I learned (the hard way) that hand sanitiser and hand cream break down the surface of leather and leather skinned steering wheels. As you correctly state once the problem is there its just finessing the matter. I'm now faced with dealer oem replacement, self fitting a used one from an auto yard or a wrap. I need some kind of temporary barrier like you use on tyre walls or the wax on the car body, is there such a thing for leather steering wheels?

My M3's paddle shifters started to peel. BMW covered it under warranty. My Mercedes C coupe's the steering wheel chrome trim started to peel. MB did not cover the damage. Ill be installing a carbon fiber trim piece.

I was looking for a viedo actually how to repair the paint that’s damaged thr s500 has a wood and looks like leather but it’s actually a filler of some kind and it’s now scratched and need to be repaired ? And suggestions what I can do

We have a c class and I mainly use the car we have had several Mercedes E class but the steering wheel is marked where I hold the steering wheel when driving I dont use hand cream etc never ever had this problem looks like it has gone soft no other part of the steering wheel is affected. We wont be happy if when we return the car the say we need to pay for a new one. We have had about 5 mercedes up to now varying ages. Last 2 were brand new on lease.
