Patrolling Tallarn makes you wish for a Valhallan winter.
Being a kriegsman makes you wish for death wherever you are
Patrolling the Mojave makes you wish for a nuclear winter.
when you get the reference
Patrolling the mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.
When the Legion get here I'm saving one bullet for myself
I really dig this scheme. The "Soviet Green" armour, natural leathers, and the cream coloured coat, pretty cool! If you added vehicles to this, you'd definitely need to paint the cockpit interiors with the "Soviet Toothpaste" turquoise to carry the theme forward!
We've all obviously been watching too much Bald and Bankrupt :D
I like this uniform. What's the difference between the denim blue uniform? Is it seasonal like this winter model?
@@rikkiwazzerman3654 Well this is just Guy painting what he feels like. The standard uniform is just what Games Workshop decided is the Krieg colors, though like the rest of Krieg, they're based on WW1 Germans.
@@DaThingOnTheDoorstep Appreciate it.
@@DaThingOnTheDoorstep Well WW1 in general too. With the french-esque greatcoats and some regiments with more blueish uniforms(urban camo I guess).
It would be nice if GW put the piece numbers on both sides of the sprue and had an arrow pointing to which adjacent bit it refers to
EXACTLY! Also, WHAT'S UP MY DUDE!?
Another thing GW needs to do is to stop trying to split so many damn pieces into halves. Legit, there is *SO MANY* parts on the Chaos Knights sprews that come in two halves, and they're supposed to be one whole piece.
Why is it so difficult for them to just make one solid piece? It would actually cut down on mold lines.
I think its just IQ test of GW in general
@@TheRaven-WingGaming its because of the way making injection plastic molds works, you need draft angles so it easily comes out of the mold
The most annoying part are the sprues with no damn numbers and you just have to go by the picture
Still kills me that GW doesnt know how to sequence their numbers correctly..... Bandai figured that out back in the 80s
The 3d printed guard shown are Valor Korps by The Makers Cult
They paint up beautifully, and the range is extensive
One thing about the method of snow you used, you really want to make sure that it's completely sealed. It can, easily, start yellowing which doesn't look good. The baking soda absorbs a lot of stuff extremely well which is why it does it.
Would corn starch be a good alternative to baking soda?
@@Celticelery thats another thing that really likes sucking up moisture. wouldent want to make oobleck on the base would ya
Don’t eat yellow snow
@@Celticelery Woodland Scenics do massive tubs of snow powder, it's probably worth picking one of those up, or from equivalent brands. Might be a little bit more expensive than baking soda but it's worth it
@@Celticelery Most corn starches start out slightly yellowed from my experience.
It's more of a thing with the baking soda that you really need to heavily seal the model both before you apply it and after it to keep it from leeching anything into it and discoloring it.
The reason it discolors is the same reason why it's used to deal with smells in the fridge and similar places.
Don't know if someone mentioned it yet, but I'd recommend putting a thin coat of varnish over the snow (if you're not doing a full spray varnish over all). Baking soda snow can go yellow overtime if it's not fully sealed.
Don't eat yellow snow
@@CrumbnFur correct
or just mix a drop of white paint in with it
Is matte varnish ok, or would that look bad?
@@warhammertrash1626 that's what I use
Was I the only one that expected a Dana Howl cameo as soon as pale sand was mentioned?
Dana Howl busts through the wall like the Kool Aid man "PALE SAAAAND"
He's talked about Pale Sand a few times recently without cutting her in. But I always expect it.
i really need them to sign some foreversies deal so he can keep using that clip
Guy doing Krieg ? What a glorious day ! :D love from Switzerland to you, Penny, Gork and Mork !
I completely agree about GW sprues. They could take some lessons from Bandai in that department.
The weird thing is that on some sprues they are set up well. I think Blackstone fortress had them very neatly organized.
Whats funny is the Ork kit from the same box is even MORE spread out. Like, at least all the Torsos/Legs are near eachother on the Krieg sprue.
They number parts according to the assembly order, this is why they spread out on sprue
But this system doesn't make any sense, well, yeah, it's easier to remember which parts to search, but search tooks so much effort that I all the time forget "Did I already cut out 16 or only 15", it would be a lot easier if numbers would follow sprue order, it would be easier, even if you have to check build instructions for each part
@@gi1dor In some of the easy to build boxes they put letters on each sprue. So you would at least know where to start to look. Still hate easy to build, though.
@@Lodorn I think it's standard to include letters on different sprues, I don't think it's only easy to build, for example, this Veteran Guardsmen from box includes 2 sprues, 1 main and 1 with special weapon and other additional stuff, it has A and B
Labeling sprues is probably the most basic thing, it also doesn't help with search one of 100 parts on a large sprue without order
What a great way to start the day. Greetings from Vancouver Canada. Hope you’re enjoying the new studio
Thanks for the Armageddon Steel Legion tutorial, those tan coats are iconic😜 just joking great video as always!
That was definitely the best rickroll of the year
I am unreasonably interested in puttees. The old metal Gaunt's Ghosts models had them and I really like the aesthetic, I need to get me some real ones for a cosplay.
Oh, Ed! Recently picked up your ghost videos. Keep up the great work!
@@compyguy Thanks :D I'm glad someone's watching them, hopefully they prove useful!
As someone who used them a lot larping, get Finnish ones if you can, they stay up better and are the most comfortable I've tried.
I bought some of these models today and needed a tutorial for my thousand sons chaos cultist. Extremely useful
This was awesome. I wish you would paint the box like with the Black Fortress series. Loved the way this paint job turned out. Looking forward to future videos. Keep up the good work.
THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR FOR A LONG TIME!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!
Love the paint tutorials! Probably my favorite MWM videos.
I'm not sure rhe "cross hatch" technique is for everyone, but I really like it. I would probably make it a bit more subtle, but I really want to try it on something. Keep up the good work!
Guy is my Warhammer guru no doubt about it. This paint job was unbelievably good.
These models look absolutely amazing
I've always wanted to do a Krieg with construction worker safety colors. High visibility greens and oranges, that grey and pink mask. Thanks for the video guy. Loving all the content!
I literally just finished painting my kill team with almost the exact same color scheme! The coincidence is quite hilarious to me,
Thank you , Guy .
🐺
Its always a great sign to wake up and see Midwinter Minis have made a video on your favourite imperial guard regiment
As soon as I heard that old school MWM string play at the very start of the video, I knew this was going to be good.
Whoever did that Rick Roll at the end is a genius
Great video! Just a heads up, baking *powder* is baking soda with citric acid mixed in, to make it fizz when you add water. Good for making cakes rise, probably not what you want for snow bases.
yeah, i always get "baking powder" mixed up with "baking soda" mixed up with "bicarbonate of soda". i _think_ the last two are just different names for the same thing, but always end up getting the wrong one from the shops bc i forget which one of the three names is the odd one out.
@@soupalex Agreed! I started remembering when I noticed the stuff in our cupboard is branded "magic baking powder", where the magic ingredient is science (acid)! 🌋
Baking powder isn't really a strongly-defined thing at all, different companies use different mixtures. The unifying factor being that whether or not they fizz when you add them to water, the important part is that they evolve gases when heated so your cake or whatever rises in the oven at the point where it's starting to get structure rather than wasting all the fizz at the liquid-batter stage where it'll bubble out and escape.
Definitely not just the same thing as sodium bicarbonate, though!
Ahhh, an ode to the BSF Days. Love content, thanks. Happy B-Day
Hell of a deft touch with that snow. Well done!
Amazing snow. Just amazing. Works like a charm.
Ah, yesssss... this is *EXACTLY * what I needed!
I love death core, heavy germany ww1 vibe and the re-release makes me so happy
Love your vids! Also really enjoy the humble hobbyist-attitude your have towards your things. Really reinforces the feeling that any level is welcome and appreciated.
It's so refreshing to see a mini painting channel not using everything Gamesworkshop. So many good products out there. Great tips. Thanks for sharing.
Love the progression from fast and dirty to a more detail focussed addition to the mini! and Happy Belated Birthday!
Bro you have the best intros the music drags me in every time.
Midwinter minis: *releases DKoK video*
Me, who just started an army of them literally a day before:
Yall are sleeping on Guys deadpan delivery of the best Patreon Donators yet.
Great video, y'all. Keep it up! I may not always like the color schemes you guys come up with (like with that Gargant), but I do get inspiration from RUclipsrs like you, Tabletop Skirmish Games, Eric's Hobby Workshop, Miniac, Sledgehammer Stuidos, Luke's APS, Duncan Rhodes Painting Academy (although he does get a bit technical, doesn't he?), Knarb Makes, MiniBricks (although she does scenery), Watch It Paint It, and even The Sauce Painting, and I can't forget The Terrain Tutor (yeah?)!
Creators like y'all help me when I'm feeling the drag of the grind, and make me want to work on my minis, print out more, and get my main army larger (Iron Warriors), and make more armies (Chaos Knights, and "The Sons Of Malice" chapter).
I love all of the content, and it's always puts me into a zen mode where I just can not think about the world, not focus on politics or anything else, and just paint while listening to some 40K lore and theories in the background.
Keep up the fantastic work, bro!
Ever watch Ninjon? He's a friend of Miniac's and got inspired by him to start his own painting channel.
I love the look of that trench coat. It’s beautiful.
Amazing good results! WOW!!!! Excellent film!!!
Thank you so much! I love the death koror and you are by far the best mini painter on youtube
I had a shit day at work, this helped me bounce right back! ^___^ thanks Guy
ahhhh, midwinter minis upload. lovely :)
Its looking so well
I always really look forward to your speed painting tutorials. Without fail, they galvanise me to tackle my own pile of shame, and show me how nice my models can look, without spending days on a single miniature. Thanks for another wonderful tutorial Guy!
yes! Fantastic to be back to core. Nice work Guy and look forward to the next one
0:01 ooOOOOooo, that tune's a blast from the past! I was watching some Blackstone Fortress videos just the other day. :)
As always, a lovely watch. Thanks, Guy!
Happy Birthday Guy!
This video has given me the idea to look into reality to get inspiration for paint schemes. Thank you.
I would love to see German water spot camo painted on these guys!
Ah, perfect timing, I recently put my kill team of these together and was waiting for a clear day to prime them!
Thanks Jeremy 😊
Man these rickrolls are really improving their sneak attacks lol
Great tutorial and sweet snow tip.
I love this speed painting tutorial series, please keep it going
This is cool as good to see one of these videos
DANG This Helps me OUCH SO MUCH!! This is a GREAT WAY TO SPEED PAINT! I will try this!! THANKS!!!! SAVED!!!
Guy back out here with another banger. Making me encourage to knock out my 20 kriegers!
good to see my boys done so well. Your studio is also superb, I'm planning on setting up my hobby room in my new place in a similar way.
Really love the melting snow tip !! Thanks a lot !
OH MY GOSH LOOKS SO GOOD!!! Also I like this style thanks
Awesome as always.
Great vid Guy, really liking the speed painting tutorials! Even though I think I'm not exactly new to painting anymore, you still present me with nice new ways and approaches to painting in these videos. And happy 37th bday!
Looks great!
Yessssss, I've been waiting for you to eventually show Krieg some love. Nice job Guy, I've added this vid to my favs and love the scheme enough to use it on some Krieg stand in models of mine. Grat job brother, great job.
Wow that's a really nice mini for the time investment you put in. Great work Guy
love it guy been sitting on mine for ages now and didn't know what paint scheme to give my krige boys but now i think ive got a good idea on what i am gonna do
Love that you're back to your classic video style again!
You're speed painting tutorials are about the most inspiring thing when it comes to getting back to painting.
Showing what it should look like after doing the shade paint was perfect. 😀 People always say to clean away the excess but never define excess. Thanks!
Love the video! Krieg are my favorite army, so I was surprised when I saw this video!
I’ve been looking forward to you doing Death Korps of Krieg for soooo long!
I'm loving that DIY snow you did! Didn't know you could do that lol, I'll have to try it out on some of my models 🤘🏻
GW pieces are placed on sprue to maximise the number of pieces per square cm of sprue outline. Saves on plastic and space. Much more efficient that organising parts around sequential numbering so keeps cost and waste down. Should be applauded for it.
Jeremy sounds like the best type of friend.
This looked like a great Valhallan paint scheme tbh :)
was debating on which color to use on my future krieg models and made up my mind the second i saw this thumbnail, amazing job man!
Beautiful.
I like the cross hatching in the coat. Adds an interesting textural quality. Good job!
Guy, this is way to good to be true! That is probably the best paintjob you ever did! Wow! 😳👍👍
I have never painted a mini and I don’ t play the games but I really enjoy watching your videos - keep up the great work, Guy 😊
Love that texture paste idea. Awesome sauce 🤙🏼
Best part about this videos is literal minutes before you put it on RUclips I asked my friend if he wanted me to give his Kriegers a winter scheme
I did the baking soda method on my Space Wolves. Just to let you know, it does turn brown after a couple of years for the same reason you keep it in your fridge.
Apparently, this can be mitigated by sealing it.
Enjoyable as always Guy!
Thank you for showing me how to do some cheap snow effects. My Gundam should look pretty cool now
speed painting is my favorite content
Super excited to see you covering some kill team content! It could a great way to introduce painting guides for other factions. Maybe even battle report? Excited!!
That's crazy how quick you knocked a good looking mini out in such a short time, great job!
That Was awesome ! Thx guy!
the great coat looks fantastic!
Great paint scheme, Guy! I’ve never wanted to paint up Kriegers before, but this video gives me an itch!
Great video, I always love the easy relaxed style. Oh and as you mentioned I'm looking at a Tyranid Hive Tyrant sprue as we speak the part numbers read 21,59,23, and 57. It sounds more like a bingo caller than an organised sprue.
How could you stay so darn stoic while Rickrolling us all like that?! I feel betrayed!
Love you are still putting out small tutorials between mega projects!
I stopped at a dry brush after the wash but I love this scheme can't wait to get the other 9 of mine done 🤣
This helps alot. Appreciate it.
Yes! Midwinter Minis speed painting! I remember watching all the old Black Fortress speed painting tutorials when I started getting back into mini gaming. Ah, memories. I really like the rough look.
Impressive and useful, thanks!
