Agree with you, have both the hero 8 and max. I often ski with both at the same time to get different perspectives, but I most often use the video from the max. One thing I will say is that the max is much more prone to scratches on the lens, at it is sticking out of the frame. I therefore prefer to use the hero for mountainbike etc
Absolutely! i often have both cameras filming too! and yes, I’d love a more scratch resistsnt design, but I think it’s by the very 360 architecture that the lens has to stick out
I m using both mainly for snowboarding in pow. Max @ stick, rarely on the helmet. Classic GoPro with max lens mod as FPV on the helmet (recorded in 4:3 manual superview in post or just cropped image), I can confirm the workflow on the max explodes... especially when you want to cut clips together.. good sum up
Interesting! Might give this a try, however in the mountains I need everything to be as light as possible, adding weights seems counterproductive (but might solve the front-heavy load)
OMG thank you sooooo much for sharing that telesin mount alternative. I was struggeling all the time to find a solution for an screw adapter which doesn‘t affect the stitching! But this seems to be the perfect option.
Protective lenses are very useful if you’ll encounter rocks or might hit the camera against something, it scratches easily due to its shape. If it’s normal use I don’t use them :)
Just got a max to get the better angles been looking at videos for like a hour this is the best one iv seen so far bro got my sub I live out east and it’s tough over here right now lots of rain and warm weather praying for some cold 😂
Hey man great video! Wanted to know if you would choose either the go pro max or insta 360 for Instagram reel video footage? Nevertheless, really enjoyed the video will be buying the extended helmet mount and insta360 pole
Great review thanks! I wanna buy a GoPro for my bf this Christmas but I’m still unsure with what I would go with and I wanna buy it this week since there are really good discounts. I like the 360 videos but the resolution is way better with hero 11. And there’s the hero 12 too. He would probably take videos on his snowmobile and on his motocross. We go skiing and snowboarding once in a while too and it’s the first time he’s gonna be using a GoPro. He doesn’t really like editing either so I’m probably gonna be the one doing it but I’m a beginner. What would you recommend I buy?
I ended up buying the hero 11. I think is more versatile in everyday life than Max and also the non 4k resolution and worse slow mo abilities on max was a dealbreaker for me. It was 319€ compared to max 369€ so not a big difference.
Did you have to do anything to the Insta360 selfie stick to ensure the 1/4 screw fit securely in the TELESIN screw mount adapter? You don't mention it, so I suppose no, but likely due to differences in actual "version" of the Insta360 selfie stick, in some cases the screw is just a little too long, and so the camera cannot be properly secured to the stick, and doesn't sit and squish the little rubber at the base of the screw mount as it should. Anyway, I was just wondering if you had done something in your case or if it just worked out of the box. Thanks!
Hello Sébastien, in my case it fit directly (maybe sticks out half a mm but works well anyway). I paid extra attention when screwing in the tripod mount as the screws on the GoPro are easily stripped
@@PhilippKlein Okay, same in my case too then, just a hair left before contact between the rubber bit of the stick and the base of the camera. I'll probably grind the screw down slightly to ensure contact as otherwise it seems to press against the bottom of the camera on another screw, and not sure that's good. Anyway, thanks for replying!! Great video and great info. I look forward to trying this setup snowboarding.
Honestly, both are great. Insta360 makes it super easy to create a great edit in a matter of seconds. Gopro has a better button (can’t use Insta360 with gloves or in a hurry). Insta360 has better flat colour, but I prefer the less sharpened output of the Gopro…. In the end it’s get what you can and have fun!
Thank you so Much! I now know Not to buy the hero. Was about to in 2 days. The go pro max has too many features. Yet I might wait till they upgrade to better resolution 😏 before spending half my rent to get it 😅
how does the zipper not go wider when you put it in the backpack ? and how does the tripod remain straight in the bag unless there's a strap inside or something?
The zipper normally remains stable, it is relatively stiff. In this case, as a precaution I also added a ski strap attached to the top handle of the backpack to ensure I didn’t lose it in case of a fall (foreshadowing…). The pole remains straight in the pack because it is surrounded by other things that hold it in place
I just got the GoPro max 360. In your video, your setting is 360 or Hero mode . I am not sure why when I film myself cycling in 360 degree mode, the video is ok in my I phone . But when I download the video and send via whatapps the video looks strange and not the same. Appreciate some feedback
@@bensgoodeats1493 I don’t seem to understand, I can upload to RUclips directly from my phone, or I edit the 360 files on my computer and upload from there. I don’t understand where whatsapp is involved
Hi Mitica Gaming! You can edit both on the phone and on PC, but always on GoPro Software (on PC it’s called GoPo Player). You edit the 360 view there and export to a video file, and then you import it into Premiere. In fact, the screen recording in the video is from the PC software
That screw in adaptor mount is from some Spanish seller and all the links you show from that seller they are not available. Anybody else make this kind of GoPro adaptor????

I don’t like the look of when people “hold” the pole. It looks unatural and like a person doesn’t know how to ski correctly like what I see intermediate level skiers often do by not using their poles or dragging one arm back on one side when they get intimidated. I also don’t like the above head “aerial shots”, as you can’t critique your own skiing very well like that. My favorite, but most difficult to do, is where the selfie stick is at about 3 or 4 feet away from our sides, midsection height, preferably at about a 45 degree angle out from our front view. If we can’t get the angle out front at a 45 then I am “ok” with it just at my side, BUT FRONT SIDE would be so much better and definitely one where our hands are free to make our pole plants, and also not coming from our head like the silly looking helmet mounts. There needs to be a WAIST or some kind of belt mount and also one for the backpack as an alternative which should include an optional “counter” weight to balance the side of the pole that bounces around and also just gives an overall “off balance” type feeling. If you know of anything like this please share! Thank you! 💖💙👍🏼

Use a counter balance on the back of the helm to offset the weight of the unicorn mount

Thanks for the great video! Is that Insta 360 pole 70cm or 114cm version? Your link directs to 70cm but seems that your pole is longer than that.
Hi Mika, Thank you! I just noticed there are two versions, I’d say it’s the 114cm version, sorry for the mistake

Such a shame the max limited the frame rate though... If they let u do 80 or 120 fps in 360. It would be the only cam u ever need
