I got this very simple canned food kit from www.earthntree.com. Even with such an easy kit, there are lots of custom touches you can add.
Learn how to age metal and add realistic looking rust. As always, I show a couple different methods so you can use what you already have at home.
    Some of my favorite things:
    Double-sided flooring tape
    amzn.to/423tJwL
Miter Shears- these are the clippers I use to cut pieces of wood and toothpicks etc
    amzn.to/3sQJnhe
    Dirty Down Rust Effect paint
    amzn.to/3xjxOBu
    Oyu Pla/Oyumaru reusable mold putty
    amzn.to/44KaaJz
Cheaper clear mold putty I haven't tried
    amzn.to/45JiAlB
2 oz bottle of Diamond Glaze
    amzn.to/3zmMLR1
8 oz bottle of Diamond Glaze
    amzn.to/3zpiMbm
Heat gun- I use mine to quickly dry paint, soften the glue to dismantle furniture and quickly cure polymer clay without an oven. Gets a lot hotter than a hair dryer.
    amzn.to/3YBAIcH
Craft heat gun that doesn't get as hot as mine
    amzn.to/3ZZ5wWe
Paper fasteners & 1/8" hole punch

The price has gone down! I paid $30. Now it's $24. I think I'll pick up another bottle even though mine is only half empty.

I use baking soda with super glue as well mainly as an accelerator I'm going to try it for rust, can't wait. Have a great day 🌼✌

We found many cans that looked just like the ones you created when we cleaned out my great aunt's cellar! They stored so much food during the war years and it was forgotten. Rusting minis was one of the first things I learned how to do - thanks to you and your channel. It never gets old! ( no pun intended 🤣) 🥰✨

What an awesome tip for the glue cap! I love the cans! I recently learned that blue and orange makes a great rust color. Being an artist, I feel like I should have known this..😂 alot of cans have a stirp where the label doesn't go completely around...so realistic!❤🥰

The cans look like the ones I saw while helping to clean a hoarders home. This person had stacks of cans in half boxes that were purchased by the case full. It was a really sad situation. As soon as a section was cleared up, more stuff was purchased to fill the space. It was a no win situation. I had to stop. BTW, the person had requested the help.

Love the way you customise kits and minis! Your techniques go a long way to triggering all sorts of new ideas. I've had a go at making rusty tin cans in the past, using an aluminium foil pie pan and I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. The rust effect I used was really similar to some of yours with baking soda and paint. Baking soda's pretty versatile stuff, I was looking all around for more things to try and make rusty afterwards hahaha

    • @queencityminis
      @queencityminis  2 месяца назад +1

A viewer suggested sprinkling cinnamon on the super glue! I need to try that. Baking soda causes a chemical reaction that immediately hardens the glue. I wonder what'll happen with cinnamon.

That sounds like a science experiment we're both going to have to try! I made a 1/6 scale fallout shelter a few years ago for a contest and I literally made hundreds of individual cans of food out of wooden dowels and printables. When I was done making all my tiny individual cans of food I glued them all together LOL!!!
