I got my hair braided on Friday and by Tuesday my scalp was soo itchy. Even my arms and back were itching. This had never happened to me before. I washed the braids and my scalp with the apple cider vinegar and then washed with my shampoo and my scalp felt soooo much better. Thanks for this!!!
Alkaline preservative on the braiding hair should be illegal, or at least come with a big warning. I've always soaked my braiding hair with ACV before I braid my hair. I just feel there is a lack of protection and care when it comes to beauty products aimed at black women.
I'm surprised at how many braiders don't know about the toxic alkaline chemicals in braiding hair. And by how many women accept itching as a natural part of the process. I'll never again use braid hair that has not been soaked in vinegar solution FIRST, before installing. I've also used EZBRAID "itch free" hair which is pre-treated to remove the chemicals. I've had seborrheic dermatitis for many years and those chemicals in regular braiding hair put me in a "flare" with unbearable itching and scalp inflammation, followed by hair loss if I don't jump on the problem. I've had to take braids down after only a few days because of this. Even if you don't have something like sebhorrehic dermatitis, why would you want those chemicals near your scalp? It's completely possible to develop a sensitivity to them when you previously had no problem.
I know I got my hair braided recently and forgot the hair you mentioned is what I usually use. I just didn’t think to ask and thought I would be okay. Three days in, no. It’s day 7 I have purged my hair in the acv. The hair itself feels better and my scalp too. I also put a warm washcloth over my head I still felt a lot of tension in my hair. I still feel a little itchy but I’ve been putting a leave in conditioner in my hair that has helped. It’s ex braid for me itch free from here on out. Whoever doesn’t want to use it will not be braiding my hair.

@@eghobebe9733 Hi! I use it maybe 3 times a week or anytime that I see that my scalp just looks dry. Even if I dont feel any itching yet, if my scalp just looks dry, I apply the blue magic original grease, just so that the itching doesn't start. Really make sure to apply the grease after you wash your hair when your scalp is still a little bit wet because shampoo can dry your scalp a little bit and if your scalp is already dry because of the box braids, your scalp can be soooo dry after you wash your hair. I appreciate your video. Honestly, I think I have a few different things going on. First, because it is summer and I have been on vacation I have burned my scalp in the sun. When air went for a short walk and it turned into a 5 mile walk in a rough terrain with no way out. The. I had to spray after sun on my scalp. Next day I felt the need to make sure I applied sun block on my scalp even though I was going to make sure I wore a hat all day. That night i applied oils. Needless to say, I think the worse itch is at the hair line by my neck and I think I may have a little blister. Because it burned that first night when I sprayed the after sun as well as when I sprayed sunscreen. I have managed to wash the neck hair line with antibacterial soap, applied some warm water and bacitracin. This has given me much needed comfort and I think the bump is getting smaller. I wish I could try sulfur 8 but I am allergic to sulfa. I am afraid to ask ash my hair with the braids on because my hair is so soft, they may slip off. That happened in the past and once I washed them I had to take them out. 😢 Update: I decided to do the ACV + water with cotton balls and cleanse my scalp without washing it. It was an instant relief. The cotton balls were dirty. I never double dipped the cotton. Then I moisturized the scalp and I feel like a different person. Thank you for educating us!
So for me, currently going through it and has always had a sensitivity like this lol. I mix the ACV and water in a spray bottle, but I sprayed it on cotton rounds and applied it to the parts of my scalp, where it was evident (white flakiness and dry skin). I currently have faux locs and my scalp is more exposed now as a result of the style. I hate the chemical on braiding/faux hair lol It helps a lot without me needing to wash my whole head and mess up my hair because I literally got my hair done last week! Then apply moisturizer and oil once you let it dry a little. And because it’s diluted there isn’t an ACV smell like that on my scalp
The faux loc crochets are the worse! My scalp never itched until I did this type of crochet style. I had to take them out after a week! IDK if there is intentionally more chemicals on this type of crochet hair or what.
I just got box braids like 2 days ago and the front of my head is already starting to itch and flake i do think that it is from dry scalp because its not that bad yet and i get dry scalp when my hair is not in protective styles. Anyways, Im planning to keep these in for around 3-4 weeks so i hope it doesn’t get worse. I have been using oil on the itchy parts and a rattail comb to itch the spot and also so it doesn’t cause any frizz. Anyways thanks for this video i will definitely keep some of these things in mind for next time i do braids!
Thank you so much for apple cider vinegar tip🙏. I was able to sleep thanks to you! I ran to the bathroom and rinsed my hair in the vinegar and the next day no itching! Thank you thank you, it was my second time with this problem. it burned after the soak but i sprayed with the ACV after drying the hair. the smell don't really bother me i know what its doing, i have peace. 😍😍😍
Wow I did t know about that coating. I was so confused bc I never had this problem before and I thought maybe it had something to do with the fact that I just took out my locs and my hair is relaxed but my hair survived that. I bet once I take my twist out, I’ll feel much better! Thank you for this video!!
The product you use can sometimes cause it, or the roots of your hair sweats or it can be something else so what you can do sometime is to cleanse your scalp by buying a tea tree oil and put one or two drops into in a little portion of your shampoo and use it to wash your hair.
Once I started soaking the braiding hair in the vinegar/water mixture BEFORE I get my hair braided, everything was peachy. Been doing that for years. You're right about the contact dermatitis. Ppl can also try putting a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in their shampoo to treat their dry scalp.
I've had to deal with dandruff for years, once getting my hair braided , the itching became a LOT worse at night. I'm fine during the day.. I'm gonna try that sulfur 8 though, I'll come back and update this if I remember

This video is very informative! I have a braid updo and I had it since may 23rd, my daughter uses some type of mousse in her clients hair..I guess to make the braids last longer. I just took the rubber bands out and let my hair down but I noticed as my braids are getting older ..my scalp itches but I don't want to use vinegar, it can dry my hair out. So I'm thinking maybe I should wash my hair with the braids in
8ve had my first crochet hair done, synthetic as mix up at the salon. Oh my god my hair is so itchy especially the outer lining of my scalp. Started to itch at the front as well as the back and top by day 3. I can't cope. I was told you shouldn't wash them, these are only. Heap and dont want to loose my curls. Had the done 2 weeks ago and already experiencing a lot of itching with no exercise. I detest scratching my scalp in public and need relief. The itching is really problematic. I will definitely try some of those remedies. Question: do you smell like ACV or Sulfur after spraying your scalp? If so, how do you remedy that?
Super video!
im going to try this in the morning! it makes sense bc my scalp is never itchy until i get braids in i hope it works
Thank you so much for posting this content! I have now been able to keep my braids in for 6 weeks lol. Before I would barely last 3 weeks because the itching was unbearable
what did you end up using to relieve the itch?
Thank you because I just started doing my hair and my head is sooo itchy, I’m taking these out and going to wash my head and re do my hair after doing to ACV soak!
Did it work when you soaked them in ACV
Thank you girl I’m about to try everything you said for dry scalp cause babeeee 🤣🤣🤣🙌🏽
Been getting my hair braided since the 90's. OMG just got my hair braided this past weekend. By day 2, my scalp and skin was itching like crazy. Since I spent so much money, I am going to wash the braids with ACV tomorrow. Thank you.
Did it work?
Thank you thank you, it was my second time with this problem.
it burned after the soak but i sprayed with the ACV after drying the hair.
the smell don't really bother me i know what its doing, i have peace. 😍😍😍
Wow I did t know about that coating. I was so confused bc I never had this problem before and I thought maybe it had something to do with the fact that I just took out my locs and my hair is relaxed but my hair survived that. I bet once I take my twist out, I’ll feel much better! Thank you for this video!!
When I cornrow or twists just my natural hair, after 2-3 days the crazy itching starts! Even without using extensions. Why does that happen?
The product you use can sometimes cause it, or the roots of your hair sweats or it can be something else so what you can do sometime is to cleanse your scalp by buying a tea tree oil and put one or two drops into in a little portion of your shampoo and use it to wash your hair.
@@fundash5124 In my case it might be certain products, I'm trying to observe how my hair reacts to the products I use regularly
Thank you so much for sharing, some of them i was not even aware of
Your hair is so pretty 😍.
BTB video is on point though. It helps shed light on my dry scald and flaking challenges.
Oh thank you!
I've been binge watching your content, you really love hair, it shows on how you talk about it xoxo
HIGHLY informative....THANKS!!
What great information, thanks so much for sharing this video.❤
Thankyou so much. I think I have 2 of the causes you named.
I've had to deal with dandruff for years, once getting my hair braided , the itching became a LOT worse at night. I'm fine during the day.. I'm gonna try that sulfur 8 though, I'll come back and update this if I remember
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH🙏🏽 Not aware I used a different hair brand & boyyyyyy did I pay for it. LESSON LEARNED to pay attention to ALL details when getting my hair braided. My head was on 🔥 & I also felt it throughout my body. The APPLE CIDER VINEGAR WORKED🥳
(Do you know if the apple cider will dry out our hair?)
When i have enough cash, i buy extensions which are already anti bacterial, already soaked in acv,it makes a difference on the scalp!
So I'm thinking maybe I should wash my hair with the braids in
Holly crap, My head itches so bad but it feels so good at the same time 🥴, thank you tho
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks girl! #4 might be it. II make my own oils though but I will try to keep it simple.
I was washing my pack of braids but then I stopped and now I gotta do it again😁😁
I love you and stay safe, stay blessed, and stay praying 🙏🏾🙏🏾💖💜❤️💙🧡🤍
You must felt my scalp inching.. So annoying. I can scratch sores in my head. . Thanks🦸♀️👏💯
My hair inches without braids/ styles.
This is such an amazing video!! Thank you! ❤
Thanks for sharing information cause load's of people don't even know it
Oil. Castor oil. Really helps me. I think my dry scalp combined with the tension from braiding...I didnt really oil when the hair was open
good thing about greasing the scalp..... makes braid take down easier for me. ^_^
Well I dont have extensions but i do have itchy scalp with braids. Hope the product will give me some relief. Tired of the irritation.
I know this was about itch...but I'm looking at your Twists :-).
But so got try the acv if no joy they will have to come out. There only cheap per packet but I really love the style and thought try them whilst I wait for my new order be gutted now If I have to have them put. Also started having loads of itchy bumps around the hairline.. 😄 thank you for you videos.. much love 💘
Thank you, Ma you are the best.
Thank you so much for the informative video ❤❤

Thank you so much!!
Your hair is so beautiful. Love it!
but doesn't it smell? the apple cider vinegar, even if its diluted?
Does white vinegar work the same as apple cider vinegar?
is there a video for your hair install? Love it!
Yes there is
Yes there is!
it helped me a lot thank you so much 😍🥰🥰🥰
Thanks so much! Didn’t know sulfur 8 had a anti itch/anti dandruff spray which is so much easy to apply!!
Yesss!! I love it. Definitely easy to apply
Can I wash the hair in apple cider vinegar, then shampoo it before adding it to someone’s real hair ?
I love your channel and thank you for these amazing videos 💓💓
Thank you so much!!
I love your hair extension, what brand is it
How do ypu soak synthetic hair woth oit it messing up
If you don’t have apple cider vinegar to take off the film off like of synthetic or pre-stretched hair, can you use distilled white vinegar and warm water to take the film off if you are allergic to it it being so close to the scalp
