Want to know how to use the GoPro App to create awesome videos from the GoPro Max? In this video I take you through all the video editing options using mobile workflow on the GoPro editing app.
In this video I use the Android version of the GoPro App, so there may be a few slight differences if you are using the iOS version.
The GoPro App allows you to take your footage shot with your GoPro Max and create awesome videos using automatic video creation software. If the automatic software doesn't create a video to your liking you have the option to manually create.
What sets the GoPro App apart from its competitors is the built in music, intros, and a range of video styles which allow you create unique video styles.
Hopefully this video will show you the basics of how the app works and what you can do with each option.

This video helped me so much, thank you!!! I was getting so frustrated because I bought the subscription, but my 360 videos weren’t saving to the cloud. I think most people may be confused, thinking that the 360 video will automatically save to the cloud??? But I had to render the videos down to where they were no longer the 360 video, and now just a regular video. They would then save to the cloud. Other then that, I haven’t been able to save a 360 video to the cloud. If anyone knows any tips I would be grateful!! I do not have access to pc/laptop. So I’m kinda stuck, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the subscription I’m paying for 🥴🥴
I like this first impression of the mobile workflow. But the final video has some issues. Visible stitching line, jumping artifacts.. :/
There are issues with stitching in low light videos
I do not want to edit on a phone, just hurts my eyes and the results by doing it on such a small screen , cannot wait till they bring out the windows version of the editing software, because the camera itself is very impressive , waterproof, and even the mics work reasonably well

Damn, I want to love this so bad but the blurriness of the final result (youtube messing with quality I hope) and the low framerate at 15:25 is just painful. I'll have to wait for software updates until I can be confident that this is worth my money

If you record 10 or 15 or maybe 20 minutes of 360 without reframing , will the max stich a video that long, and if so does it take long to complete a 20 minute stitch?

How can I make my Gopro always start up in "360 video mode, and not always revert back to Hero mode on start up????
So you DO need a desktop program to edit if you want more control, if you want to export out at a higher resolution besides 1080p and also if you plan on incorporating it into another video project. GoPro's mobile app is great for the average consumer that doesn't mind not having compete control but for those who want more control they're going to skip using the mobile app and go straight to their desktops.
I was under the impression that 1080 was the max export size, mobile or not. I really hope I'm wrong about that
Mackathne u can export at full 5.6k via the GoPro desktop app. 👍🏻

@@Mackathne 16:9 isn't resolution. It's the aspect ratio.
@@liquidSpin right, but a 5.6k sphere cropped to a 1920x1080 16:9 rectangle is what I got into my head somewhere along the way

Damn, I wish I saw this video before I edited then deleted all my unedited 360 footage from my phone. I wanted the shot for mobile and didn't know I had to change the framing before. Now I know for next time
what phone you use for editing 360 video? I'm using oppo f11 and it cannot play 360 video when i download to my phone.. please recommend some phone for me, except iPhone
Now theres an update an you can film in 50 or 60fps on the 360 video can you do the slowmo on 360 vids do you know?
So you are editing stitching saving the clip on the Max memorycard. ? right? and then you can save that clip (or the edit) to your phone or download to your desktop. I mean I will fill up my phone fairly quick if I need to copy it to my phone befor editing and stitching and key framing my over capture shots. Great vid btw.

Kandao Comes with new camera in November,insta surely comes with a new awesome camera in few weeks and this GoPro will be just a good camera but not enough.i have Fusion and insta one X in use my one X 85% of time than the Fusion I use it just for underwater,insta better and social network friendly than the gopro

What apps are you talking about for the Max because all I am able to download to my Samsung Galaxy Tab A is the normal gopro app and the quick edit app by gopro. Do I need the Max app? My tablet cannot down load those special Max apps. I am able to shoot a 360 download it to the app but when I want to edit it like you are demonstrating it tells me I cant. Giving me a message that reads, PHOTO BURSTS 4K 4:3 VIDEO AND 360 MEDIA ARE NOT SUPPORTED AT THIS TIME. What exactly does this mean???
PS....out of curiosity I went to the app store to see if the gopro app which is already on my tablet and does work for my hero 5 would still be listed in the app store for android and my Tablet. It is no longer there which means now if I uninstalled the gopro app on my tablet and tried to reinstall it my tablet wont allow the installation.
What do I do on finding a device that will take the Gopro Max app so I dont want to waist any more money unnecessarily??? Help
Thanks for taking the time to teach. I notice you always take the time to help others. But I don’t think you covered how to deal with a 24 minute shoot that the MAX broke into 3 files. How do you get them rejoined to make your edits flow through all 3 files?

Hi mate.. ive made some vids at 60frames per sec.. they wont download to my phone,does it have to be 30frames per sec to work on a phone? Need to use a laptop otherwise? Please help im stumped 😢

Hi again, I take it if I just want to be able view anywhere, ie swipe left right up down as I wish, I just record the video and upload it with no editing? Basically I just want to record holiday footage in 360, upload it with the minimum amount of editing, so I can watch on RUclips and look where I wish.
is there any required specs for android phones to edit and save an edited 360 video?
how do use the slomo on the max?
The packaging on the Max advertises 2x slomo but there no way of using it

Hi. Did you find out how to record 6 mic sorround sound? With any settings i get only stereo sound. Fusion is not problematic about sorround sound. Great to listen on headset and spin around 360 vr video. Especialy on misic event like concerts.

My gopro app on my ipad pro 11 inches not working on 360 video on my gopro max. I can only hear the audio but not seeing the video.
Is it possible to edit 360 videos on computer too? Like, is there a similar special app for that?
Mio, 360guy Just got the cam and I’m on a short vacation and shocked about the image quality: setup is 360, copies to iPad and rendered in GoPro app. The 1080 file is horrible. The sharpness works maybe for everything within 1-2m from the camera. Anything beyond is really really blurry.
Envy those shots in all the videos. How do they get those crisp videos, Any ideas?
Last: is there a quality difference by rendering it on an iPad vs on a desktop (FCPx)?
Hello, if I put this Max 360 in front of my motorcycle does the rear Lens have to be facing me or can it be at an angle?? I have the GoPro Max on the upper left part of the motorcycle facing straight, the rear lens is not facing me. There was very little 360 rotation. Am I doing something wrong. Thank you for your help!!

Great vid, however you have completely ignored the easing options as advertised by Gopro. In fact I couldn't even see the option to do so in your video. Slide between key frames and select easing option

I'm getting zero audio in about half my Max 360 5.6k clips, both in camera and when I export to the app to edit...anyone else having this issue? It is set to 360+stereo.

Hi, while you editing you said that it can slow down at 360 but at trim there was a slowmo option, it can't be also usable at 360 video?
Thanks for the tutorial, simple and informative as usual, but whoever followed you should know this workflow from rylo 2 years ago already. Im shocked you review the workflow first instead of the most important image quality.
Unfortunately the app doesn't display the videos correctly for me (Android 9)! There is no Windows app yet and the Go Pro exporter only exports to .mov files which are no use in my editing software. So I am screwed for editing my max footage down any of the possible routes! Absolutely terrible software support for the new camera by go Pro on it's release. They are promising updates but I'm not holding my breath... :(

Mmmm I was hoping for the MAX to be a replacement for my Insta360 OneX. But the max app is not convincing, the glitches while play/preview not cool. If only it had the Viewport Recording mode like the ONEX instead of the keyframes.
And... can you transfer the video files from camera to iphone via Cable ? Or just wifi ?
I think it is just wifi. I heard it takes long so an input on that from the uploader would be very welcome.

Does the max stitch the video on the max and if so why can't I transfer it to my pc, like the one x??
I've done several tests with the Max now, and there is always a straight line of distortion that moves across the frame. This is not on the stitching line, it moves right across the frame. Is this always going to happen? It's annoying!

The hyperlapse isn't as good as the one X's blurring hyperlapse, do you agree?

I like one x more. The option to shoot in 30fps and when editing still be able to slow down (auto change fps) or just speed (with blur) is way better. But I’m still curious, i like the quality of the max more. One x is 1 year ahead of gopro max so let’s hope in a few months and some updates we have a lot more options on the max.
I just got a Gopro Max. I shot a bunch of footage, editing it within the Gopro app. The footage look terrible quality. TBH your footage doesnt look good either particularly 15.30 onward.
Once i have edited in the app how do i export in in highest quality? I only have option to save to camera roll. I did that, saved in iCloud, opened on my desktop and the files are ting and shit quality.

What brand of phone are you using?
In the end I was unfortunately unable to render video on my Samsung Galaxy S8....at least the first 12 times I tried. Also, it took me 10 minutes to download every 1 minute of video from the camera to my phone over the camera's wifi.
What are people seeing for the amount of time it takes to download from the camera to the phone and how flakey/consistent is the app for you on android or iphone?

Hey there ! Ive taken files off my go pro max 360 sd card to make room. Now any of those files i now want to edit i am not able to. I tried copying the files back to my sd card hoping to put it back int he go pro max so i can make some 360 movie edits. it seems like as soon as you transfer files off the go pro sd card thats it your not going to ever be able to edit that footage again with the mobile app. It seems like they push you into buying there storage space if you want to edit older footage which im not paying for. Is there any way to take old files i saved to the computer, and get them back to the mobile go pro app?

How did you get the GoPro App to view/edit your 360 videos shot with the GoPro Max? Using the GoPro App on my iPAD Pro, footage shot with the GoPro Max in 360 mode only plays the audio and not the video. However, footage shot in HERO mode can be viewed/edited in the GoPro app on my IPAD. What am I doing wrong?

The desktop for windows refuses to recognize my max using windows max exporter, and the setting is only stuck on cinematic, it refuses to give me the option of H264 video compression
It doesn't import video, you need to import the .360 files into the App. HEVC, H.264 is coming in the next release.

There is. You to the three dots in the upper right hand corner when on the keyframing and click “overcapture”

You can add your own music. There’s an option in the app to upload music that you’ve downloaded to the video.
