your not wrong. It IS the test bed for what they want to do with the finished game of SQ42 and Most of the systems they are working on have not even been added into the Alpha yet. Their biggest hurdle is the server stability. If they can get past that bottleneck they will have created something the world have never scene before! a true living persistent universe simulator!
I know Tobii is a sponsor, but there are free OOS options for people who can't afford a Tobii. I have had great results with an old webcam, AITRack, and Open Track.

hey my only question about tobii eye tracker is how much of your PC performance is being use by it ? is there like a little 5-10% CPU being use while its running ? this can be a big impact for some people
I backed in 2014, i lost the rest of my hope when Pyro released last year. We have the same bugs not solved for years, and on top of that new bugs with every new content addition.
I feel this is so ironic getting posted after CIG posted why they were not rolling out the free fly and the known issues with the current build. Backers not being able to load in. Backers not being able to leave habs. Backers not being able to use elevators or transit systems to get to hangers. Backers not being able to get ships to spawn in or load in hangers without being destroyed. Backers not being able to get hangers to open so they can leave the hangers in their ships. Backers not being able to quantum travel in their ships properly to get anywhere. These are all of them common problems and block any access to the claimed "Best Planet Tech". So does the "Best Planet Tech" equate to having any value when those that paid for it have no access to it? The timing is just like spot on Ironic.

Why spend money on custom tools like Tobi, for a tech demo project? The value isn’t there. Immersion only lasts a short time. Then when you start wanting gameplay, Tobi isn’t used or important at all.
I used TrackIR 5 for a year or two before switching to Tobii a few years back. They are comparable except that Tobii doesn't require you to wear anything on your head, and that's a huge plus for solo players like me who don't want to bother putting on a headset. The other 'benefit' Tobii provides is eye tracking - it tracks your head and your eyes as well, so if you keep your head still and move your eyes, it can still move the camera. I find this to be a huge hassle though for working with instrument panels - you're trying to click on something, and the camera keeps moving around, and you're chasing it with the mouse, and it creates a horrible feedback loop. So in Star Citizen and MSFS, I turn the eye tracking OFF. It's not needed. But I do like the head position tracking, and the ability to lean in any direction.
Not to be underrated in this game. IT really is a game changer! just being able to look around without changing my ships direction or being able to quickly looks around my position with out moving my gun off target is a huge advantage!
You REALLY need to learn the difference between a "Scam" and "A very badly mismanaged project" When you use the word "scam" while talking about SC. People will tease and attack you for hating without reason and being uneducated. I understand your anger about the game. but use the proper term to articulate your dislike of the project.

And no one ever said you HAD to buy those ships. we supporters have been screaming from a Megaphone From day one that you can buy every single one of these ships with in game money, made from ingame activities, and now make them yourself apparently someday..... Sadly you Hates keep closing your eyes and plugging your ears when we try to point this out! That's pretty much it: Star Citizen is mostly a screenshot simulator.. Then, the gameplay is mostly about shooting energy beams.. PvE that is mostly repetitive, robotic, basic, simplistic and boring.. PvP and PvNPC that is repetitive, random, stupid and violent, for the most part.. Rare, punctual racing runs, in tracks that aren't either real tracks, nor real asset sites, turned into improvised tracks.. Everything on SC looks like a filler, makeshift, mock-up gimmick - technically, realistically incongruent. Everything feels bleak, empty, incomplete, broken or non existent, non realistic, non immersive, non believable. Definitely not worth one billion dollars, 1200 employees, and 16 years of development. It's a real, broken mess..

It never will ,because consoles physically cannot handle the game. Wouldn’t it be cool if the game that’s raised over 650 million dollars could run at more than 40 FPS and have more to offer than its shell gameplay that’s 10 years of development
Can you wonder around the city streets ? Are there things to interact with ? Shops, people, random events ? Can you explore the buildings or the underground ? Any random quests to do in the city ? Can you start a business in the city ? Can you buy a apartment and decorate it ?
Actually yes to all but the last three I do believe. I think CIG are planning on adding apartments, city quests, etc., though given it is CIG it will probably take them about 20 years. To be fair, I have seen a lot of fantastic videos where people just wander through cities (or fly), or go to the shopping districts and such. One of their cities once had some sort of attack mounted as an in-game event, and you had to fight off the enemies on the skyscraper 'roofs' which looked pretty cool. I'm not saying this to express my support of SC haha, I just dislike misinformation.
"You can land on a building, and ... walk about" But can you do anything else, remotely useful or interesting ? Like using an elevator of some sort to descend into the building ?
you've got dozens of mission types yeah, and sandbox activities too. Are all loops coherently tied together through economy and progression mechanics? Not really no. But you can earn reputation and credits for various factions in different jurisdiction (e.g. being a mercenary, bounty hunter, hauler, delivery man) there's a quite involved industrial gameplay tool (cargo, mining, salvage), with bespoke missions both legal and illegal. Everything is quite organic too, you can destroy a bunch of AI ships, board them to salvage their cargo, but get caught by another player on the way to sell the loot. Or bump into a large abandoned ship a player left days before, break in, put your own ship inside and fly elsewhere to use it for missions until you log off.
ITs got its problems. but when everything is working correctly.... for around an hour or so tops.... Its one of the most amazing experiences you will ever have!
It's not only about the looks (although it already looks impressive, while they still have to add a lot more content). It's the tech behind it that is next level. There's no game currently that let's you walk into your spaceship behind your cockpit, with a friend onboard manning the turret, lift off and launch through weather changes and volumetric clouds out of the atmosphere into space, flying off the whole physical distance to a wormhole onto a next system and land on another planet with completely different characteristics, and walk out again, where the server still remembers where you left your chocolate bar carbage last time. And this is all SEAMLESS.
@@Drrolfski you forgot to add no loading screens in a simulated universe where the Planets and the solar systems are literately 1/4 the size of the real thing with real planet rotation and someday planet orbits around the star!
Don't try it now. Wait until it gets released... maybe 5 years from now. Maybe 10. It's still in alpha development with lots of bugs. Certainly don't pledge for anything. If you do try it, do it during a free fly event.
@ SQ42 launch's next year. the Alpha is making advancements by leaps and bounds now. What used to be 2 and 3 years between major patchs is now 2-4 months! and the biggest bottle neck of server stability is almost solved. its just the problem of Persistence bogging down the server memory. and causing problems with spawning ships and elevators. @HighmageDerin they don't need half the tech for SQ42 being a single player game... so not really
@ Yes, they dont need a flight model, hard assits, game engine or player testing to make their single player game..........
@ That's the easy stuff... the more complicated tech is persistent entity streaming and server meshing, which they only need for the PU, not SQ42.
