Despite their official releases being more developed and of a higher sound quality, I find myself returning to this and the Few Old Tunes cassettes more than any other Boards of Canada releases. There is something about the lo-fi sound and the relative simplicity of these tracks that enhances the intoxicatingly mysterious feeling all BoC has. It's also great to scroll down here and see people talk about all sorts of things. Life, death, drugs, music, beauty, creation, evolution, and somehow we can all discuss these things with little to no violence towards each other. People have their beliefs and disbeliefs, but if they disagree that's usually the end of it. In so many other places people will show their hatred toward one another without hesitation, as if it's a competition to see who's the best at arguing, or if the person they're arguing with has been someone they've hated for all of their life, but for the most part this is a place of peace and solace for everyone. No liner notes or tape scan have ever surfaced.

They really changed the way I perceive several things only with their music and that never happened (in my case) with any other musician (I mean before and after I discovered them, maybe the only one apart from them is Aphex Twin but still BOC is at the top in terms of thought-provoking music). I keep coming back to track 8 on side B. Such an eerie vibe, kinda like their hell interface tracks. I wish they delved deeper into this aesthetic, instead of brushing past it in geogaddi. But to each their own I guess.
BoC always takes my imagination to a world with wind turbines in the distance and vast stretches of land with clusters of architecture of the future. Green roofs and solar panels have conquered a forgotten past of dispute and greed. Space awaits.
This is apparently a compilation of stuff from the unreleased albums. Autechre said in an interview that they had been close to BoC, but “they had cut a lot of people out after the leak”. Now we know, probably…
Their music always takes me back to being a child in the 70s Maybe the National Film Board of Canada videos we watched in school. Life was much better back in those days. Be nice to see a new album one of these days.
Even more than their albums, I keep returning to this cassette. Here's a person, this sound; one foot out the door and they're looking back slightly. I'm in the room looking at them, trying to read their face and understand what they're saying. Yes, superficially I can make out the words, but the way it's said, there's something new. Another kind of directionality. We're already travelling. It feels like an emotion that happens *after* you have learned what fear, nostalgia, estrangement and mystery feel like.
I believe that the music of these brothers is spiritual. According to developmental psychology they would be at a post-rational stage, i.e. prior to transpersonal stages. It's called, teal (turquoise) or integral stage of MUSICAL or talent development, and if you want to know more about people at this level (called a centaur). People have different developmental lines depending on their gifts. Please look up the American Philosopher Ken WIlber, because these guys are definitely on that level of an integrated religious body-mind in mystical union.

@skcolc Those are fake albums. There's people on the web that has been doing fake BOC albums by just adding other tracks from previous BOC releases (and sometimes even tracks from other artists) just to make a completely fake version. Everything from Boards Of Canada before Twoism (except for Random 35 Tracks Tape, A Few Old Tunes and Old Tunes Vol. 2) are just fake releases created by people who tries to trick others and make them believe that they have the real version of those releases. Yes; they do exist, but the only people who''ve heard (and have original copies) them are friends and family of Marcus and Mike. In the case of Play By Numbers, there's only one LEGIT sample that has been heard outside friends and family of the duo. Here's the only real sample. ruclips.net/video/PEPPv-o68KY/видео.html

Truly a beautiful world if this artist can come from it. Another beautiful thing is the colour transition from red to blue in that sunset, almost like the sky itself is a rainbow
Some of these are found on A Few Old Tunes/Old Tunes V.2, e.g. "She is P" 1:23, "Finity" 8:13, "5d" (Seven Forty Seven sampling?) 13:16, "I Will Get It Tattooed" 41:07
This is pure bliss. Injects magic straight into the energy of the soul. I feel more elevated, sparked, and evolved than after a phenomenal run or brain work out with math.
The sheer volume of unfamiliar material in this mix makes me think some of it MUST be from the mysterious early albums. Otherwise it is CRIMINAL to continue to conceal the genius that must reside in that other material.

This tape is almost scarily good. I love it. I always have this nagging feeling that I am doing the wrong thing by listening to it though. The two brothers, whom I respect artistically like no others, didn’t want this to be leaked. Yes, they are two extremely talented and creative musicians, but not all music is supposed to be shared. Music is an extremely personal experience, and they didn’t release these songs by choice. Sometimes, you want to create things for yourself, your family, or close friends. Not all art is meant to be shared.

34:05, there are simply no words invented to describe it💖
So much love for this video. Thanks again for posting!
Thank you, it was a marvelous experience to travel among the galaxies.

@skcolc Can you prove it to me?
I thought 13:16 was 5D?
@@carlosstagliano7678 it's not the real 5D

@@milesium-487 How do you know? It matches up with the original track lengths perfectly. lol Some of these are actually from Closes Vol. 1 and other rarities of theirs.

Ohhh you're so complex
finity is my favorite track on here,,,
Finite is probably one of my top favorite songs. Not just by them, but as a song in general.
Music has the right to Children gives me such intense nostalgia to my 80s England bowl haired youth. Life was a blur.
I didn't know about any of this. I had their first 3 albums back in early 2000s. I would listen on my way home from parties as a teenager. Alot of the time it was the best part of the night.
If you haven't yet, I recommend you check out old tunes volume 1 and 2. There are some pretty great tracks on there. There are also some snippets and other bits of their older releases out there.
This is the only music still playing when all other music has left the party
Truly a beautiful world if this artist can come from it.
Another beautiful thing is the colour transition from red to blue in that sunset, almost like the sky itself is a rainbow
You cant make fresh diamonds on your lips or anis
This can't be real.
+Sektion9 Nothing is real
+Will Sharp Except reality itself.
+Miserable Meatbag *sigh*

Some of these are found on A Few Old Tunes/Old Tunes V.2, e.g. "She is P" 1:23, "Finity" 8:13, "5d" (Seven Forty Seven sampling?) 13:16, "I Will Get It Tattooed" 41:07
Alex Jeffries love finity 💜
This is pure bliss. Injects magic straight into the energy of the soul.
I feel more elevated, sparked, and evolved than after a phenomenal run or brain work out with math.
"Audiotrack 12" Yes. Yes indeed.
"Audiotrack 12" Aye. Side A. Aye indeed.
Theme for a comet’s approach to the sun
another great scottish band , my pesonal favourite for a long time now
Spasibo, Yura. Dai Bog zdorov'ya.
Благодарю :)
lol wtf are u doin here bro
dude, why
The sheer volume of unfamiliar material in this mix makes me think some of it MUST be from the mysterious early albums. Otherwise it is CRIMINAL to continue to conceal the genius that must reside in that other material.
Audiotrack 06 is apparently an early version of Seven Forty Seven :) Or at least sounds like it is
5d
and audiotrack 08 is basefree
Stanislaw Dunlap no its actually June 9th

For subconscious travelers. Great upload
I like it how that 42:11 is the exact middle of the album, and that's exactly when Side B begins.
Little things like this is what makes BOC special
@@olsonbryce777 Tomothy Gorky-Bowels lengthened both sides by 11. 11 and 2 is the preamble that will contrast full function. 11 inside of grid A is hyperdimension ⅞. ⁸.⁹.
track B4 is what fills my emptiness for a solid day.
So so so much
As I was reading this comment, track B4 started playing. I went up to check out B4.... and it just started. I'm scared!
42:10 Hands down my favorite track off of the album.
Yep, mine too. It does something to me that i can never explain.
All great, think 13 is my 'repeat for a while' track though
DAV I was listening to it just as I read your post. It’s a keeper!
Louis Cole brought me here. I can hear on the opening intro track notes, some of the colorful harmonic modal mixture Louis uses in KNOWER, for example. If Louis Cole recommends something musical I check it out and chances are I am gonna dig it.
same, i think he took inspiration from track 4 (specifically the driving dead snare) in f the makeup skip the shower
Thank you very much for the re-upload!!!
Que álbum!, es una obra maestra, gracias!
Thank you!, this album is a master piece!
audiotrack 15 in side b is absolutely insane
me gustaría tener amigos a quienes les agrade pasar tiempo escuchando estas músicas

Hola
@@poochie98 hola :)
Audiotrack 13 on Side A and Audiotrack 16 on Side B are the standout tracks.
UGH THIS WHOLE THING !!!
Muchas gracias por haberlo subido, no tuve la oportunidad de escucharlo hasta hoy, y me parece muy bueno, procederé a descargarlo de la página correspondiente, un saludo desde México :3
Thanks so much for posting these. Hopefully these are genuine BOC tracks. Enjoying the hell out of this so far.
Favourite group since I first heard them at age 15 (13 years ago). Thanks for the upload ♥️
Thanks for potato blood

Thank you for reupping this, it's the best version.
Finity is hypnotizing, Finity is eye-opening, Finity is amazing. From its first chords I fell in love with it. It is kinda sad that BoC never again used this drum sample which sounds so natural and clean.
Finite is not only one my top favorite BOC songs, but one of my top favorite songs in general. Everything you said and more about finity.
Hi, keeping it alive by a nice mix of old and new, brilliant. Keep the faith maaaaan 😀 and thanx!
Prettt sure Audiotrack 12 from Side B is one of the fallouts from Twoism. Literally it uses the same instrument as the tracks from that album.
bro please all weapons in battlefield 4 I love your videos 😁
I really love your profile pic Jura, now everytime I hear something from this album, that little cat picture pops into my head :D
:D Yup, i like him too. It's from "A kitten named Woof" - very old soviet cartoon series.
nice, ill have to check that out
BEST MUSIC EVER... ALWAYS WITH ME SINCE 2004
At least one person out there in the world has this cassette... someone had to have it to put it on the internet... What I would do to listen to that...
