Beautiful old trucks and sweet Detroit diesel music!!🤠😎👍💗💗
Hi mate thank you and thanks for watching
Bloody awesome Steve that brought back a lot of memories started back in the late 60s until the early 90s running up and down that highway plus many other highways and byways in my 54+ years on the road ,thanks for that mate
Hi Rod I’m glad you liked it mate. No problem
The GM is pure music. It should be number 1 on the Top 40. After watching all the trucks, I had to watch Convoy again.
Beautiful mate great stuff
Thanks Steve for taking us along on the trip down & back on the Hume. Great to see the old trucks out on the road and never get sick of hearing a GM on song.
It’s my pleasure mate and thank you more for coming along
Steve's place down Under Love That New video Hauling That Hume Keep Up the good work Billy Lizza Uniontown pa USA
Hi Billy thanks as always mate. Great to have you watching each episode. There’s plenty more to come mate
Those Detroits sound like Ferrari,s on steroids love that sound. Beautiful bunch of trucks all super bad ass!! Great video.
Hi mate thank you, if only it went like a Ferrari! They are nice trucks mate, most of the ones that attended were nice. Thanks again
Another awesome video.
Awesome video, mate. Thanks to you and your good lady. I have to say the blue KW sounds great 👍
Hi mate it’s our pleasure. It sure does sound good that one. Each one we have has it’s own unique sound
👍👌Great video Detroit was singing beautifully. Those 2 strokes know how to howl. V8 Mack sounded good too. Thanks for taking us along
Hi mate thanks for watching. Yes they all performed well. There were a lot of nice machines there mate. It’s my pleasure
Can't ever get sick of the sound of a GM
Hi mate no that’s right you certainly cant
Oh I would lol
Some nice driving n footage the driver of the white cab over I like how he keeps that engine ratcheting up through the gears
Fantastic mate
Awesome day out bet your lad loved it
Great video steve . Transtar great looking truck.
Thanks mate. Hopefully I can get some time to do something with it. It’s fairly unique that one
It is so nice to see several of your fleet out on the road together. I love your friends Flintstone and I can’t ever get enough of those Detroits
I enjoy all your videos thanks can’t wait for the next ones
Thank you mate😁😁🍻🍻🍻
Cracking stuff Steve ! Great bit of footage with the camera driving along the grey ghost !
Hi Ard thanks mate. Yes my Dad drives the grey one and my sister drove alongside for a while and videoed a few of us
So AWESOME. I would give an arm and a leg for just one of your BEAUTIFUL rigs even one in the woods just love em all
Thank you mate. Most of them are nice ones. I’d love the time to play with them all
Beautiful trucks 👍💪 and volvo f10 😍😍
Hi mate thank you 🙏
Thanks for the Vid! Must be been tough back in the day steering those ole 2 strokes for hours on end, I needed earmuffs watching it on the TV haha
I know mate but they did it and didn’t know any better because there wasn’t the stuff around we have today. I can’t imagine the blokes doing interstate in them with heavy loads. Yes I use the earmuffs but they have music in them also. They actually make you hear better when driving it.
You can’t beat a screaming Detroit. ❤
Certainly can’t mate
Quality content n beautiful trucks
Good Video Steve Love The Variety Of Classic Trucks I Found Your Channel The Other Day & Subscribed Hello From Windsor Connecticut U S A
Hi mate thanks for watching. I’m glad your enjoying it from over there. I have a lot of different ones here mate yes and tractors also. I try to go between both. There’s plenty more to come so thanks again
This fella has some good videos
Thank you mate, there’s plenty more to come too.
@@stevesplacedownunder that's goog
awesome stuff mates sweet safe haul .
Thank you mate. Had a great time
Good on ya fellas
Thanks Ron as always mate🙏🙏👍👍
The content is amazing. On top of this id just like to also acknowledge all the time and effort that must go into editing these videos to such a high standard. Makes for a great viewing experience. Cheers
Thanks again for watching mate. Yes my partner does all the editing and she spends countless hours doing it. It’s much appreciated mate that you acknowledge that side of it. A lot of people probably don’t understand what goes into putting out a 30 minute video. We try hard to get it all to come together. I hope it will only get better as we learn and one day update our video equipment. Thanks a lot mate, great to have you following
As a friend of mine says, it would have been a hoot! Wish I could have rode along, it wouldn’t have made my hearing any worse than it already is. Haha.
It was a hoot mate. It is a very noisy vehicle. Good for a while but then you start to get over it
Hi Steve from the U.K., that a shame about that f10 and yes go for a start from me👍that’s what I was brought up on the f88 and then the F10, keep up the good work, markUK
Hi mate yes it most certainly is a shame. It would of been a nice truck in it’s day. I do remember it but may not have taken the notice that I do these days. I will get permission off the owner and give it a go
That Road Boss actually sounds like a race car, loud and proud. No sneaking up on anybody with that gem!
Yes mate it does but it doesn’t go like one🤣🤣🤣
@@stevesplacedownunder Doesn't quite have the speed, huh? Ha ha
Will do 110kmh but slow up hills mate. Got good legs on the flats
Love it love it
Awesome morning brother great to see you again in the land down under !!! Another awesome adventure with my brother !!! Rolling coal with a sweet Detroit lol !!!! Yall stay safe and keep on rolling !!!
Awesome returns mate indeed. Was a good adventure whilst it lasted mate. Good fun. Plenty more on its way brother
Class act
Thank you 🙏🏼
Great video Steve, I enjoyed it. The White sounded terrific on the way up. Cheers!
Hi mate thanks yes it sure did. I wish it went as good as it sounds. Stay around for more to come mate
Keeping the dream alive, nice one boys...great to see you guys having a ball..safe trucking.
Hi mate thanks very much for watching and the nice comment. We certainly did have a ball mate, was a really good time. There’s plenty more to come to mate
Great video Steve...Haulin the Hume looked like a lot of fun. Hope to pick up my little blue Dodge week after next...will drop in. Cheers Uncle Tony.
Hi mate thanks for watching and commenting, how good. It was great fun mate as it usually is. Had a bit of rain which spoiled it a bit but was still good overall.
I can’t wait to see it. I only saw him a bit over a week ago about the numbers for the guards but his were bigger trucks when he got them so we’re different. If your coming past please do drop in mate. Thanks again for watching and following
Good on ya Steve, youve got some nice trucks there, i really like the White but that Transstar sure has some carracter
Hi Jamie thank you mate. I built them on a budget but they do the job. The white is a bit underpowered mate but has done me good for years. I’d love to have the time to put into the transtar. Would make some great content and end up with a good truck
@Steve’s Place Down Under yeah would be good content for sure. In the 80s as a teenage apprentice I was lucky enough to regularly get to jump in a White 4000 Intermodal had as yard truck and pick up the trailers and bring them down to the workshop , loved every minute of it .
Them old Volvos are making good money in the UK and Europe
Are they really mate? They are here also because they hard to get a good one in good condition as they renown for rust
@stevesplacedownunder I think they replace a lot of the panels, a reasonable one easily brings 5 figures. I restored a bus about 25 years ago, and a lot of time going to scrap yards just to hopefully find that correct part you need.
Haha I was going to say in the comments that you would probably be deaf driving for four hours next to that engine, then I saw the ear defenders 👍
Hi mate. They are also Bluetooth connected to the phone for music. Can’t hear the radio at all no
Great video mate. Can I possibly share to my group World transportation history ?
Hi mate thanks for watching. Yes please do
Wise move on the ear defenders
I always wear them. They are Bluetooth too
@@stevesplacedownunder that’s awesome 😅
Awesome on the fb views shame it wasn’t you getting the views directly. Blast
Yes mate it’s a lot easier over there to get views
@@stevesplacedownunder right never knew
Super truckers these days wouldn't know how handle that good gear
No mate that’s right. Nor would it be near powerful enough for them
Hey steve. Jim Rioux from Connecticut. This is when trucks were trucks and truck drivers were men. These trucks built America but today all these climate freaks want them gone. Some day when you cant get parts for these new trucks the old Detroit's will never need all that bullshit to haul . Did you have three trucks on this run? BTW my dog speed perks up when he hears a Detroit running.
Hi Jim, yes mate your exactly right and Australia also. Don’t start me on these green climate freaks mate. That’s a whole new story. These old trucks will be needed again one day in my opinion mate just like you said.
I had 3 yes mate. The grey daycab Kenworth, the blue daycab Kenworth and the white 4000. I was driving the white and my dad was driving the grey one. My mate Mick drives the blue one, he’s been in a few of my videos.
Your dog speed has good taste mate
No good having a cb radio in your rig😂
In an older hauling the hume video, I saw another white KW day cab just like yours, except it has dual stacks, also a V8 Detroit and is a bit louder than yours. Is that one your truck also?
No it’s not mine mate, I can’t think of which one it may be. Some of them are louder because they put oversized stacks on them but it ruins the look of a classic vehicle I think. Not many day cab ones on the runs. There’s a lot of the sleeper cab ones though
Is the high/ low range selector on the collum in the White? Great video. What driveline was Ur mate's Flinty? All great trucks. Enjoyed watching them.
2 range valves on the gear stick, one for deep reduction and one for high and low range. Deep reduction currently on the dash but am in the process of changing it to the bottom valve on the gear stick, for the simple reason that it’s a better gear change when just using the gear stick and not a dash button also. The Flintstone is a 250 Mack with a quadruplex (quad box) twin stick and bogie drive Mack diffs
It sounds like a 2stroke, but diesel. Is it an inline six like modern diesel trucks? How many rpm's is this truck doing during a climb? You can definitely tell the difference in the lower deep base of the modern engines
@diana feeney the sound definitely is more than 2000 rpm,
I could tell because our rigs maxed out around 1800 and the governor kicked in to "prevent over rev damage" is what we were told
Hi mate it is a 2 stroke Detroit diesel. Inline 671. 6 cylinder, 71 cubic inches per cylinder. Rated at 238 horsepower, this particular one is governed at 2350rpm. Need to keep the revs up like this because the torque they produce is in the higher rpm range
A 2 stroke diesel sounds like a higher rpm engine, but the piston has a power cycle going down and going up, hence it's name. The rpm isn't that more then a 4 stroke in-line 6 diesel. You're hearing the extra power cycle per revolution. 👍
@@canuckaussie7092 it’s a power cycle every time it goes down. It fires every time it gets to the top rather than every 2nd time like a 4 stroke.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👼👼🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💯💯
Thank you mate 🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰
shorts are a bit moist after this video
I hope so mate🤣🤣
Drive a GM on full revs they run forever
They certainly do mate
Awresome, when trucks had tons character and even tons of noise. ;) Modern trucks just sound so sterile!
They certainly had all that mate years ago. Now they are boring yes indeed, but a lot more comfortable and powerful now. Still I love the old ones
@@stevesplacedownunder What caused the tinnitus? Driving the White. How do I get rid of the constant ringing? Drive the white. ;)
