Thanks to Marco Cardoso for pointing out that the Krieg miniatures included in the Octarius box set won’t give you enough operatives to be able to use the ‘Trooper Veterans Ancillary Support’ option. This option gives you an additional 4 Trooper Veterans. I completely missed that so thanks Marco! 👊 I guess we might be needing some more Death Korp after all 🤣 I’ll probably stick to my ten miniatures and use the other support options which looks awesome.
Yep, discovered that myself last night. A bit frustrating. Decided I shall sculpt some silly NPC looking proxys for the 4 Veteran option. They may or may not be flippin' the bird at you know who :)
In case anyone is coming to this video in 2024 looking for guidance: no need to kitbash your Comms Veteran. You will ALWAYS want to run him as Comms, as it amplifies the orders that this team is made better by.
I'm probably going to go for the magnetizing route for some of them if not all. When they give us such unique sculpts with so many options it's kinda sad we can't buy extra models right away without another Octarius set (and my store had a limit of 1 box per customer). Definitely a fantastic release, top notch.
@@Scarytoaster1809 You can get 1mm lil magnets. I only worry that the attractive force would be so small that touching the model would knock the bits loose.
I just finished doing exactly that. I used 1 mm diameter by 0.5 thick magnets for the Krieg. I used some of those on the Orks as well. Hoses and the like. The Ork arms were 2mm by 1 mm thick magnets Loads of milliput, superglue, and patience. Don't worry about things falling off. It's not a concern.

One thing you can do for the proxy weapons is, as long as you have the spare weapon of course, put a magnet under the base of the model, and one on the weapon so they stick to the base to represent a different loadout visually.
You do realise that the arms with a little work and sometimes with no work can fit any body you want right? For the sniper it doesn’t have to be the kneeling guy. The leader doesn’t have to be that pose. The confidant arms fit on quite a few models.

Btw. what's your opinion on magnetizing certain minis to keep flexibility up and costs (for a second box of Krieg) down? I'm currently sitting on a Tempestor Mini (Scions Fireteam, AM) that I want to magnetize right arm/left arm with different options (bolt pistol, las pistol, plasma pistol and chainsword, energy sword, energy fist). But there is really exactly no need of doing this because this $%"(== compendium gave us no reason whatsoever to pick inferior weapon options like bolt pistol and chainsword over much superior options as plasma pistol and energy weapon, not even a little bit point saving. No idea what is their reasoning behind that, it forces players to go always for the best load-out. I still try to make it work, the fine people over at GHD discords convinced me, that in narrative play, something like a cool relic bolt pistol could be implemented. Sorry, back to topic, do you think to put a magnet to interchange 4b and 4c e.g. (can't see what they are, a flamer and a nade launcher?) could be an interesting alternative option to your WYSIWYG variant of adding the flamer on the backpack?
I thought about trying to magnetise the pistols for the Sergeant Veteran but for me it’s a bit too fiddly and I don’t have a small enough drill. I think if you have the skills and tools then that’s a great way to go. For the heavy weapons I think that would be more difficult because they are all on different poses, but with some refinements and green stuff it might be an option for sure.
To be fair no one is "forcing" you to pick the best loadouts. While I understand the frustration and strange decision to make some options objectively better than others, you can still play with whatever you want, particularly if you had already built minis. I did magnetize my Tempestor and it took like 10 minutes, I'd highly recommend it in case future boxsets expand on the rules and datasheets for Scions. (I had 2 built with Plasma Guns from the previous edition, thankfully I was able to cut off the arms off of 1 of them and give him a Melta instead, so I definitely share the feeling of not wanting to get a new box for just 1 or 2 models)
They are fiddly for sure! That will make it easier to play at first but you might want more options later. I put an extra weapon on the back of some of the Guardsmen so I could use them as two different operative types (plus they can all be proxied as regular Guardsmen) then I have lots of options.
Is Krieg good to play? How do you feel about it? I'm going to buy one but confuse about its stat. They all shoot on 4+ and only have 2/3 damage. Should I play Kasrkin instead?

I wanted the demolition vet too so it was a difficult choice. I looked at putting the sniper on 10 but personally I didn't think the pose looked right (leaning forward). The arms (A77 & A49) fit easily on body 9 and with the turned head actually looks like they are looking down the scope. The kit is actually fairly flexible. Because I used the body for the hardened vet, I stuck the arms on body 8 and used the head B30 (I had to cut the pipe off and use the pipe from A13). Trooper 10 I built as a comms as the poses are similar.
I know this is a really dumb question, but can you use these Kill Team Krieg Guardsmen, can I use these in a regular 40k army for like an actual game. I am really interested in it and im a little confused.
Hey Billy, not at all dumb. You can use them in 40k. The rules and data sheets for the specific Krieg units are published by Forge World, and Warhammer Legends but you can find them online. You can play them as regular infantry with basic weapons or use them as Veterans to make use of the many weapons they come with in the Kill Team set.
