I'd be curious to see it mounted to your handlebars while MTB then use the app to pan from what's infront, to your face to show both angles. The last couple angles were pretty interesting near the end of the video.
did someone manage to import the raw 360 files into the gopro app on android WITHOUT having a gopro attached? (ever before) ? I downloaded both files per filename (download folder of the smartphone), when browsing in the gopro app there is no option to manually select the download folder or the file itself
Thank you for putting this video together. Both GoPros are awesome. It would have taken quite some time to do this. I am going to work out a mount to reduce vibration so I can mount the Max on my motorcycle rear metal rack so I can choose from rear, left, right, or even "butt" footage :) . I really like the sound on the Max it would be most compatible with my Hayabusa exhaust.
If aiming only for 1080p, would you say hero mode max vs gopro Hero 8 are very very similar? They appear similar to me. I understand Hero 8 is far superior if going for 4K, but I’m only interested in outputting to 1080. Very useful material in this video thank you, but wondering your opinion on this question

I was intending to buy gopro max, I tried your files under windows with laptop: i7 6700 HQ ram 16 GB GeForce gtx 970 m for the first 2 seconds the video is fluid, then only the audio continues and the image still, is it a bug in the windows player or my pc is not powerful enough?
I dont know if its RUclips compressing it, but that last shot shot which was reframed from 360 seems to have alot of artifacting/pixelation. The image isn't as chrispy as what I'm used to from my insta360 One X. I want to give the max a shot but that might be a dealbreaker.
Because of massive compression and quality loss on RUclips, it's actually VERY hard to see which camera has better quality in the split-screen. I started watching on a 24" monitor but gave up. I think you should do full screen frame capture comparison for this to be any helpful. Thanks!
The gopro max underwater is still blurry !! Had the lens protectors installed? Does it connect the two lenses correctly? My only solution is 360bubble, I use it in the gopro fusion and it works perfect but ... it takes a long time to install the camera and then it takes 5kg of lead to submerge it. Was the GoPro max able to achieve critical focus under water? Or even ok focus? It doesn’t look like it in this footage. We have had to put the fusion in a 360 Bubble housing to get a usable level of focus. Would be amazing if didn’t have to do that.
No, it can't focus underwater (and GoPro confirmed the issue). It'll have to wait for some sort of case. GoPro says they're going to make one, but doesn't have any timelines on it.
Just a suggestion - Mounting the camera on the mountain bike would have been a better idea, the current view predominantly shows elongated arms and legs.
@@jackson.denzler. it is wrong (distracting) for some, isn't for others. For eg, I would like to see the extra wide angle view of the camera unhindered by elongated limbs since POV videos is not my thing. Nothing wrong in it for those who might be interested either in PoVs or both.
Can you edit the Max footage through normal video editing software or does it need to be done using GoPro software? Their first 360 camera software was pretty poor
Aaron Shimmons you can use theirs or other software btw the new software is rally good and on phones with the app you. An just look around like you have a great headset and it can process that to

I viewed at the max 2160 resolution and am disappointed to see a lot of video compression artifacts. My question is whether the compression fuzziness is in the actual footage or is is because of the compression that Google does when importing into RUclips?
Great pieces of footage, wish I had seen it before buying a Insta360 One R :( However, as I am now about to return that cam due to issues, I am now very seriously considering getting a GP Max .
My understanding is that you can still use the old 3.5mm USB-C adapter, though I haven't tried it yet myself. You can add any USB-C cable to it. If you're creative enough with the cable you can run it down a selfie stick and keep it out of frame. No looping function I see.
DC Rainmaker I might check it out when I get mine and see if using a half dome for hero mode or maybe getting a full dome will either help or hurt the video

I think it’s mostly a mental trick with the aspect ratio. I thought about just cropping them the same like you’d do in post, but figured I’d leave it.

Night scenes show 8 being much better in dynamic range and detail. Also underwater footage is way better on the 8.

I'm confused: The last clip - was the MAX mounted to you or your bike or was someone else holding it while you cycled?
For the 360 video, was it Handlebar mount first, then Hub mount?
Do you have a photo of each of the setups you can link or add to your dropbox files?

I was using the GoPro Fusion/Max pole for that. It’s the exact same pole, just sold under two different names.

do GoPro Max support RAW Picture shooting? GoPro support told me that it support RAW shooting, but in review is raw option missing.. so what is true?
