    Saw Palmetto and Pumpkin Seed Oil are both high in b-Sitosterol. Saw Palmetto more than pumpkin seed oil. Some studies I came across stated that as much as 5000mg (5 grams) of saw palmetto per day for three months showed no side effects in men, but dramatically reduced prostate weight/volume. Rye pollen extract is also great, but extremely expensive

My brother who is now 72 use to go to the beach early every morning and swan great distances and also use to power walk also but now has prostate cancer. He didn't drink,smoke nor eat spicy food. Other friends of his who were rigorous with their physical activity also have prostate cancer...smh. It's just confusing for me.

      The fact that these are mostly natural food supplements (like an herbal remedy) it would be very difficult to pin-point a specific regimen to follow. Plus couple it to individual lifestyles and stress exposure…it would best to try which ones are available to you then continue monitoring your symptoms if they’d be gone.
      I have very good response (most symptoms are near back to normal or rather almost non-existent) with pumpkin seeds (as snacks) and a daily dose of saw palmetto capsules (2x in a day), daily green tea and for the lycopene I used an alternative (powdered spinach that I make into a cold drink). BUT it took nearly 3months or more to notice the improvements. I have yet to have a prostrate size check (hopefully this month) to quantify if there are really improvements in my prostrate size.

    He mentions TURP, but no other methods of surgery. There are others that are much better, IMO. Do some research before getting talked into TURP. TURP has all kinds of side effects, including retrograde ejaculation, incontinence, and from what he said here, prostatitis. Who the hell wants that? Another alternative Is “Rezum” steam therapy, and the one I’m leaning towards is PAE: “Prostate arterial embolization.” THE urologist I saw on Rezum, said it improves symptoms 30%, which didn’t sound very good to me. TURP improves them much better, and so does PAE. I’m still researching PAE. Another procedure I just discovered, is “plasma therapy,” which I guess is different than TURP, but it also has a possible side effect of retrograde ejaculation.
    The supplements I’ve tried so far, Saw Palmetto, stinging nettle, pumpkin seed oil, and Pygeum, I took all at the same time and they didn’t seem to make much of an improvement.

He’s a very young 81 yr old widower. What treatment did you wind up going with? Do you have treatment ideas for him? I have no clue what to do and there’s so much info out there. • @nabuk3

      Caution: PAE is new and involves massive amounts of radiation during the procedure, which can foster future cancers. Rezum is very painful and has mixed reviews by men who have had it done, despite the hype by those who developed it. Look into HoLEP, an untrasound ablation treatment.

    You want to know why older men get enlarged prostates. Consider what the function of the prostate gland actually is, it provides the extra fluid needed for ejaculation. Then consider what happens to any organ that is not being used. Older men tend to no longer engage in sex and that causes the prostate to weaken and become conjested. Prostate enlargement seems to be a function of having no sex life and if you questioned older men about their frequency of orgasms I think you might find a strong correlation as the number decreases the enlargement increases.

    How do we consume the pumpkin seed oil? Drink 1 tablespoon everyday? Or stir fry vegetables with pumpkin seed oil? It is a very expensive oil to use for cooking... 🤔

    I think we all agree that drainage of fluids is the only way to shrink (reduce the volume of) the Prostate. Taking systemic medication might help. I prefer gentle, direct pressure. Thus my BPH is under control. Says my urologist.

    Im 27 generally quite fit and healthy I've been doing yoga, breath work and home workouts lately. I've got symptoms of a prostate problem 🤷‍♂️... My doctor has said it could be constipation but I don't think so

      I'm 36 and have recently had prostate problems as well. My urologist said that the "50 and older" thing is just a guideline and that people as young as 20 can start to have issues. He said usually they resolve on their own. Sometimes it takes weeks or months but it'll eventually ease off by itself (as long as you're not having more severe symptoms, anyway). It took 2 months for me....now I'm just looking for preventative measures so I don't deal with it again. Good luck.

    Green tea has lots of caffeine. Caffeine causes more urination and dehydration which are not good for BPH, just like coffee..

    what about zinc supplements , pills?

    • @nabuk3
      @nabuk3 2 года назад +1

      Be careful. Too much zinc is toxic, and you should not take it unless your current zinc levels are low. A blood test can clarify this.

    Are you aware of the hypothesis that BPH is a part of the metabolic syndrome and, as such, is associated with hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance? If so, what do you think of it?

      @@ingridjocelynab1You can have perfect glucose levels and still suffer from hyperinsulinemia. It's the insulin that's the culprit.

    Maybe this help someone. Dark Chocolate. I have been very upset about my BPH the last three weeks. I began to drink two cups of dark chocolate (I prefer it sweetened) at nigth. Surprisingly I began to sleep deeply and the symptoms decreased to a bearable state

    • @nabuk3
      @nabuk3 2 года назад

      Do not take sweet chocolate. Sugar promotes cancer and especially prostate cancer. If you eat chocolate (don't drink it), which does have some good antioxidant properties, eat DARK chocolate, 70% cocoa or more, with as little sugar as possible.
