, misinformation and romanticization. The reality is compelling even as I sit here like a silly goose yelling Wakandaaa!!! Complexities the evening news doesn’t tease out are so generously, skillfully shared by you. Grateful to and for you, Seun, so so grateful. American fruit, I feel my African roots with joy and pride exploring your channel’s content!
You should check out the RUclipsrs Wode Maya and Tayo Aina, they travel around Africa and share even more footage and information about different African countries.

awww, I'm so glad you are enjoying these videos!❤️❤️❤️ thank you!!
I absolutely agree 🤗
You are AWESOME for bringing Nigeria to some us here in the states!!! If you ever stop and question why you're doing what you're doing, think of me (and I'm sure many others)!!! If your goal is not journalism, it should be. ❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely!!
Wow!! This is beautiful ❤
god sent, thank you. I really really appreciate your comment
Thanks for sharing the University of Lagos and the funeral activities. In 🇯🇲 , too, funerals are festive. There are several nights of family gatherings, music, food, and celebrations of the loved one’s life. It’s called Nine Night. It’s so cool to see 🇳🇬 where some of the customs came from!
That's so cool!!
I accidentally stumbled on your channel, watched just a couple of videos and i can summarise you in two words
HUMBLE AND ADVENTEROUS.
All the best.
Thank you!!!!!❤️❤️ what a great accident, lol!😊

My fiance is Nigerian and we were there right before Covid. We went back and forth from Lekki to the village. It was great to watch this and see it again. My family is from Guyana and we don't have that same development yet but it reminded me a lot of home. Also loved the jollof at Chicken Republic.
My dad is from Guyana! Have you gone there recently? I want to go just once just to see what my dad saw.
@@ED-ie3et How old are you might I ask? Does your dad still have family in Guyana arrange with them and go 😊.
Aw I love that! Thank you!!
@@ED-ie3et last I went was in 2016 to see my family. Both of my parents are from there. It was wonderful to be with everyone and EAT lol! I hope you can go, I know it’s not the easiest travel experience especially if you don’t have family still there. Do you have anyone that could facilitate the trip? You definitely need someone on the ground.
Nice mix of two beautiful cultures…
Im half Nigerian, although I grew up in Ghana anytime I watch your Nigeria vidoes I always feel like I'm at home💃🏾 even though I've only visited twice. Chaii I can't wait to visit again!!

You gained a new subscriber for showing me the Univerisity of Lagos. I went there and
graduated in 1989

Many African American funerals are not always sad. It depends. New Orleans funerals are more like African funerals and the repast part of many other AA funerals is the celebration part. Slivers of our African culture survived the middle passage as far as funerals are concerned and some other cultural things with some slight adaptation.
That's really cool!!!!! I did not know this!
I was about to say that cuz my dad's end of life celebration wasn't this elaborate but people were singing and yes there were tears but they shared great stories and then I felt a little better at the repass with some food. My dad was Afro Guyanese
@@SeunOkimi We do celebration of life...but not like this! This is more like a wedding or like you're partying with the person for the last time...very cool!!
@@SeunOkimi look for second line funerals in new orleans. there are videos.
Yes, with my family we definitely celebrate the life of the young or old, it’s more sentimental when it’s a younger person of course. But we have this thing were we believe everything happens for a reason so funerals always been a celebration of the person’s life for us. Which is the reason why we go out so much on funerals with the carriages, the doves, the bands, etc.
Currently studying Law at the University of Lagos, so this was definitely interesting to see. If you guys had just gone a bit further when you were at the library, you would have seen the Faculty of Law.
Thank you so very much for showing us a bit of Nigeria. I'm from the U.S., but my husband and I have been in South Africa for two and a half months. South Africa is really beautiful and I'm not ready to leave just yet... looking into extending our visa. Thanks again for showing us how beautiful and lively life in Nigeria really is. P.S. your gorgeous smile is everything.❤️
THAT'S a funeral. That looks like a wedding. Wow!
I haven't been home (nigeria) in 10yrs since I left in 2011... you just remind me of home and can't wait to go

That transition from Murram road to tarmac is so striking and hearing Olamide talk while the transition happened is so powerful
Right? As a Kenyan, its the same way here too. Its saddening and annoying, but I hope we can do better as a country and as a continent in general
I’m glad you enjoyed the experience with the natural hair salon. Thank You for sharing 🇳🇬 with us. I can’t wait to visit (home) someday. Enjoyed the vlog.

I love the life celebration at the funeral. The colors were just beautiful.
Lagoon front 😂😂
The kind of heartache the school gives sometimes ehn, no amount of beach vibes go fit to calm you down😑😭
I swear ehn! 😩😪
😂😂
Love this please keep showing us more of your culture
I just love seeing all that colour, this is at level 10 though am Kenyan and come from a tribe where funerals are as huge as weddings and a celebration of ones life which ends with an all night dance party on the day of burial, black is always associated with sadness and anything that’s not good and I think that’s added to racism, in Africa we are colourful and happy, my first time in the UK in winter all I saw was everyone in black or grey and wondered where is the colour??
too true about the black and greys in winter and autumn in England.
Thank you soooo much for this video! Ty for showing & explaining the views. I was extremely surprised everything looks tropical too! Nigeria is BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for vlogging, explaining & showing us so much 💕
The driver seems sweeet! He’s passing the vibe check lol. Love the vlog 🤎

Thanks for showing the university campus and other sites. It is such a pleasant change to see everyday life in an African country that does not have a Western media perspective. You look happy and at peace. Love your hair!
I want to move back home so bad! Thank you for sharing this.
I went to unilag staff school for my nursery and part of primary and I went back to visit some week ago. I was definitely as excited as you, I took so many pictures. my church was also in the school

I l actually can't get any work done because I'm glued to your videos. Thank you Thank You! Can't wait for the next video.
I agree ❤️❤️❤️❤️
aww, thank you soo much!!!!
They do that in New Orleans they have a parade to the cemetery and then they have a parade leaving the cemetery and that's when they start dancing and carrying on sometimes they are still crying while they're dancing but it's more of a celebration
Congratulations 🎊🎉 So Beautiful 🌸
Our funeral rituals are similar in Jamaica 🇯🇲. We are taught to celebrate the life of the person and be glad for the time shared together on earth.
We only celebrate when the person is really old.
If it is a young person, we don't celebrate.
Loving these types of vids!
Yay!! Thank you!❤️
Love the yellow!! Oshun🌻
Love the content
Good job 👌👌 i like this video
Celebration of Life funerals are lit!..Clearly we are doing it all wrong, thank you for sharing. I wish my family knew our roots in Africa, (slavey Americanized my family traditions)---ooooh to know what my ancestors traditions are would be such a blessing..What a blessing that you have family in Nigeria.
Thanks for your video, it was so nice! My parents are from Benin and I’m planning to spend 3 weeks there in october, I can’t wait! The funeral was so impressive, it looked like a massive wedding! Back in 2015 I went to celebration for the 20th anniversary of the death of my aunt, that was crazy 😂 A lot of people dancing, a lot of food, there was even a DJ and a rapper 😂
I am in tears as I watch the beauty of this clip- I am African American and I sense the richness of what is lost to me- TD JAKES MUST BE ECSTATIC to have found out part of his ancestry- One of my mother's brothers looked exactly like a famous nigerian actor the 1st time I saw this actor in a nollywood movie I almost "fainted" It was like being in a time warp, as my uncle is deceased.I' ve been to Dakar Senegal and Abijan Ivory Coast.I'd like to visit Ghana and other African countries. Anyway I enjoy watching your vlogs
Hi Seun, I went to UNILAG.
Love your vlogs ✨
Thanks for sharing this 🥰
Your culture is beautiful I LOVE ITTTTTT
This is a whole live event, and I love it!! I can't speak for all Black Americans, but its the same for me. The funeral part can be solemn, but I've always seen dancing and singing too. Not as formally organized like this. Also, after its like going to a family reunion. There's music, dancing, food, seeing family etc. I'm from the American South; so I don't know about other regions.
Chicken Republic was my spot when I visited. I wish it were all over the world!
