    I am from Munich and go to Oktoberfest every year several times. I love the atmosphere there, it's like entering another world everytime you go there. I love seeing everybody using the tradional clothes, the music, the smell of the foods, see the crazy rides, make friends,... Unfortunately it's very overcrowded sometimes but apart from that it's really a great event.

      It should be set up on a larger space if it's over crowded, we don't want another Duisburg accident which means Oktoberfest will be shut down. On the other hand, shutting it down doesn't seem that bad when you see foreigners hijacking your own traditional regional event. Sorry

    What most people here don't seem to know, is that the prices of Beer and food inside the tents already includes a markup/tip to the waitresses, they actually buy the beer/food coupons for a lower price and sell them to the guests at a higher price (fixed depending on the tent), that's why they are very eager to check if you need anything else, as they make their income on that difference.

    Obviously she must have had prearranged access and seats to Lowenbrau tent. Likely impossible otherwise (and then she likely gave up those seats to her production crew or so I hope because once you get into a tent on opening day you stay! And in my experience you would have had to walk in a lot earlier and wait and position yourself to camp out. So she made it look the way it should but not how it is. At least for that bit.)
    The places she went and things she did were good.
    She needs to factor in the cost of her tracht and accommodation and flights and S and U bahn fares… but yeah. Good all around

    • @maio290
      @maio290 Год назад +2

      @@davidlynch9049The DB might be a meme, but it isn't as bad as you may think. I'd avoid Munich at any cost during the Oktoberfest and I think that visiting another Volksfest or even Kirchweih in Bavaria might be also a very decent option. But that's the good thing: People can decide themselves what they're going to do :)
      For me personally and many residents (in Bavaria, I am not from Munich), the Oktoberfest is just a overcrowded and overpriced mess, however, there are also locals enjoying it a lot. So it's as everything in life just a matter of taste. But I think that the Oktoberfest doesn't really make for a good impression and that Bavaria has way more to offer than an overpriced place to get drunk.

    this is an absolutely bullshit event, I took part in 2012 and already then they charged 10 euro for a double glass of beer, plus they charge also entrance fee into those beer huts, plus entrance on terrace was additional 10 euro, the toilet cost 5 euro - imagine that when you drink beer, it's literally golden showers, I remember I spent 100 euros just by crossing the place, I had one sausage, a pretzel, and two beers, plus there is a lot of drunk people, police, urine smell, etc, I recommend you take your 100 euro and make yourself a beerfest at your weekend house for one week

    Wow. Munich's Octoberfest looks wonderful !! I had no idea how large it is. The section that they created to honor past Octoberfest's is beautiful and quaint. It's now mid September 2024 and I have had a real urge to find a local Octoberfest here in my area of California. It won't be anything like Munich; but I've been to several good ones here. Snowbird Ski Area in Utah has a beautiful Octoberfest every year. In 2008: it was free to get in; you just had to pay for beer, food, etc. The music was so much fun; plenty of oompapah bands playing. Women and men yodeling.
    And yes .. the pretzels + beer.
